Horizons FED UP WITH NPC'S HAD ENOUGH FOR ONE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok the thing is very simple.

I fly for 1 week now the asp explorer and take all kind of missions just to earn money
and obtain the upgrades I want, I suppose that you all understand... the usual drill.
Well today I've been shot down 7 times (That means roughly 7.500.000 cr)
5 from the same NPC!!!!!!!

What the !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excuse me for being, I just want to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last 2 shot downs I was EMPTY!!!!!!

WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO HERE??????

Screw the dynamic universe that is !!!!

I love the game and I don't intend on quitting but COME ONE MAN----

Give me a little slack here!!! What kind of pimping is that?????

At the bottom line I don't care about battles I just need credits to make my ship travel
far away.

Ok Frontier put a leash to your hounds because you make me real tired.
I have a life and job I can't stay online for ever!!!!!!!
I've paid for the game I want the joy I once had with it.

I totally agree that the interdictions are out of control and I absolutely hate it, however....

DO NOT ACCEPT MISSIONS and you reduce your chances of being interdicted. In particular a mission briefing might say that hostile ships will be sent against you - that just means that you can guarantee being interdicted.

So if you want to make money, do something else - rare goods trading is very profitable in an Asp for example.

If you do want to continue doing missions then learn how to survive being interdicted - submit, boost (and chaff if you want), select a nearby system (galaxy map bookmark is your friend here), engage hyperjump (not supercruise), then come back and complete the mission, the interdicting NPC will probably not return this second time.

Do you have any video of your ships being attacked? This would really help to figure out what you are doing wrong...

At the very least watch this video on YouTube https://youtu.be/R4PfBWyMeLg

As a minimum have 4 Pips to Systems and 2 to engines. It's counter intuitive when you are trying to run but belive me, I've taken this advice from others and it has made the world of difference! It keeps your Shields up while your FSD charges.

Always set a next system jump point as soon as you jump into a system. This saves precious time when you are interdicted.

Submit to an interdicted immediately! This drastically reduces your cool down time for FSD jump away.

After 2.1 'Skynet', I had the stuffing kicked out of me Big Time just as you are now. I was furious with the game and ready to quit on a game I love. Thankfully people here helped me figure out what I was doing wrong!

I spent a couple of months honing my evade and escape tactics. I'm pretty good at it now and can get away from every ship that comes after me.

Recently, having slowly rebuilt my confidence, I've now gone back on the offensive and Boy, does it feel Good! I know when I get into hot water how to get away, fast. That makes the world of difference in terms of confidence.

I hope you can post some video footage so that we can see what you are doing. That would really help people to help you more!

This is a better video but still not the one I was looking for https://youtu.be/woy8nmaVuVg

The missions killed you. Not the npcs. Missions attach npcs to you. They will follow until you complete the mission.

You may want to stick to something easier like exploring. Doing anything else will attract npcs.

First of all thank you for your time,

Of course you realize I'm an amateur with the game BUT.... I REALLY LIKE IT!!!!!!
I watched the video, I've studied similar technics, I 've tried to be cool and relaxed while playing
And think before act!!!!!

Today though was an extravaganza of slaughtering!
Really it was almost funny (besides the credits I lost ).

I know I have to try harder and I will.

Anyhow... all the advices are worthy for me and any other rookie so please keep "shooting"

Thanx again and sorry for the attitude on the first post.

I also have a Cobra MKIII and I had a lot of missions accomplished with her,
many interdictions and fights but I survived more, I suppose I had easier opponents though!

how is your AspE outfitted? maybe you can "rebuild" it at coriolis.io and throw a link here - i am asking, because an a-grade cobra mkiii is the safiest ship there is pre-engineering, and decent shield and a-class thrusters and powerplant to run a AspE performing as well as that cmkiii will cost more than a a-grade cobra.

i still fly a cobra mostly, when i do mission runs - because it is that safe...

Good reply, great perspective & advice. Have some rep.

It's in the title of your Ship "Explorer" - it's not for Missions to risk.
Suggest that Cobra and just run and never stay to fight on Missions.
If you still require to move up for jump range then simply carry Shock Mines to drop before you charge FSD.
Problem is, any previous Interdictions you get carry on and may land into a 2nd new unwinged Interdiction.
Impossible by us and yet deemed ok by FD when they are too busy with Gamescon and new 2.2 to even bother acknowledging this as a bug! Just like life - they don't have any time to even care.
FD still owe me 6.4million!

Over the past two weeks I have been increasing my federal rank to get a Gunship, I have to say the interdictions have been pretty much non existent. I have probably done about 70 missions in the past 2 weeks, mostly Boom Data delivery and haulage, I would say I have been interdicted less than 10 times.

Perhaps it is the system(s) you are playing in? I made sure to do my missions in heavily populated Federal space (surrounded by high security systems). Also, my "home base" where I am taking most of my missions from has several ports all less than 100LS from the Star, this means you basically have little chance to be interdicted when you travel from the star to your destination.

These things all help too and are worth looking at if you feel you are being interdicted too much. - Stay in high security space, pick systems where your destination is only a short distance from the Star. If you are interdicted, submit and run. I always run, unless it's a Cobra or some thing similar sized. I am in a Federal Assault ship and could take on bigger ships, but it wastes my time, so I run mostly - I'll fight on my terms and when I am not already focused on some other task.

Have you joined a Powerplay faction? That causes lots of NPC attention.

Are you taking missions that require a rank above your current level? Those will find you being attacked by very tough NPC ships.

DO SOMETHING IT'S ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slightly different take from me, but I am a long-standing Elite pilot so I have some insight here too.

