Some of the commanders on the Malik stream claim it was Dillon who stated it and that Dillon is a liar, while I agree that Dillon is a liar it wasn't him who mentioned waking up far away, that was Granger I think, so I feel like the 'incident' happened where the crashed ship is, but Granger maybe woke up near Apademak?
I really think that the shipwreck is just what it seems:

However, if someone wants to do science on it he's welcome. It's a good way to let the time pass until the next release.
A good thing could be trying to reconstruct its original shape.

yeah i think they wanted to string this out longer. i guess this was the only content till 2.2. Oh well see you guys after next month.

Perhaps they were doing a smuggling run near Pleiades in the white Cobra when they found the alien vessel and opened fire. Granger was wounded. They ejected and the ship crashed in 9A. Someone (The Dark Wheel, INRA?) found the escape pods and threatened them if they talked. And now, with an inminent war, they just want to buy a passage for a new luxury life at Jaques, and they need money...
With all the booze and narcotics they requested, it seems more like they wanted to shoot themselves into another dimension.
Luckily and thanks to the vast space of the corvette, I kept a little stash of the best stuff to follow them, if required.

Can you do me a favor and get into orbit around the moon drop the UP and see if something out of the ordinary occurs? Don't want to taint your observation so i'll let you know what i meant after you tried. Don't want to get into hype mode or anything, i'm personally inclined to agree on the nothing new till 2.2 part, it just wouldn't feel right to stop here and not be certain (aware of MB's comments regarding the matter, doesn't mean that we missed something already in).

Currently I don't have the UP anymore due to Sudden SRV shenanigans, Otherwise I would have happly taken it to orbit to do any tests.....
Beneath is the current video i have of the UP echoing/rebounding/Replying to the ship....It seems it is echo sadly

I would recommend you take it up with MB. I have always been somewhat "dissatisfied" with the situation regarding Kerrash's semi/official status, and his "hints". However MB is fully aware of it, so "it" must be ok, whatever "it" is.
It may have been the start, but remember that the debris in the 4th Braben interview is clearly in space, not on a surface.

UAs, UPs, and the alien incident are related. All of them were shown in the interviews' interferences.
Argh, excactly what i'm dreading the most at the moment too. Sorry for your loss. What i actually wanted you to confirm is that the UP shows all the usual behavior but doesn't stop as usual but keeps moving towards the moon. If anyone is around carrying a UP maybe try to see if that happens for you too.
