Phrases I never want to read again (but almost certainly will)

I've noticed the Elite Dangerous forums seem to have generated a lingo all of it's own, an 'Elite-speak' :p if you will.

Here's some phrases I could happily never read again. Feel free to add your own!

1) Meta
2) Salty tears
3) Popcorn
4) Pew pew
5) White Knight
6 ) Fanbois (is that French?)
7) Saying 'mah' instead of 'my'

and of course

8) Git Gud

If everyone could refrain from using these phrases in future ...

That'd be great.

Lol those are from MMOs that predate Elite, mainly EVE and mainly PVP community.

edit : add "space magic" for me please, always found it funny in a fiction ...

I would like to add "Immersion" to the list. If you don't mind. Oh, and somehow you forgot "Grind". Please update your list appropriately.

It has no clear meaning that is even close to what it means outside of gaming. Out there it means self-referencing or 'as viewed from a level above' (meta-fiction; fiction about fiction)

In Eve-O the term meant gaming the game outside the game. Metagaming meant making propaganda and psychological warfare on forums and such.

Meta as a term for 'the state of balance at a certain point of time' needs to go die in a fire.

<edit> ok eating massive amounts of crow here:

Meta
Abbreviation of Most Effective Tactic Available. Mostly used when comparing tactics in a game,

I feel dumb now. So the gaming term meta is an acronym that has nothing to do with the greek-derived adjective. *slaps self* carry on gents, as you were.

What is wrong with "Meta"?

Not sure really. I have a hard time actually defining what it means and I've never seen it used anywhere else the way it is here (possibly it is also used on other gaming forums?) It's certainly not used the way I would use it in everyday speech (if I would use it at all). Possibly these phrases grate on me just because of over use.

You said it better than I could, thanks.

Meta gaming, means you play the game out of the actual game, like making real money off in game stuff or harassing in game players in their real life, etc

Co-sign pretty much everyone's suggestions, and would like to submit "win button" and "Xbox generation" for the consideration of the board.

That's not how it appears to be used on these forums though. It's seems to be used to describe the process where everyone ends up playing the same way because of certain 'game mechanics' (careful now, there's another one). I can't think of another single word that would encapsulate that process so maybe it is a useful shorthand. Doesn't stop it it being annoying though :p.

Well, you live and learn. That actually makes sense now.

Meta is taken to mean "level above" or similar. Hearthstone actually is a good example, as the bread and butter of the game is choosing which cards to play and which moves to make. The meta-game is the level above this, choosing a deck of cards that will maximise your number of wins against opponents' strategies, and it is dynamic.

Mah, oh mah. Here we have a scrub cryin' salty tears 'coz he can't surive or afford the meta build. Quick, better hide b4 the fanbois arrive and tell him to git gud. Also, get some popcorn b4 the forum pew pew starts.

Edit: in all seriousness, I can't stand most of those words either. They're immature.
