Horizons Left Elite for 6 months, surprising result upon return.

Picked up Elite Dangerous, the game was generally taking every opportunity to pee me off, so I put it down for six months and returned.

Upon returning to the game this is what I discovered.

The experience is worse than ever before. Accessing the station services takes 30 - 45 seconds on a 200m/bit fibre connection.

Once in station services, the job board takes 20 - 30 seconds to open.

Opening a job takes another 15 - 20 seconds, plus you see it loading images in real time like a         1990 webpage on dial up.

Commodities market is the same deal.

So yeah that sucks worse than before. Even transitioning from super cruise to normal space, or another system sucks up your life.

Why is this still happening? Why does it feel like I'm still using pre-release alpha software?

I took at 1m credit job. Simple enough, be at X system between time X and Time X. Search signal sources for guy X. Get 4 tons precious stone.

Wasted an hour and a half of my life trying to find this guy at the time specified using the method stated.

This game needs years more of development work. This is a bigger piece of beta-like crap than Elite 3 was. I just wish there was a company to sue the crap out of them like last time.

All things being equal, the speed of the connection is irrelevant if there's a weak link in the how he's communicating with the servers. I'm not suggesting that he's at fault, but the problem *is* networking.

I do think it's a bit redundant to have two different pictures of every mission giver. I just wish the map would open faster. Seems to get slower with every release.

The in station menu's can be annoying slow, but, honestly, the general gameplay has improved, and I still find the game quite fun, despite my various complaints. Hopefully, the networking issues will be resolved in time.

On a sid enote, I think the machine itself can make a difference. Time in witchspace is significantly longer when playing on my Mac Book Air vs my gaming PC, despite the same 100MB fiber connection.

Z...

No, he doesn't have netwroking issues, this is a known problem the devs are working on and many people have the problem. But great show of both arrogance and ignorance guys.

Ah, this old pantomime.

Yes, just because there are known issues server side it DOES NOT MEAN, that there are not also issues on the client side that cannot be worked out too. Then there are the multitude of random issues that can pop up between client and server nodes that neither side can do anything about such is the nature of the internet.

Your statement therefore comes under both the categories you have laid out, well done. Granted the two replies that followed the OP were too generalised and not much help, but they were not worthy of your post to them.

And yet here you are, assuming the very same, that just because there are other potential problems that they must be the cause of said issues. So.... try again? Perhaps after a bit more thought?

60mb internet south uk, pc in sig. Only ever had issues some rare sunday nights and when everyone and their dog is shouting on the forums.
Yes there may be issues but id stake money that at least 90%+ of the people with persistant issues are client side.
Game has become significantly more optimised and in general barring the odd Sunday the servers are better than ever...

I bought a bmw the other day 35 grand and it still took me 3 hours to drive from london to manchester.I ask you peice of crap. Its probably because its german. I would hire a lawyer if they weren't all working on brexit.

I,m on a 4mb connection out of Australia and I,m not getting delays like that, but my home network is a work of Art, get a grip on yourself.

[haha]At least you offered help after being called out on it.

I most likely would have helped earlier if the OP had said he had problems instead of trashing the game. I have found over the years of gaming that most of my issues are MY issues. Look at your setup or ask for help and explain the issues you are having and people will help. The attitude that I pay for a Super Duper internet connection so it's impossible that it me is ignorance in itself. I have a 60 mb connection and found out that I was getting a lot of output lad due to my router using the test in the link I gave in the last post.

Some are having issues with the game connections doesn't mean you will. Always assume the issues is with you until proven otherwise.

Are there people who don't have to wait at least 15 seconds watching the little pinwheel spin each time the mission board loads? I've always assumed that's normal. It isn't downloading a lot of data, so it always seemed like a server load issue.

It was faster before they added the mission giver pictures, which are, supposedly, PG, hence my complaint about having two of them on every mission board. The big one on the left should just be a faction symbol.
