I think we should be allowed 3, one for open, solo and per private group.

That's probably because you play in Mobius.
Regardless of where I play, I still think just one additional should be sufficient.
If you want to have a slot for each game play type (Trade, Combat, Exploration) then two additional slots. How many do people need?
Well, they think they need 100 and when they get them, they start complaining that everything in the game takes way too long and they barely get to play 2 of them, so the game needs to be sped up considerably and you need to be able to transfer credits to your other 99 characters. And of course modded ships you don't need any more.. because "hand me downs" are in the spirit of the "new player experience.

I have often thought about a second account, usually when I am tens of thousands of ly away from the bubble. Its the cost that puts me off even with a lifetime pass on this account.
£20 for ED, £20 for Horizons, £20 for the next season, and on and on.
I would maybe pay £5-10 for an extra character slot maybe, but definitely only one cmdr at a time or we could end up with 100 Obsidian Ants, all in the same video.

I would gladly pay around $10 (one-time fee) for an additional commander slot. This would allow some support for Frontier. They could also put a reasonable limit on the number of CMDR slots possible.

I'd pay a little extra to have additional character slots. Although I have both an Xbox and a PC character tied to the same Frontier account. Adding more? I might not have time.
to be honest this would be one way that I could see justifying paying full price for the game each season. If I got one more commander 'slot' each time I buy an expansion, it would be a much more appealing option. The way it is I almost feel it'd be a better Idea to buy a new account each season instead.
Not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but waaay back FD talked about this, and one of the problems at the time was that CMDR data was too closely linked to account data. A 1 to 1 relationship.
They said they had taken some steps to unlink that data, but more work was required before they could get to the point of even considering allowing multiple slots.
This was well over a year ago though. Not sure if they have taken any further steps or even still considering it.
