Transfer Poll Results

Congrats, Frontier in caving and detrimenting gameplay for the sake of so-called immersion times. As an avid role player, not just here, but in other games as well I am deeply disappointed in an unnecessary time sink being added to the game just for the sake of people not being able to suspend their disbelief. Good job...

I do find it funny that after such decisive results, with so many responses, after mass e-mailing every player, the instant side is still trying to hold on to the Silent Majority(tm).

Besides, the Illuminati tells the silent majority what to think, and I have a reliable informant who says the Illuminati were in favor of real-time transfers. /tinfoil ;)

I could probably finish the rest of Sons of Anarchy that I need to finish with the time I notice that doesn't need my full attention. The time is amplified if you are an Explorer doing jumps to a new section of stars, a trader doing runs, a miner waiting for limpets to fill your cargo, super cruising to a station... The list goes on, there is most certainly time for multi-tasking. I don't see it as a problem and yes, some people do need stimulation every second. We're in an age where that's possible, so it's done.
All the things you mention are not time wasted in the game, they are time spent playing the game.
You want instant jumps, instant trade runs, instant mining and instant travel between space stations? I can see why you are frustrated, you have apparently no imagination, or sense of perspective.
And yet you can be stimulated by watching TV?? The most mind-numbingly non-interactive, intelligence sapping, and lethargic activity currently known to the human race? Your mind would boggle, if you cared to use it. Wow.

VERY GOOD! :D

I had a feeling this was going to be the result.

Now lets hope that they actually bring some large transport ships into the game to provide some immersion for the ship transfer process. :)

There are things, but there is only one thing an average player will be interested to do at any given time. Like, winging up with his buddy and shoot stuff for some time. He won't just switch to mining or exploration while he waits for his FDL to show up - it is much more likely that he`s gonna simply close the client and do something entirely different than playing ED.

No, no. I regularly make my friends wait on me to get ready for paintball because I want to spend 20 minutes fossiking for gems. I keep telling them they can just explore the field while they wait, but for some reason they're still unhappy with me. =]

And you do your trade runs and your bounty hunting in the same ship?

Sometimes, depends what ship i am in at the moment. But if I want to do something else in a different ship I can call another ship and continue to do what I am doing for the next 5 minutes or say. Or go and get my ship myself depending on the circumstances.

I don't know how you could have possibly taken any of that away from what I said and in the context of which I was saying it. I personally have Twitch streams up while I play Elite for some background noise. Could I watch a movie or TV show? Yes. Does that mean I need or want everything in the damn game to be instant, no. Take your snotty little attitude and go pound sand.

Thank you for putting it to a vote.

Excellent news. Could we have massive ship freighters in the game and ship transfer missions available to players at some point in the future please?

I still think we need to try and add some of the features of instant, but in a more palatable way.
Maybe as part of a military career you could have access to to their hardware at war zones.
A bit of instant game play for those who crave it.

-ship scanning : instant
-planet scanning : instant

All those things you have to do thousands of times could become instantaneous.

THAT would be awesome and a HUGE relief.

If the only thing those players like to do is wing up with friends and shoot things, why aren't they in their combat ships in the first place? I'm pretty sure a player who cares only for combat is not trading in a T9 300ly away from his FDL.

Yep, that's what the whole instant side is doing. Every single one of us. You should be sign up for the Marines and be a Scout-Sniper, you have amazing perception.

Hello Commanders!

Just to let you know, I'll leave this thread sticky for now, but probably un-sticky it by the end of the week.
*At the risk of going full journalist gotta try one last time :D*

Mr. Sammarco,

Can you let us know how this will affect module transfers or is it too soon to discuss?

Hey Sandro,

Just wanted to pose this question again as the thread is starting to engage supercruise speed and alas older posts have no FSDs :p

What will this result mean for module transfer?

Thank you kindly for letting us have a vote on the matter and letting us know the results Sandro and yes it has been a positive experience in my opinion.

Can you let us know what this result now means for module transfer please?

Thanks again.

Let's be honest here. 30% of the player base is nothing to scoff at and it isn't like most of these people are haters of the game (though, I'm sure some of them are). We have a diverse community of greatly varying opinion of what will make this the best space game out there. It has always been tough getting through these contentious decisions but it is all for the better.

Just remember, in the next discussion, you will probably be agreeing with someone you have disagreed with before, so as always, at least try to treat each other with respect (I have to relearn this lesson all the time).

Mind you, if your 'average player' therefore falls within the 30% portion wanting instant ship transfer, he's not necessarily representative of the 'average' player at all......

The cool part is that we're already on page 43 and there is zero doubt we'll have at least another 200 pages with virtually nothing other than:

1) FD caved in!
2) No, they listened to the playerbase!
3) *Back to 1)*

That question was answered in the very beginning. They will be handled the same way, so that means delay on module transfers as well.
