Anyone else hate engineers

I don't feel like listing them for you because we're already drifting afield from the OP. Here's a link that I think sums up the patch pretty nicely: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2016/08/elite-dangerous-guardians-2-2-details-guide/

If you don't agree that the patch looks juicy, too bad for you. I happen to think it looks awesome.

Juicy indeed!
I focus more on the "now" since release dates are kind of vague but that link got me a little excited. Thanks for it.
"Mid-October?"

Just did engineers for the first time this weekend. I knew people had complaints about it being like a casino but I had NO IDEA how close to a casino it actually is. I almost felt like they saw Pachinko machines in Japan and used that as a basis. How you could call it "crafting" is beyond me.

I wouldn't say "hate", I just try to ignore it as completely as I can, and am occasionally annoyed that I can't escape some of its excesses like magical mat multiplication and commodity and material rewards for missions.

Moreover, the mods themselves have only a mild interest for me. If I could buy some clean drives, I'd try them out, see if I liked them, but the idea I would need to travel for it, collect stuff? I got other, way more important things to do in-game. I guess I still have a grade 3 FSD range mod pinned somewhere from the first week, but with insta-ship-recall, I have no need anymore even for that one.

Moreover, I am enjoying NPC combat now in my unmodded ship, and trying to get the best out of it.

I also loved the week or two when 2.1 dropped of the hard AI. Made me a better pilot. Still didn't want to go engineer. I'll meet the Thargoids in my unmodded ship and see how well it and I stand up to them.
