So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

It'll be a massive neon sign visible from Andromeda, saying 'Mystery here!
At least I hope it is... I'm over by Hawkin's Gap right now.... a long way from the Formidine rift

This is actually the biggest motivation for me to continue my journey to the rift rather than just gouging out my own eyes and self destructing...

So the anomaly thing I've been seeing in my Nav Panel, still exists in 2.2 beta. Still in the same systems I have marked as having experienced it previously. This is slightly older player data, so it doesn't have my more recent explorations - but it does have some of the star systems I noted as anomalous marked in the GalMap and I was two jumps away from one. So I jumped in, and same behavior.

Or drew is talking about the aliens, which probably won't be seen in the beta. I think we'll accurately know where the rift is when we find out that all the water/ammonia worlds we've been seeing has been the clue the whole time and now there's capital ships around all of them.

I meant to imply that players will be able to benefit from certain 'enhancements' after the beta v2.2 is concluded. No advantages given to beta players.

Cheers,

Drew.

What kind of enhancement?

Enhancements could mean graphical, or audio. I've even been paying close attention to the FSD jump tunnel, and seeing if anything strange or new is going down in there as I pass through the "broad area" of the rift.

Enhancements™ don't have to mean what you think they do, though. Just ask anyone with United Airlines Frequent Flyers...

The graphical changes are already present though. The "enhancement" is specifically mentioned to be post beta, which pretty much means the alien invasion imo.

I disagree, because it could be found before. This just may make it stand out more, and also - it's already been stated that whatever is part of the Rift mystery is something more troubling/difficult/whatever "and they though the Thargoids were trouble" means so Thargoids are out.

Also, it didn't require Horizons to be found - so if there was something visible to be added FDev would have/could have tossed shipwrecks across the planet surfaces and someone would have come across something if it was so prevalent that people could have run across them without realizing it.

It is something large, something that has many pieces that need to be put together - it isn't going to be a single visual indicator. It can't be if "parts of it" were come across but not realized what they were.

yeah the Rift has been in the game since gamma... but how many of us have solved it since? A clue or two, even if it's just a recoloured nebula or other subtle hint would be a good thing. A good mystery is one thing, but a mystery usually starts with some observable anomaly that you then figure out. At the moment we have a mystery but we have no idea what that mystery actually is, aside from it's something out near efots/the rift that no-one has ever found in two years of looking, despite being bombarded with clues from Drew and ingame.

Could still mean the Thargoids.

"And they thought the Thargoids were trouble, just wait 'till you see their Queen ships..."

Yup, exactly this.

it would be very unlikely that anything new with 2.2 has anything at all to do with the rift.... something that has been in the game since gamma.

Those aren't mutually exclusive statements.

Let's say that the rift is the barnacle aliens "bubble". We know the rift and Pleiades are linked after all.

Right now, there are no ship models in game, or alien AI programmed. So what we could be looking for is a lit up planet, or a space station orbiting something, or signs of intelligent life we aren't exactly sure how it would manifest even if we were looking right at it.

Post 2.2, the aliens arrive. Which means ships. Which means supercruise is about to get a lot more populated wherever the aliens are, something that will immediately be discernable once you enter a system rather than the unknown needle in a haystack we aren't even sure is the correct haystack.

All of the added visual effects to stars have been shown to be functional and present in the beta. The new ships, fighters, etc are all there. The only thing that is unlikely to appear in the beta but show up when 2.2 goes live due to the massive poop storm that would be caused are the alien fleets.

The hypothetical Planet nine has not yet been given a name in RL, but FD has chosen the name Persephone (have been used in other Scifi). This may or may not be linked to Persephone's potential significance in the rift mystery.

Persephone is the proposed name for the conjectured (based on the orbits of other trans-neptunian objects) 9th planet in our solar system. FD have jumped the gun a little and added it to Sol in game.

*tinfoil hat mode* unnecessary in this case. Sometimes a spoon is just a spoon.

Wonder if it will be relevant to the Rift mystery search? Core related to one of the clues, and there is some relationship between original 7 veils (entry procedure to the Underworld) myth & Kahina. And Drew mentioned that we would soon need a Sol permit. Think I'll cross post this.

Well, you've either got a really weird bug, or else you're close to finding something. Good luck!

Wait when did the rift and the Pleiades become connected? I very much view them as separate things entirely or did I miss something.

The message from Salomé just before her abduction mentioned that the Pleiades, the Formadine Rift, the Hawking Gap and Conflux were all related somehow.