I am familiar with what the OP is talking about because I just did a Modular Terminal grind in SOL a couple weeks back, and ran into exactly what the topic is; A persistent NPC that won't go away no matter what you do (mode switch included). I even pulled this persistent NPC into a station instance and he was killed by the station, only to have the same "Hostile NPC" respawn (guess the mission I delivered wasn't the one he was sent for) on the next run. It was actually kinda creepy.

So, what I do (and I wouldn't recommend it if you are low on credits, its an experience thing I guess) if I'm close-ish to the station is leap frog my way in to the station and pray the mission I'm delivering was the cause of the persistent NPC. I hate having to re-makeup that ground again because that's exactly what would happen if you jumped out, have to do it all over again. Also, I'm stubborn and impatient :)

If you pop into a system and you get a "tasty cargo" message or the "I've come a long way blah blah blah" message or any of the other hints you can either just jump back out and jump back in and see if you still get that, or just keep on keeping on. This is dependent on the distance to the station. If it's a hike then maybe jump in and out a couple times and see if it's a persistent NPC or just a random encounter, watch the NPC names in the messages.

If you manage to get close to your station but get interdicted, boost boost jump boost. If you get the "tasty cargo" or other messages like before immediately throttle back and drop right there. boost boost jump boost. The object here is to AVOID the interdiction because that pulls you back away from the station and you either have to jump out and start over again or just keep getting interdicted hoping the interdictions would stop. If it's a persistent NPC, odds are they won't stop.

A few other things:

The Pips to SYS or to ENG thing, I don't necessarily agree with the the general bent here. It's a frame of mind thing. If you are going to haul or deliver missions and have no desire for combat whatsoever, you'd want max-boost;

1) Unless you are in open or are suffering a Mobius invasion. If you are getting interdicted by a commander, MAX SYS. In my experience these brave souls spawn right on top of you and are almost never alone.

2) If you are curious about what the intentions are of the interdictor or want to see if you can finally get the NPC to carry on an intelligent conversation, MAX SYS, check your credit balance, make a business decision.

3) If you aren't comfortable what what to do, or are inexperienced, MAX SYS. Use regular interdictions as practice on what works best for you. I find nowadays that if the NPC isn't a persistent NPC, they usually pull me down once maybe twice but otherwise arrive at the station just fine. Although I am not a huge fan of Engineers myself, personally, I determined it wasn't going away due to my disapproval so I upgraded my ships on the PC and the XB1 with dirty drives. Nothing catches me now. I would only have to suffer the persistent NPC, which I would still handle the same way as I described above (the leap frogging). I rather enjoy pulling these into a station now and before Engineers. Take a crappy situation and make it fun and challenging.

4) 4 Pips to ENG - 2 to SYS. Boost Boost Jump Boost. The first boost is right at the moment you drop. I've been doing that for a year and a half and never never never never ever lost a ship to a NPC doing that. And I rarely jump out of a system because I hate to re-conquer ground I've already covered. Getting interdicted by humans is a different animal, a persistent NPC is also its own drama. But, I am also very experienced so maybe I'm just better at it, who knows.

Final thing is about focus. Some folks like the interdictions and take it as a pewpew opportunity. Some folks can't deal with them and are annoyed by them. Some folks couldn't care less about them (like me), maybe slightly annoyed that my progress was interrupted. It you aren't going to fight the interdictor, then don't look at your left panel to see who it was or what they are flying, who cares. The only mental note I take is the NPC name in the messages. What they fly or their rank, couldn't care less. Stay focused on your situation and get out of there. As soon as you get curious, 4 pips to SYS and re-read #2 above :)

I think I've had the persistent NPC happen to me just a few times, btw, if you take a lot of missions you've probably had it happen to you a few times too. These are different than your average interdictions.

As always, this is just my opinion, and the way you are doing it is totally awesome for you. All the above information is spurious and no warranty is implied. Supplies are limited.

What are you flying? you do not really say anything, if it is the same npc it sounds like a mission that is too high level for you?, what setup is your asp, is it set up properly to survive? did you try changing it setup to survive better?

Good post. I just wanted to add (because some people might not know this) is that when it comes to the engineer commodities never carry them around in your hold unless you very specifically are going to do something with them in the very near future. When you collect commodities from completing missions always ditch them right away unless you're going directly to an engineer to have a module upgraded.

In the case of Modular Terminals, the requirement for Marcos Quent, always drop them off in batches at his base, don't collect large quantities of them and carry them around with you unless you're supremely confident in your piloting skills:)

Even though Qwents base is annoyingly far from the star, still take your 4 MTs over and hand them in.
Of course, you'll probably get interdicted on the way. Lol

Do the usual 4 pips to SYS, 2, to ENG, submit, boost, low/high wake if needed.
Most NPCs can't keep up with players.

If you're in Open, and see me about in supercruise, say hi, I may be looking to donate spare MTs to passers by.
:)

For some reason missions keep offering them to me now I no longer need them. Lol

I seem to have the Midas Touch when it comes to finding materials & commodities for the engineers, and I've found (through bitter experience) that it just doesn't pay to haul anything around in your hold that draws pirates and that can easily be obtained at a later date.

Watch and learn, I know this is a T9 but its in open which is multiple times more hazardous than solo, same mechanics apply. Credit to the Cmdr concerned.

Thank you all very much for your advice!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll take everything into consideration.
I don't have today anymore time, but when I'm free I'll write the ship specs,
and try to be more specific with what is happening.

Guys really thank you for your time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see your finally coping with the homicidal manics... Good for you!

Get a Vulture, mod it, kill NPC's, accumulate CR. Rank up with Imps or Feds (optional), get better ships, mod, kill NPC's, accumulate CR. Buy Python (or similar), mod it, kill NPC's, earn CR, then enjoy your hard-won rewards of being able to fight or flight and trade/mine knowing you have a ship that can make it all happen.
