Not sure if this has been picked up, but I spotted what looked like pictograms on the edge of one of the 'wing' pieces. Might be nothing, but one of the pictograms looks like a stylized figure of a person.

Just looks like a mirrored texture to me.

Just had a crazy thought... Apologies if it's already been brought up, this thread has grown about ten pages since I last looked at it.

The Barnacle on Merope 5C was just destroyed, and Federation ships in the area are talking about an unknown ship...

What if the barnacle hatched?

USS in the same system as the crashed alien ship that is weird. Its a convoy like the Federation ones holding UAs/UPs but it is made up of Asp Explorers and Vipers not affiliated with anything. I don't have a cargo scanner on me so ill have to come back and give this another shot. I do have a wake scanner if they jump though.

No they were all unaligned with any faction and all had names instead of a faction/unit name. Ill be coming back with my investigation Anaconda to see what they might have for cargo.

To see if they have any sort of UP/UA you can check their internal modules tab from time to time, if they have damaged modules it can be any of just a few things. Did they have any chatter or was it completely silent?

Sounds to me like a standard Convoy Threat Level 0 (or is it 1). If there is any comms, it's usually in the likes of "Wonder what we will get this time" and "Let's get out of here". I even think one of them paraphrases Star Trek ("To boldly go...").

That being said NPC spawns can be wierd at times.

I have had miners spawn in systems with 0 population yet there is no supercruise.

I can be hard to tell whats spooky and whats a bug. (not being negative , or rather I am but not with the goal to hurt ED or anything)

Anyway , maybe they are tourists or an independent resarch group.

Just my 5 cents, but when I just visited the site I clearly got the idea that the 'wings' and the 'disc' are from the same object and belong together. Some wings are broken off, but some seem clearly connected to the disc.
If you use the debug cam to look under the surface, you can see that the disc part is steeper under the surface (below) than above (top).

What I wonder is whether the 'skid marks' tell us anything. The rubble around the ship is in such a peculiar shape, I don't think that is random. Maybe that can tell us something about the way the thing crashed? Also, as has been said before, to me this site doesn't look the same as in the blurry GamesCom video (wreck with SRV next to it and Cobra in the corner). Maybe there are more sites like this?

I'm afraid you can't use the info in the previous games as canon any longer. Unless it's been mentioned specifically in ED (which is what I am now summarising on my site) it's interesting, but no longer reference material.

So... I started shooting the crashed alien vessel, and the hull seems to make my multi-cannons just bounce off, you can actually see the bullets ricochet.

I only shot it for science sake, even if it means these things hunt me down. I would just have to hunt them down in return.

I think further testing is needed, to be prepared when they come... you know.. if they hostile.
