No, unless frontier go further than adding a simple timer, your ship will vanish, time will pass, it will then appear at the end of the delay. For the ship to appear in transit, frontier must do much much more than add a simple timer.
There is a reason they are indicating a flat rate, as N number of minutes over Y distance, regardless of ship type. Because that's easiest. I believe the RP element is that it's on the back of a space lorry.
Although I initially thought that instant ship transfer sounded like an odd thing it actually makes sense to me. If I have a reason for a particular ship at a particular time then why would I want to wait ? ED already takes a lot of time to play and I doubt people want to spend even more time waiting around for yet another "feature" to transgress.

I follow forums and what I seen no one ever asked for it to be instant. That part is true. Please show me the post where anyone ever asked for instant ship transfer before it was announced.
Errrr they haven't had 8.5M for long time as far as I know. A much, much lower number. Considering you can have free account now, it is really a moot argument.
Majority of us who vouch for delayed transfer has ZERO to do with EvE. It is space *strategy* game/social experiment player only driven enviroment. For ED that is different for completely different reasons. Immersion is one thing, but mostly because game gets developing and space legs coming soon. Problem is "instant" fans don't see full picture. Majority of old guard knows FD plans better. Thus "instant" people arguing it is just old fan base complaining really don't get it that ED exists because of them, not because of you. You are mostly tourists - if game triggers something, you will jump on something else. Major question is - will it be fun to play in few years time when additional gameplay can be added - like commanders or NPCs transporting your ship a bit faster rate, but bigger risk for getting it destoryed, or that you actually see your ship landing in station while waiting for it. And it is just what I could imagine in few minutes. All of this will be locked away, gone, impossible to go back to IF transfer is instant. And you gain VERY little for instant transfer. As I argued before it WON'T work as FD has imagined - no one will break up his/her routine just to visit combat zone. It NEVER works that way. You still do small planning ahead. What is important that you even CAN do such planning, and that requires ship transfer - not instant, but still transfer never the less. Call for ship, and wrap up for a day. Next day you will get your combat ship arrived and you will be ready.

Ship transfers should cost real money. I'd like to be able to buy a pack of them in the Frontier store so I always have them on hand.

Please show me where in my sentence I said the demand preceded the annoucement. Please show me the post where anyone ever asked for instant ship transfer before it was announced.Player demands instant transfer because they want immediate access to the fun stuff.
Instant transfer should be available to people who want it. If you dont want instant transfers then dont do it. Easy as that.
This decision only hurts the majority of the players and caters to the loudest tinniest minority of the games users.
What planning do you speak of? I am gong to fly to Jacques and dump my anaconda there. I buy a space taxi and take 12 to 15 hours to fly back to normal space to get my other ship. Sell the taxi and ly it back. All the while I am doing nothing but holding back on the flight stick and hitting the jump button once a minute. Or the planning where I am exploring around the bubble and I find cool planet I want to explore but my exploration ship is on a 100 minute or more wait away? Some peoples time are limited.
I only have 3 to 5 hours max a day on the weekend and 1 if that during the week. Waiting on something as benign as to getting access to my ship with a lander is a waste of my time. I dont see how planning equals waiting.
I don't have enough play time to wait for ship transfer but I believe it would maintain the feeling of how large the galaxy is and realism.
But it should be possible to send your ship anywhere in advance, rather than only being able to call it to your location.

Nobody asked for it not to be instant either. See I can play the I have no proof game as well.
To add more gamplay into future, it is called future proofing. Instant just doesn't belong to ED. If you can't find something to do with your other ship while waiting...why do you play game then?I voted instant as there is no point waiting. If it is a 5 min wait you sit and watch the clock. If i is half hour or one hour you go play something else or have a nap.
The game already soaks up a lot of time. Why add more time? realism...really? If so all should be perma death or float in capsule until rescued or die.
I already see 1 way instant ship transfers can hurt the game. I most recently to make serious money used my Cutter to do runs from Sothis and Ceos back to the bubble. With instant ship transfers itwould cut the time required for long range cargo runs like that in half.
1. Take an engineered Hauler which with the right rolls could get 53LY jumps to Sothis.
2. Insta call my Cutter there saving me over 20+ jumps and load it up.
3. Fly the Cutter and make all my deliveries.
4. Call the Hauler and fly back to Sothis
5. Rinse and repeat
Instead of the time it took me for 1 round trip in the neighborhood of 50-60 jumps. I make the same round trip in well under maybe as few as 20-25. I also avoid half the danger of the trip to my big ship
