Equatorial cannonball run

I have a 2nd buggy so can still finish this thing :)
I can't see what would have destroyed me though....if fall was too hard (don't think so, but...) that would have been 1 maybe 2 %. The wee rocks at speed...maybe 10% and a throw up in the air. But 38%?
So......logged another ticket to see if it's a bug. Not so much to get a buggy back but because last time it was a "never to be repeated" so.....did it repeat?

Also starting to wonder if it's just my account. Since arriving at BP I lost visibility of all the systems I scanned on the way (support says they're still there) and the handful of "bounties" for scanning crashed beacons etc.....and now my buggy's are prone to spontaneous explosive reactions....
Oh! pfew! Good to hear that you still can continue.

And investigation is in order! Did you contact the Canonn about this? You can never rule out those pesky aliens [sour] ...

Excellent update. Good news on the impending completion of your mission.

I am currently plotting a T-6E friendly route though the Abyss with only a few J1s (so you only need Vanadium and Germanium) which might cut down on your Polonium and other J3 materials. I won't lie, it tracks Route 33 in places, but plots its own 27-29LY jump route. I am happy to share.

I swapped to Asp in March so have 30+ ly (34 ish I think.....been soooo long).

I think I've decided to head more or less straight to Jaques. Partially cos I want to hear the docking voices for myself and partly cos I need to know if my UC data really is intact or not. If it isn't......I shall be clear saving and aiming to get straight back to Jaques.
That's a long winded way of saying, yes. I will probably hit you up for the route when the time comes :)

I do hope that the remainder of your journey is less eventful.

Erm.....

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

That was just a video of someone else's SRV, right. You've not gone and exploded at this point, right? Right?

Unfortunately there's a 'tallica track that's applicable.. Sad but true.

Not the end of the world though.......I'm already at thr end of the galaxy after all!

nnnnooooo!!!!

Watched the video and I saw nothing out of the ordinary when you blew up...gotta be a bug!

Bummed!

Frawd

Thanks. I tend to agree it looks like a glitch. I'm not sure if the wierd pause is a result of thr video processing for web or in the original. Will need to check when I get home.

Last night I watched Captain Philips. I thought that was fairly traumatic. But this! It's heartbreaking.

It's funny you know. The first time I stared at the screen in utter disbelief for like 10 mins easy. This time it was; huh? Meh. that was unfortunate, hope the video was working....hit ok to rebuy.

I hit a cloaked vessel.....only explanation. :D

Damn, that must have smashed the last of the brandy. Your going to have to finish that trip now and get on the way back hopefully without anymore incidents. Glad you had a spare SRV, dont crash this one!!! Good Luck Cmdr.

Sadly yes, all alcohol is lost. I shall try fermenting tea...

This buggy smells. I'm sure The Rock Diviner did too, but not like this. This thing smells of plastic. Not surprising really give it's never been out of it wrapper till now.
I haven't given it a name - just buggy 2 for now. Can't bring myself to to be honest - the Rock Diviner saw me through nearly 7Mm and 120hrs just on this planet alone. Far far far exceeding the recommended 48 hrs between major overhauls. And I wasn't even using the ship regen hangar - I was sticking to old fashion hand tools 'cos, well....it felt right. Nostalgia eh? Nearly got me killed...again.

I don't believe in superstitious mumbo jumbo but it does seem odd that I would have nightmares of blowing up, just days before actually blowing up. I guess there was some nag at the back of my mind that something wasn't right, but not enough to consciously acknowledge it.

This new buggy pulls to left. At least, I thought it did. But letting go of the controls resulted in a pretty straight line. So I guess it's me. *I'm* pulling to left - probably habit countering the pull to the right of the Rock Diviner

With good fortune the end is nearing a reality. The galaxy has managed to wrap itself around the globe is is rising once more ahead and providing ample encouragement. So near.

The congratulatory party should be awesome. With an attendee from all over the galaxy, it's good job I've booked the only ticket! Still....I'll know. And in a few weeks, IGER headquarters should know. And shortly thereafter, 'everyone' will know. Mum will be pleased....until she realises I'm still 65kly away.

I had totally forgotten about WASP radio. The receiver broke looooong ago in The Rock Diviner and so I got used to my own 'music' - the shake, rattle, and roll of the buggy against the gravel. But, Buggy 2 is new....I had a fortuitous spasm and knocked the controller and you see, and got a loud buzz of static with a hint of a pattern. After I'd put my skin back on, I realised it was the radio....and turned the dial to WASP. Ahh, the joy. Music while you drive. That with sun blinding you from in front.....THIS is what I remember. Dark times over. This new buggy is a bit faster than the beaten up Rock Diviner - no doubt the unbuckled wheels and axles account for that. And so....onwards. We shall conquor...and it shall be today.

Ahh, the difference that light can make. Even the terrible bone rattlers look attractive after so long in the dark

Our of rep but that's a beautiful sight!

Best ever :D

A magnificant moment indeed! I can imagine that this sight must bring back some courage :).

Indeed. I shall not sleep till I'm done :D I do apologise for being a bit ahead of schedule and therefore being unable to share the finish but.....I really need a change of scenery :/ I recall someone mentioning some system a bit farther from Sol here somewhere - I might give that a whirl and come back. I intend be here when you arrive - else I'll come meet you en-route somewhere

I'm sure the bands were playing as I crossed the finish line - just couldn't hear them due to the vacuum...
