Seriously what legend? I remember Wizadore... it was very colourful. then Stryker's Run .... then well .... barely heard of him until Wing Commander pretty much rammed his name into every orifice and that only got louder thereafter.

I really have no idea where this legend came from. Could you describe to me what made him a legend in your eyes?

Don't forget the mobile app with $ -> ConMoney purchases. This is going all the way into F2P P2W mobile game territory - they know they've probably sold all the units they're going to, in-app purchases to avoid having to tend your farm for a year to afford a ship after your last one are stolen are so hot right now.

Oh Lord. I loved Strykers Run.

Simulating gravity on bullets and adjusting the sights to that in SC is kinda stupid, because when you're in space then your sights would be useless. The best approach is to have it like it is, no sight convergence. Same accuracy at any distance, and it's barely noticeable.

If you don't need adjustment for windage or elevation then this seems like the best solution to me.

certain characters have several (reported up to six!) different models, as certain scenes had to use entirely different models for the same character due to model size, lod and poor mocap translation

My reaction to that can be best expressed here by Susan (at 8:28).

To keep the coupling theme going... replace the last bit with "I've got too many models"

So, P2D then?

ps: Too soon? :D

No, not too soon, currently, I am dissappointed with the progress (or seeming lack of progress). I only really comment on what I have to play with, what I have experienced for myself. The only thing that can change my mind is the game itself, and hopefully, improved versions delivered to my desktop.

Other than Freelancer which was shipped early by the publisher, please give me specific examples of your claim in bold with vivid details.

Projects is plural so you must mean more than one.

Strike Commander. Might've been before your time but Chris promised a living, breathing world with groundbreaking AI etc - sound familiar?

There's not autoaim in Star Citizen. You aim/align your guns manually. There's no auto-gimbals.

Which is a shame IMHO, auto-aiming gimbals (with timelag to get on target, restricted targetting cone, balanced innaccuracy (wobble), and counter-measures against the auto-aim (chaff) - see ED gimballed weapons and how they work) would make the space combat much better. Manual gimbal aiming is something I particularly detest in Star Citizen - the zero-order control given to mouse users has put the gameplay too far into the "casual game" zone for me. So I try to play with HOTAS - which is a pain to get set up and tuned properly (yes, I know it's an alpha, but I've been waiting for this to be sorted for over 2 years)

This is my personal opinion.

Aahh yes - what was it they said about no mouse controls like Freelancer? :D

It was Ben Lesnick in some internet radio interview in 2013 - he said the controls will definitely NOT not be like Freelancer, but like Wing Commander.
What did we get?
Controls like Freelancer.

Thank you both. Osmanthus, I use kb/m for Elite, but it just doesn't have the right "feel" - especially with bulkier ships.

Ozram, I could never use a regular controller for SC, Elite, or anything that requires me to be in the pilot's seat. Heck, I refuse to use a controller for almost anything except the more arcade-y games. And since I prefer to fly bulkier ships/planes in the games I play, I'm thinking a HOTAS would be just right (again).

Don't know how much cash you have to spare, but you might want to try something cheaper first before investing in a full HOTAS. In case you don't get on with it. I started with one of these:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Speedlink-...74615765&sr=8-1&keywords=black+widow+joystick

Then upgraded to an X52 pro. For the money it was grate.

*Nods slowly with brow furrowed in contemplation*

Actually yes - almost certainly because of!

The thing about that is it could be entirely fabricated.

But on the other hand based on everything that we've seen so far it's also entirely believable.

Time for Occam and his amazing razor I guess..

Marking this down- Curious to see how much complaint there will be when this realise at 99% :D

Goddamn, those are two things I had completely forgotten.

1 - I played Strike Commander;

2 - CR designed it...

Good lord, I'm old...

Why the heck are there "two joysticks" as a "method" for controlling? That is absolutely absurd that even exists.

Nah, it's quite good. I've experimented with it in Elite.

Right stick is Pitch/Roll, left stick is lateral and vertical thrusters, pedals for Yaw. Getting a usable throttle control can be problematic unless you're happy switching too/from the throttle/left stick all the time, or using the pedal's toe brakes for throttle (I'm too cack-footed for that).

Of course, in Star Citizen you really only need a mouse.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least - and a precedent has been set.

Still look on the bright side - not long till citcon!

Oh my, how DARE we have the AUDACITY to form our own opinions and not just submit to the "sunshine & smiles" marketing stuff, and believe that everything is fine and wonderful.....

Deliver something CIG, and please let it be good.

Really? That is pretty pathetic.

Why so much fear, I wonder?

Yet, we are constantly told we are the unreasonable trolls...hmpf

There is direct evidence of an obvious attempt a page or so back by a guy who has since been banned.

They basically talked about why SC was being attacked so much in this thread and that it's a wonder how it's been allowed to be left open because of the *blatant* moderator bias, unchecked bashing of CIG and SC and the forum users circumnavigating the forum rules....

Which is most amusing because most of his own posts where blatant trolling, attacking directly other posters (DSmart) and badgering! Hence why they got swiftly booted off the forum.

So the r/ds squad tried to get this thread closed.

They WANT to get this thread closed because it has dissenting views about Star Citizen.

Yo, r/ds?

This little sub-forum to a GAME that actually exists, is very playable and has been successful, isn't going anywhere. :)

You can print-screen this comment on your sub-reddit and rage away at my obvious disrespect to Chris Roberts and CIG.

I'll be just here laughing at you all. :)

more news from the dark side...

no 3.0 this year (duh), release date is now "after [a significant portion of] SQ42 is released"
ship sales will continue
there's yet another new studio involved (most likely contractors/outside dev pool) for planet artwork/maps
"The Squadron 42 [Prelude] has to hit its [Q1 2017] goal. No more excuses." unsure who, just listed as "top exec"
a lot of mocap issues with translating them directly into the game, mostly due to character and players size (?? not sure what this means)
"Expect a lot of cutscenes."
mocapped characters are fine stationary (sitting, standing, etc) but currently anything involving complex animation makes the models freak out, mostly clipping and clothes problems (still)
certain characters have several (reported up to six!) different models, as certain scenes had to use entirely different models for the same character due to model size, lod and poor mocap translation
specific reshoots using stand ins for A list actors are ongoing, mostly animation, actions and poses (still occurring as of q3 2016)
FPS AI still murders everything through walls, doors, whatever
certain departments continue to pump out work at an incredible rate while others snail behind, causing back up and necessary "refactoring" when certain elements do not work or had scope change
heads of department told to "turtle" and avoid outside influences (?? )
they can't get the intricate damage model to work in SP/MP at all yet, ships continue to randomly jumble themselves to death

citcon
crunch time continues for all studios, many people are working seven days a week for the citcon showing
companion app with $ to ingame currency purchases, chat, etc (design phase only, citcon slide)
new A list cutscene, wrapped shooting july 2016 (majority of overtime is spent working on this)
touting multiple SQ42 endings on one citcon slide, also says it directly affects SC world/player character
FPS purchasable classes still a thing and one of the major things they are revealing
SQ42 prelude still listed as march 2017
^ "no way we'll hit that deadline" ^
Roberts: 2.6 should be playable at Citcon
nothing playable at this time, live streams still using 2.5

source
Same guy who posted this also predicted that 2.7 will be renamed to 3.0 before anyone saw that coming
Certainly some thruth to it
