Earth hunting by the numbers

On my latest trip I kept track of +/- ELW for a large number of stars in classes A,F,G,K,M. The derived frequencies suggest how to optimally weight manual plotting if you're specifically hunting for them, as well as what to expect if you're just cruising along with auto route plotting. Note that the data were derived exclusively from the right hand quadrant of the galaxy (viewed from above, Sol at bottom; Perseus Arm) so it can't be guaranteed that the frequencies will be the same elsewhere (though I'd guess that's the case). There are obviously too few ELWs identified in the case of M type stars for the data to be accurate, but at least it provides a ballpark comparison.

Class..........# Stars Examined..........#ELWs..........Frequency
..A...................1805........................34................1.9%
..F...................2701........................39................1.4%
..G...................2412........................26................1.1%
..K...................2808........................22.5..............0.8%
..M..................4665..........................5.5............. 0.1%

Below are a couple of favorite screenshots from the trip.

Were "stars examined" the main star of the system (that shows on the Galmap) or all stars you encountered in each system combined?

All stars in each system were counted. Roughly half the systems had multiple stars I'd say. I didn't track all the stars I encountered on the trip, only enough to get what I'd consider relatively reliable numbers.

Thanks for the intel but that was already known.

I did try to find the numbers by searching the forum, but couldn't find precise figures. Could you point me to them? The general ordering was of course known. Always good for newcomers to see anyway.

I can't find again the resource here for ELWs, but I have those for general TCs.

You can check the List Of Earth-Like Worlds v2 thread, but iirc the sheet is sadly missing very relevant info (too bad for a database of thousands of ELWs!).

@ Qohen Leth: I see. I was hoping for some new, constructive ideas, but hey, you can't always get what you want. Luckily for you, and others, work on OCR-ing in the planetary data is well underway.

@ TriSolaris: Sorry for not saying it earlier, but thanks for the data! Regardless of what Qohen said, all new data is useful. Even if it doesn't reveal new conclusions, as it's always good to reinforce what we (think we) know. In fact, if we had more data like this, that would be grand. I often wonder about the class M stars; how often one might find Earth-likes if one kept to the red dwarfs. But to be honest, I never could persevere with actually doing this.

Thanks Marx. I just gotta have numbers. I imagine all serious explorers know to go for the blues (GalMap) when hunting ELWs, but it's still satisfying to have precise data in hand. It's really not that hard to keep track as you move along on your journey - tick, tick, tick on the notepad. It's good to be doing as many things as possible while cruising along in the void anyway. Helps keep the space madness away. I really meant what I said to Qohen about coming up with any corroborating data from the forum (or elsewhere). I'd love to see how these numbers check out when examined along the main path through the center. Don't think I'll do it personally though.
