There isn't enough punishment for player murder that's for sure - I'm fine with the idea of people doing it, but there's no negative for doing it, apart from the community's ire.

There is infact some punishment:
Hostile patrol ships start interdicting you,
bounty hunters spawn on your heels
and you come to the point where stations
no longer let you dock, due to being hostile.

If FD would balance this on the fact that people fly engineered corvettes,
then count me out.

No you cant. You can sell them at the market, sure, but you cant deliver them to the CG.

Ah, appearently it took some time for it to recognise that it was sold... geez that took way to long (10 min-ish)

Oh sunshine it is a big deal, your changing the game rules to suit yourself as far as Adam here is concerned, you need to let people and players know first what your intent is, how you plan the events. Also anything like this should be relayed to subscribers of this game before it starts. Allowing an event to play out in open play means you give up the right to private play, to allow any other player to take action against you. This isnt fair i didnt buy elite dangerous to pvp, i want that crap il go back to eve online where the rest of the space pvp trolls live.

They did let people know, and said that some parts would be in Open, but they will endeavour to make the clues accessible to all.

I don't PvP either, but that did not preclude me from sticking my head into open for a couple of hours. No PvP was involved. :)

It you give it a minute and check progress, your contribution is displayed.

But yes: The message may be the point, or this a red herring.

But what does the global progress show for you, just your contribution, or more than you delivered? I signed up and despite people saying they've had deliveries credited, global progress is still shown as 0 to me.

Which is why FD have back ups.

Or, to give an in-fiction reason; Look how disposable Kohl was. Whoever is enticing us forward has many ways of getting this information to us. They have already admitted this is a game to them. They clearly have some far-reaching power to produce these signals wherever they want in a casual, game manner.

They apparently had to hurriedly create a CG for no purpose other than to deliver the clue. That wasn't a plan B, it was creative solution to a problem that should never have been allowed to occur in the first place.

Incidentally, if first contact is anything like this those of you wanting peace can kiss that plan good bye. SDC or someone similar will definitely be shooting first.

Yes you can, cg interaction 101:
- sign up for it.
- sell the stuff at the market or black market (rare illegal goods cg proves this)
- wait for transaction server to refresh the numbers

How do you pronounce Kohl?

It's irrelevant but I'm curious. Is it like Coal? Or Koll?

Co-hl.
Translation from german to english = cabbage

True, but it wasn't so rushed that it breaks the narrative for me.

As for SDC shooting first... maybe Thargoids are the answer to people's calls of ''Do something about SDC''. Introduce an NPC that will wipe SDC out time and time again, haha :D

I love how people are complaining they are being 'Forced' to play Open, but that is bad because they don't like PvP.

''Why can't I ride my motorcycle around this kids' park? I'm being FORCED on to the roads. WAAH.''

Yes, events don't always have to abide by your comfort zone.

It's not about comfort zones.
I think it's more that FD don't seem to understand that certain player elements in this game will always be out to spoil the party.
I'm guessing that Granger won't last past 15:05

so I delivered some Fish to Kipper.. um.. Kippax (after I took out some stuff to install a cargo bay). Now what? Nothing happened. It just says I'm in the top 100%.

This whole hunt is broke FD.
