Yes, if they have only one place to look and that is the icy planet from the stream. However, they may have multiple ones, one on the planet and another a persistent signal source in orbit somewhere.
Can anyonebody tell me why FD is screwing up timewise? First the T9, hour to early, and now they are using GMT in their messages?! CMOAN, we have in ingame clock, use it please... 3302 - "Mommy mommy, what is GMT?..."
Galactic Mean Time (GMT) said:Galactic time was adopted
after the signing of the treaty between the Empire and the Federation.
Hostilities between them cannot be conducted if one party does not turn up
because they have calculated the time incorrectly.
Sorry pal, i didnt buy this game to pvp. Thats eve online give a try some time. I bought this game to PVE, Thats where the dangerous comes from <snip>
Note: Giving another look is advised
Obviously obstacles prevented solutions
And yet two hours, in the hotttest system in the game this morning, without hassle!
And if they had gunned me down...so what? I have rebuys, I was docked nearby. It doesn't matter. I'd have tried to waste as much of their time as possible, for the sake of other Commanders, then gone and made a cup of tea.
Yes, there are idiots and children who think 'community event' means 'turkey shoot'. But they're only spreading salt if you let it bother you. And they aren't elitist PvPers, either: 'PvPer' is a different and distinct type of person to 'hangs out at hubs and shoots fish in barrels using a Corvette/Cutter/Conda'

I am still in a Sidewinder and it has been no barrier to any of this

FDev could just have said 'in-gametime' and everyone would know when things were supposed to happen. But requiring people to be in Open and providing live bait for playerkiller-groups? That's where I draw the line.
I love the cognitive dissociation going on here.... but I'm already done. I really hope this isn't how events get done in the future, because I have/had no chance of getting involved.
1. It's a point time reference. Granted, this might just be the start of things, but as I mentioned two hours ago, I was out at dinner. Can't do much about that, and here I am.
2. Open play^ through an RP player? Really? Not FD's fault, but here in Australia, where our Internet is... inadequate... because of the way the instancing in this game works, in a system where there's bound to be dozens of players searching for this guy, my chances of just happening to wind up in that instance are Buckley's and none.
Now, this may just be the start, we bring a bunch of narcotics and other things flow on. But I don't want to spectate. Even though people solved the puzzles already, I still went round them and redid some just to verify. But point-in-time event occurrences plain suck from a game design perspective. Timezones notwithstanding, they're a surefire way to disenfranchise most of your player base. At the very least, make it something that's *reliably* accessible for 24 hours.
^ On the Open Play note, I don't buy into the hate on SDC and all that bunch. It'd be hypocritical given I shipped 200 UAs to Jacques, which is all manner of "griefing" if you ask most people out there. This is a technical issue with the event combined with the way instancing works, pure and simple. I've gone to CGs where I hear all manner of "griefing" going on, and happily walk in and out in a T9 because my rubbish Internet means I don't get instanced with many, if any people.
I somewhat agree."we could show you, but that's no fun. So we're going to play a little game..."
hate to break it to you, but your little game is no fun either...
Proud of you mate. Have a cookie.
I still have a sidewinder too. 350 LY away.
