I see the game is still a Joke....

Yea but what we are doing is breeding the next gen of combat loggers with advice like that... logs vs npc.... then logs in combat vs npc..... then logs in combat vs CMDR,

its like the child that steals a candy... oh no that's not a problem.. its just a candy, ffwd a few years, and he is stealing cars :D

That's just a slippery slope. I was only pointing out that it is not an exploit. It is working as intended. It's a valid mechanic that you don't like.

If they want to do it, it's fine. It's no. Less valid than someone attacking them in the first place.

If you submit straight away you wont be pulled far away from where you were and you wont have a hard SC exit and can boost and chaff out of there right away with no damage.

You have a great headstart once back in SC and 9 out of 10 times make it then without any further hassles :)

I got interdicted 6 times in a row last week always between ~ 10 ls and 1 mm...those NPC's are annoying. After i logged once i finally made it with 30% hull.

Without any missions just some superconductors for van de Hulst.:p

I don't know when they completely broke the mini-game, but it is now impossible to win.
There is no point to even trying because your ship will spin at 1000rpm and take damage.
Submitting is the only option, then boost or run.

The thing is, they come into super cruise directly behind you and instantly begin the interdiction. Sometimes, you'll see something on your comms from someone that isn't even on the map. So, they aren't in super cruise, can see you in super cruise, and are able to scan your cargo.

NPC's are governed by a completely separate set of rules than players. If a player did this, it would be considered a hack. It's a very valid complaint.

Absolutely spot-on.

I am ranked elite in this game at combat, so I carry more than limpets every NPC is deadly or elite.

They come with some interesting upgrades from heretofore unrevieled engineers.

6) double engineered, short boot sequence AND increased jump range FSD.

Hey, I use this. It's great.:D

The rank based scaling of NPCs is awful. It needs to go. System security, economy and population should determine what kind of NPCs you meet, not your rank.

It's ok that low ranking NPCs decide not to interdict an Elite player, but it should not spawn more high ranking NPCs.

This. There is no point having it there if it's broken as it means the only option is to submit; no option.

I see nobody actually read the OP. The issue is with ships instantly appearing behind you and interdicting you without ever being in super cruise.
They're trying to get us ready for the Thargoids who hide out in witch-space so they can surprise interdict you.

I recommend if you are not outfitted to destroy an NPC ship, that you log out on it as soon as interdiction begins.
I've started doing this on all annoyance interdictions, especially those where I have no cargo racks installed but have demands made to jettison the cargo I can't even carry, and will continue to do so until the AI is REQUIRED to scan cargo BEFORE interdicting.

But I never seen cargo before interdicting an NPC if it's from the "right" faction.

So I've been away from ED for about 4 months and recently bought an Oculus so decided to give it another go. Gotta say that the VR experience is fantastic. But after 2 days of playing ED again I see there are still many issues I thought would have been ironed out by now, like the issue I am experiencing now:
I have a simple delivery mission but for some reason the game thought it would be a good idea to spawn a Fer de lance with master skill level to take me out on my final jump; I mean the game really knows how to annoy you, it waits until I'm 5 secs away from the station before interdicting me. This would be fine if I could somehow get away from it but I see FD are still cheating when it comes to AI; it doesn't even appear on my radar when in SC then bang, I am being interdicted and it pulls me out of SC instantly. I drop out of SC and my shields drop within 3 secs and there is no way I can fight it so I jump out of the system. I jump back (after repairing) and the cycle starts again... This isn't my idea of fun.

Well its possible that the Fer De Lance had really good power management and was very cool in which case it might take a while toa ppear on your own radar - doesnt mean it isnt there though. Same as when you enter cruise and you see no targets immediately - they are there it just takes a while for your radar to find them (depending on how cool there are presumably).

Dealing with interdictions 101:

- When getting interdicted, immediately submit
- When in regular space, boost right away
- Jump back into supercruise when you're 3km away

Unless you're being interdicted by a MUCH faster ship (because NPCs don't seem to like boosting), you should escape all interdictions with ease. I've seen situations where NPCs interdict me out of the blue, but it's usually ships I've spotted ahead of time as I can scan the hell out of every ship I come across in supercruise (easy mats). I have seen situations where NPCs appeared out of the blue, but it's usually right around stations, so I suspect they just entered supercruise nearby.

That being said, I have seen situations where NPCs travel with me to different systems, but only very few times, and only when I got a message from a mission contact saying that someone was after me. It's never purely random.

Yes its annoying because it has no mechanic for interdiction, AI are so wrong in this game. Npc just spawn and interdict you, the only goal for them is interdict you no matter what thay are going for you and are very stubborn.

People tell you submit and boost, yeah great mechanic for a game right? so much fun... :S

Supercruise and interdictions are broken. The game is filled with placeholders.

Used to have the problem and was complaining. yes it is anoying; but as it has been said before I have learned from others: 4 pips in a good shield plus mines plus a decent speed let you survive till you jump almost any encounter ( I tend to be down to 50pc hull and no shield by then) obviously you have to be reasonable after that treatment and repair to the nearest station. Greed and lack of patience will kill you if you try to go on with your journey with half hull

So you want the game to be magic , with super easy mode that makes sure you allways win no matter what?

An elite FDL can be killed easy in a stock sidewinder.

Part of the fun of elite is failure and being in situations you just can not win.

How could the NPCs do the impossible?
You cant scan cargo in SC

After I did a few mods at Elvira's, I think only about one in ten even gets a lock on me before I'm out.

4 sec. FDS boot and clean engine mod, for a cool and fast escape.

Just remember the A rated distributor, so you can perma-boost.

1. Erm. Nasty AI pilots trying to get at your cargo, either beyond any reason and common sense, or completely outclassing you as a player, has kind of been part of Elite since '84. For people saying 'I don't like interdictions when I'm trading (and I've just seen an unshielded player T9 go past me as I type(!) )' I think you're kind of missing the point of Elite. A bit. As to the OP, what was the rank of the mission you accepted? It may have been a 'simple delivery mission' but it may have also given you fair warning that there could be issues.

2. As to AI 'appearing out of nowhere', well yes, the spawning could be hidden a bit better, and be more consistent across instancing, but as the game is not actually tracking billions of NPCs throughout the galaxy, they are going to appear out of nowhere at some point. At the moment as the system is obviously simply tied to the active missions (aside from 'ambient'/'random' traffic), it does look a bit naff occasionally, and does lead to NPCs supposedly following you beyond feasible jump ranges. That strikes me just as a borderline acceptable programming shortcut, rather than an outright bug. The question is, are they also not appearing on scanner occasionally, which I believe they are doing, which is a bug?

Seriously? That's kind of a bit defeatist surely? How about submitting and then running? Since 2.1 dropped I've had a couple of close calls and one death (lost a Cutter!) in the beta, but running like hell worked just fine in Cobra, Vulture, Python and Cutter. I'll admit to not being able to speak about the T6, Keelback or T9, because, quite frankly I wouldn't touch those ships with a barge pole.

I get interdicted about 10% of the time overall, I don't even fight the interdiction, just submit. In my trading Python I've installed 4 2i mine launchers and with 1 exception, I've taken out every pirate that's interdicted me.... FAS, FDL, other pythons, wings of 2, etc etc. I just boost enough to stay ahead of them and pump out the mines until the pursuers explode....
The one time it didn't work I was caught by an iClipper that was faster than me and before I could take him out he was all over me. Because I submitted my FSD was charged so I just jumped (not low waked) out and when I jumped back he was gone.

Good Luck!
