FD: Please code the Thargoids to grief the griefers

I'm talking about players who gang up on folks outgunned or outskilled, and blow them to bits for no good reason, and do so all the time. And if you don't know them all, you could surely create code to identify them.

These are not griefers. They are players engaging in PVP. They are fighting on their terms, not their targets, using every possible advantage they can think of. That is actually how you would want to fight most fights, now that I think about it, unless it's a duel at 20 paces. And a duel at 20 paces is most certainly not a good description of the Elite universe.

If you want Elite: Carebear mode, you can always try Solo, or maybe see if you can possibly get an invite to Mobius if you find the single-player version of Elite to be too boring. Not that I would expect Mobius to be much better than playing in Solo, but you do have options other than mischaracterizing regular PVP activities as "griefing".

Full disclosure: been playing since premium beta, and have only ever been attacked for no reason once or twice. But others have clearly had a different experience. So this is for them...

FD: In all likelihood, you know of the most prolific griefers. I'm not talking about pirates who demand cargo. Or players who take down players of the opposing faction in CZs. I'm talking about players who gang up on folks outgunned or outskilled, and blow them to bits for no good reason, and do so all the time. And if you don't know them all, you could surely create code to identify them.

So here's: the idea. Have the Thargoids attack them relentlessly. They need to be blown to bits constantly. Nowhere will be safe. Sure, we all want to experience the Thargoids, but tweak the code so that these players are attacked perpetually, or at least until they stop attacking others unprovoked or without demanding cargo as a pirate. Their tears will be absolutely delicious. And they'll never know. And the game will be better for it. Thanks in advance!

:)

Wait, no! The Tear Harvesters are already in overdrive with the recent UA/Station bombing developments! THEY CANNA' TAKE ANY MORE, CAP'N! THEY'RE GOONA BLOW!

Right, so what are you moaning about then? I'd wager most peoples experience are that of your own.

But others have clearly had a different experience.

Sure about that? I get the impression folks see people having a moan and jump on the 'griefer' bandwagon.

Cutthroat galaxy - did you miss that bit?

It would be interesting to see what social backgrounds these so called griefers have, I bet they are similar.
I am about to drive 200 miles and I know to give room to white vans as in my experience they tend to be aggressive drivers, can paint the griefers ships white?

What?

Funniest part of this is that the so-called griefers, aka, "open players" are generally far better equipped and skilled than the average commander and will likely make short work of any alien ships sent against them.

Exactly, I have A-Rated almost maxed Eng Grade 5 out Corvette and fight with Elite NPC Conda is about 30 seconds...so Thargoids need to be really good and overpowered...

Look, I don't like the kiddie griefers, but the OP is a bit silly. Sorry , but that would be as bad as the griefers for bullying.

Would be much better if they would just implement a sensible crime and punishment system already.
To stop griefers FD really needs to implement really harsh crime and punishment system and I think this maybe is not even not possible..will ban them from Open for griefing ?!
1) Big bounties will not solve the issue - will create easy exploit, that was done by players earlier...
2) Current AI is to weak to kill good PvP player, harder AI = casual players will complain a lot...

As long as you don't consider players shooting noobwinders any of my buisness (and thus no good reason to kick their teeth in), which the game clearly doesn't judging by my bounty, then I do this. So on behalf of myself and no one else, <no need for insults>.

Personally in my experience Thargoids of old used to fly With pirates so the highest bounties might be more of a magnet for them.

Crime and punishment needs BIGGER police ships to be sent after high bounties ending in a military response that is swift and deadly, with maybe a total galaxy wide ban on docking in their space making it harder for pirates to continue.

I have a feeling they might be. Someone once suggested that the "uber-AI" somewhere in the 2.1 Betas (I forget which) were a trial run for the Thargoids.

Let us not forget......according to the original manual, they show no fear, missiles will not be any good, and each octagonal "mothership" can spawn Thargons. I don't know how many, but I do know you have to destroy each Mothership to make them ineffective. And if I recall correctly from the 80's, they also travel around in wings.......

or let them target combatloggers?

oh you relog? here, have a octagon ship where you spawn in, no thanks needed..

I said to a mate the other night - if any aliens in this game even came close to mimicking the Thargoids in the original game, judging by the amount of outcry on here following the original 2.1 npcs the thread crying for them to be nerfed would hit 1,000 pages inside the first hour after release.

What are you talking about? In original Elite i am killing Thargoid left and right, until my cargo holds was full with aliens artifacts. And all that Thargoicide i was doing in Cobra!!

As an original elite 1984 player Thargoids werent too bad because you had the smart bomb. wait until they launched the drones then smart bomb the lot. would be a nice tactic against griefers too!!!

Those continuing to moan about griefers need to man up and fight back instead of whinging and trying to find answers. This is online gaming in an open world (galaxy) where there will be people KILLING EACH OTHER, it never fails to amaze me how some people round here can't grasp this blatant fact.

Sure a better crime and punishment system would be great BUT this won't magically stop humans attacking other humans for no reason, which is fine by me, live by the sword die by the sword!

Don't like it and can't man up? Play in solo then whine to FD when an NPC kills you! #RantOver

That's how you would want to fight most fights that you have to fight. But in reality you want to avoid most fights. A lot can go wrong in fights and there can be nasty consequences even if you win. So there has to be a compelling reason to engage in the first place. Being a computer game player is the reason in most cases - 'PVP' has no in game validity.

Whoa there - not all open players are griefers. As for the Thargoids: they'll be indestructible for a while. Of that you can be sure. And griefers aren't skilled: they typically hunt in packs (safety in numbers) and rely on their ships/weapons more than skill. That's why they love taking out low rank traders, and you rarely hear of conflicts involving a similar number of pilots in similar ships and of similar rank/experience. Skill doesn't come into play the vast majority of the time. If they wanted skill-based fights they'd be in Arena/CQC not Open.

Please go play No Man's Sky.
Abviously you know nothing about open PvP combat and Elite Dangerous game design.
