The Clipper and its inability to launch fighters..

So are you people blind or just do not care about the fact that a fighter bay has to be built into the ship from the start? The fighter bay on the keelback is basically half the size of the ship.

It is not something you just add just because.

Why is this a hard concept to understand?

Riiiiight !

Never ever heard in medias of retcon ? Or balance ? Especially coming from FD ?
For that matter, please go ahead and tell my Eagle (or Sidewinder) with a vehicle hanger that she shouldn't be able to sport one.

Forget SLFs, the Clipper needs a base shield buff.

How is it that the Cutter, which is larger and heavier, gets a better base shield rating from a given shield (class 5, 6 or 7) than the Clipper?

I'm not a Clipper pilot, but I'm just sayin'......it doesn't add up that a C7 shield on a Clipper underperforms compared to the same C7 shield on a Cutter, which is larger and heavier.

The Cutter was built using a higher percentage of handwavium...

Problem is the Clipper is only a Large Pad because of parts of his Ships Stretching far out.
Its actual Body is really small and really Slim Build.

Not just because of the engine pylons. Clipper is also very long. Longer than Python and T7, and as long as a T9.

Useless?!?!? USELESS?!? #triggered

The Clipper is a fantastic ship! It's incredibly fast, can carry a good amount of cargo, and has decent hardpoints (placement notwithstanding). And with Engineers, it becomes an absolute beast. If it was to get a fighter bay, then I don't think it would be balanced in regards to the other ships. I will say that I think it's got the dimensions to launch the fighters (greater LxWxH than the Federal Gunship), but that argument could also be made for the Python. I'd much rather get a whole new ship (Imperial Gunship anyone?) than tweak the existing ships in ways that might break them.

Also, it's the sexiest mining ship in the land, thank you very much.

> Yes! MOAR SHIPS! [yesnod]

If deployable fighters are any good (if), and you insist on bays for clippers, then you're going to need to give FDLs a bay as well.

Happy to demonstrate that reasoning on any FDL pilots at the current CG. Only ones giving a fully modded clipper a good beating 1v1 are hitting thrusters (packhound skillz ftw) when the shields are down (for how many seconds?) while running double+ chaff. Last guy to do that to me ran out of ammo while I was rebooting.

Clipper is great right now. Not the top dog, but it's great. Barring any major changes to the other primary combat ships, please disregard any requests for moar clipper power. It's nonsense. Clipper is great right where it is.

I've just been head to head with an AI-piloted Clipper in a Cobra Mk IV. The Clipper kept firing some kind of glowing ballistics at me, but they missed because it has a blind spot in the center caused by the wide pylon firing points. Against smaller (and maneouverable) ships it is at a great disadvantage.

But what a beautiful lightshow, watching those plasma balls whiz by the canopy :D

AI loadouts often make no sense, but they seem to love their plasma accelerators even when you'd struggle to hit a planet with them on a Clipper...

I've flown Clippers with Dual class 3 plasma accelerators before. The key is to chainfire (aka, one a time) with a lot of Yaw usage — something the NPCs are completely incapable of.
