HTC Vive resolution and  focus

I might be going insane, but I just logged into Elite and my Vive is crystal clear. I've never seen it so clear. Great performance, no dancing lines, and perfectly legible text. Was there an update? I don't understand. Maybe I'm just seeing things...

Nope, still crap for me unless I mess with the usual config file etc.

I was tempted to buy an Altex Hammer upgraded to a 1080 video card and the HTC Vive. Out the door it would be about $3500 - $4000. Is it worth it?

Well, I don't know about "Altex Hammer" but 1080 certainly help, the Nvidia sais that the card is optimised for VR and based on the reviewrs it should have enough power to max out multisampling which helps much with the focus and clearnes of the image...

yep lets hope :) 3 days left to see that tweaks

Probably just some menu changes (trading screen curved ect... ). I would expect more noise from FD if they have fixed the rendering. But hope is a beautiful thing and I still have some, so fingers crossed :)

I've finally been spending a good amount of time playing Elite with my Vive, now that it is playable. I've got a GTX 1080 and oddly, it seems like the sweet spot for me is with the VR Low preset and supersampling at 2.0 or even 3.0. It seems like the more detail, the harder it is on the eyes.

I'm also hoping some of the color schemes are improved for Vive. I've noticed when you're in the white, palm tree type stations that not only is it hard to look at, but you can barely make out that calamine lotion pink from the holographics. You really have to squint to make out your landing pad number.

It definitely needs more polish, not just from a rendering perspective, but all gripes aside, I really enjoy playing Elite in VR. I hope the Devs really continue to focus on and polish this area of gameplay.

Frontier: You have a responsibility for the future of VR

Bought a Vive exclusively for ED and have been using it for 5 weeks now. It's good as is, but could be so much better with a moderate amount of tweaking. (Moderate from a non game developer's perspective)

Please, Frontier, don't let down your VR customers. This game is - by far - the best VR experience out there and the main reason a lot of consumers move to VR. You have a huge responsibility for the future of this technology, so please weigh this into your consideration when you choose where to spend developer hours.

Thank you in advance.

I agree with many above, ED is an amazing VR experience that takes some work by the user. Fingers crossed for any signs that they're thinking about us VR users now and in the future!

No mention of HTC Vive in the changelog. Not optimistic.
There wasn't.... Basically they updated to the 1.4 Library for OpenVR and put in a bunch more graphics presets besides VR Low and VR High. There is one that includes a super sampling of 1.25... like none of us here already didn't know how to do that. Sigh.

Well, that is disappointing, but not really surprising at this point. I think they bet on the Rift in early development and now just don't have a big incentive, or the resources, to develop a fork for Vive, so it's all half-measures.

Can anybody with Beta Access confirm that 2.2 brings no change for Vive users? or has it improved? Channel logs don't seem to give much hope as it doesn't mention Vive specifically at all, but maybe some of the changes lead to improvements and if so I would happily pick up the Beta, but if there are no changes I see no point :(

Only had a quick check but there has been no obvious fix applied with regards to the Vive issues, still need to use the steam config hack. :(

Screw it. I just ordered a Rift. They either have no intention of fixing it or it's such a huge Dev task that they're just going to put it off indefinitely.

I did some test on 2.2 with my Gtx 1080 setup.
They changed only font size and added background in menu and stations.
Nothing really changed in spaceship huds or scale , AA issue the same like in 2.1
Meybe is only me but noticed a bit FPS gain like + 5~ 10 fps in some situations.
Also fps indicator ( ctr +f ) changing colur when fps is lost.
