A red herring definitely seems likely when you look at the logic puzzle.

Aside from that, it would have been great if someone from Frontier could confirm if events like these are strictly Open only, or are they scripted for Private and Solo?

I can imagine sitting on the exact position of the portal to Raxxla and not knowing it because I'm in Solo. :D

For all we know, the event didn't even take off yet. Stop and think before you freak out.

The message should be delivered to people across the board, not only in open. I don't see FD doing that, limiting the whole event based on a single FD employee flying in a random instance.

How ridiculous and what a shame people can't play in OPEN and enjoy these sort of things/events due to the fact the game cannot handle/police griefers...

Why are the majority of the player base having their gaming affected (spoiled) by a minority? Why don't FD care?

IF the BGS was implemented sensibly, then each murder of an unarmed/inexperienced player would receive an increasingly large bounty and consequently wings of npc (& player) bounty hunters would be chasing the griefers- if they want to role play murderous psychopaths then they should expect consequences. In a sensible universe anyone sighting them would report it & a posse would be formed. Why they are not, and why FD protect them with the no-naming rule, is surprising.

so many of us will continue to play in solo & miss out on the full potential of ED.

The message is real, we interdicted him in open twice. The first time he actually logged so I thought it was a player planking us. The second time we followed him as he backed away and a message popped as in the photos.

If anything guys, just be careful in Open, me and my wingmate, Mitting got interdicted and almost killed. Luckily they couldn't punch through my shield so I managed to high wake out to another system with 90% hull, but my mate got destroyed. Just be careful guys

A treasure hunt to find an alien presence might be only the first step - what comes then? For example, peaceful first contact might lead to us being sent a message and we might find ourselves needing to decode another transmission. If we find one alien ship or outpost, would that imply we should be searching for more? Unlike the treasure hunts for credits, this one will be moving the storyline forwards, so the one who finds it first may be the one who gets to choose which branch of the storyline to take, even if there's a persistent POI that everyone can visit later. I hope whoever finds it first is able to record the moment... good luck everyone! (From someone out in the Conflux region about 7KLY from Jaques in the direction of the bubble).

Aliens=2.2, I believe MB confirmed that, so first contact may not be for another few weeks.

Well unless FD created an new Xbox account, with 0 game score and instantly gave him a T-9 and the power to trigger in-game messages to troll us as a fake, I'm believing it's real.

It sounds suspicious, the message is in my list right now and I keep reading it, but I don't believe it's fake.

I will say it again people
pre Logistics Gamma the Herald news feed has a binary message in it.
at the bottoms of the message it says
"one of seven, Mother of the Messenger pursued by the Hunter.
You will find more at the Black Glass"

i havent translated the Binary but it appears to translate into a series of numbers.
Maia mother of Hermes (messenger of the gods)
one of 7 (Pleiades 7 sisters)
pursued by the hunter.
I have been searching Maia around the Black Hole (black glass)
is anyone else that way?

all I have found is 2 cans containing Ancient Artifacts but nothing special about them.

Can you take a proper screenshot and post it instead of a poor picture taken with a phone?
