100min from one side of the bubble to the other? My Corvette isn't even that bad, what the hell

might as well not put ship transfer in at all

Except, you wouldn't have to sit through every jump and could be doing other things until your dream boat arrives.

I've wondered this myself but I have no idea how far apart the most distance stations with a shipyard are from each other, within the bubble of course. Plus the 100 minute time will, if implemented, be tweaked if found too long.

If the delays are small times - as the poll seems to suggest - then it is a waste of time and I can see why FD had decided to make it instant.

Short delays are basically pointless, people will still fly any journey of size in their taxi Anaconda/Asp as its quicker and then call their ship of choice over. An arbitrary short delay in its arrival will then just prove an annoyance.

Now if the delay was instead an approximation of what it would take that ship to do the journey in, we end up with a more interesting environment. For example, something I posted from another thread on the matter:-

If delays are short, it'll prove no different to instant transport but with just an annoying delay.

As it stands, there is no option in the poll I believe I can vote on :(

I think the delays they are suggesting are in line with a ship/module transport hauler. They take longer than traveling in a dedicated explorer but not as long as a short range combat ship (say, the FDL). I'm pretty happy with that outcome, personally. I also hope they add these ships to the NPC universe. Think of the defend/attack convoy missions!

How do you log in to vote?

When I enter my 'Frontier Account' email & password, I'm told "Invalid Frontier Account"
But if I click the "my account' link at top right, I'm taken to my account page. I'm logged into my Frontier Account. I know the email & password are correct, because I can log into my frontier account.
What am I doing wrong?

Try the forgot password option, see if that helps.

Probably nothing. Try logging out of the account page and then click the vote link again.

We have a ship with a magic witchspace drive that can push is through in about 20 seconds.

My player character can wait "in game," I won't. Instant for me, please.

Not at all.

The proposed transit times shown in the OP are based around 3ly per minute, which is already 3-4 times slower than the worse jump range ships.
Not if you consider detours required for refuelling those ships or rerouts to avoid neutron clusters.

Thing is you don't have to wait (but you may have to plan). It will still add a major convenience to your gameplay. It's an excellent, best of both worlds option to have these delays.

We can considered that the 3ly per minute is an average travel time after already taking into account those things. After all, if 3ly was the actual transport ship FSD range, it would not be even able to jump anywhere as there are no systems within 3ly of each other except in the galactic core.

Principally, I like the idea of having "Push" orders over "pull" orders for ships because.. well.. if you're going to introduce this time delay element to reward pre-planning, then let me pre-plan, right?

I don't phone in a pick-up order at a restaurant when I arrive. I phone it in as I leave my house.

So like, let me pay the hundred mill it'd take to move my python over to Jacques, and let it take a week - but let me start it getting there before I arrive, then spend my time jogging after it in my Asp to meet it there.

The only problem I see with the timer is this...

The player base in need of fast transfer, might or might not increase their time in game...and could quit completely, because they do not have the time to bother.

Look at the 100 minute limit-that's a wait time of 1.66 hours. That means a player puts in their order and waits for the ship to show up. In my world, that means I hop into the game...place my order, and leave the game to play something else that day. <shrug> Basically, what is the company's point in putting this activity into the game? If it is to help the time poor be able to effectively play, then any timers are just a different way for these players to be frustrated. If there is any other reason...then leave the system as is...the change is unwarranted.

Utter nonsense. You still have the ship you are currently in. How about go and do some missions appropriate to that ship whilst waiting for the other ship to arrive. Also, the 100 minute wait would only be for the most extreme cases of transporting your ship from one end of thr bubble to another. If you managr your assets that poorly, then you *deserve* to wait that long IMHO.

So after thinking about it and fighting about it, I'm going to post my definitive opinion — not that it matters. :p

I voted for Instant as a "lesser of two evils" option, because I think the currently suggested delays are unreasonably punitive. What I would really like to see, though, is a plausible delay that will still allow me the flexibility to play in a way that's a little more spontaneous than what's allowed by current game mechanics.

What I would really like to see is both:
1. A cheap, "bulk shipping" option that roughly corresponds to the time estimates Sandro posted in the OP, or possibly longer
2. A fast, premium-priced service that hires a valet pilot to fly your ship to your current location, at speed, on demand

In my opinion, this would allow for the sort of special-use gameplay flexibility that the feature was originally designed to achieve, without breaking immersion or undermining the scale of the galaxy. I think it represents a reasonable "best of both worlds" compromise. Ultimately, I trust you to make the right decision and thank you for listening to our concerns!

Wasn't some very similar song already composed/written long ago by a band named Beatles ? :)

I'm not sure, I may have heard something similar on galaxy-wide Radio Skvortsov at one point but I'm not up to date on Solar music, at my time of manufacture I was only uploaded with contemporary gangster rap. Kermit doesn't have the best musical tastes.

Where did this pilot get his "speed" course? I can't be bothered to jump hundreds of times to unlock Professor Palin. Get me to Speed School!
