There is also another trick. Open up Microsoft's speech dictionary and add a word manually or you can prevent a word being recognized. Very handy.
I bought VoiceAttack! yesterday. I then spent a little while setting it all up. I then realised that for single button press commands it's not much use. Just a gimmick really. There is also another trick. Open up Microsoft's speech dictionary and add a word manually or you can prevent a word being recognized. Very handy.
You can use the VoiceAttack main panel to see what it thinks you are saying.
Like the 'Speed' 'Spend' example someone gave above.
If you say 'Speed' a couple of times and you keep getting - Unrecognized 'Spend'
Go to Edit mode and edit your 'Speed' command so it shows this:
When I say: Speed;Spend
(note there are no spaces between the words and the semicolon)
This will assign both words to that command.
It will then update your list of commands to the following
Speed(multipart)
Spend(multipart)
There is a radio button in the settings somewhere to change how the keys are sent. Mine was DX by default (I think it was DX). Have you tried that?I'm trying to set up Voice Attack, Have followed all instructions, Voice Attack is working, Its recognising my commands and sending the specified keybinds.
However ED is not responding to the keybinds.
Voice Attack is set to run as administrator, have tried using active window and sending keys direct to ED Client with no effect.
I can send keys to notepad and it will respond by typing the keys sent.
But ED seems to be completely ignoring them.
Any help appreciated
Thanks.

I agree that, with the Rift, using the keyboard will be difficult, but without it VA is just so much slower for navigating the side panels. Don't get me wrong, I am lovin' it, lovin' it, lovin' it.My view is that removing hands from Joystick/throttle to the keyboard is needless with VA, plus I am seriously considering Oculus Rift then it gets to consumer version. VA will be awesome then.
If a "length" is required, give it one and see what happens.Pretty sure I have tried both methods, will double check if and when im able to login to ED again, right now I just keep getting "Unexpected server Error: LengthRequired"
I think I had to increase the press time to 0.2 sec when i set mine up.

thanks all for the help
the voice training definitely made a difference - the word it doesn't seem to like for me is "weapons" which is rather crucial
will have another run through the voice training and practice a bit more
HOWEVER - i have decided that my mic is indeed a pile of crap - so would welcome any suggestions for a good quality mike/headset combo
cheers

Glad you got there in the end.The LenghtRequired error was from The ED server while trying to login to ED, not from VoiceAttack.
All is working now
Thanks
