+1 i think we are in for another 6 months of steamVR rendering tweak and heavy computer hardware to play "crystal clear"That Twitter doesn't sound terribly convincing. I'm crossing my fingers that they actually know what we are talking about.
The main problem with this settings is to my own experience the AA setting to SMAA. This is quite expensive and I set it to off and increase other values. But correct sitting seems to be off topic in this thread![]()
AA is off by default, I turned it ON to SMAA which makes a huge difference, and doesn't affect my performance in any noticeable way
My experience is the opposite![]()

ie, there are no 'correct' settings here; different users are getting different results with different and the same settings. Above are my settings, and it looks great. I get a few jagged lines in stations, particularly on metal beams that are in a darker area of the station but reflect a yellow/orange light... and that's the extent of it. It's not even distracting, certainly not game-breaking.
I don't see it in space, in combat on other ships, in my cockpit or if I do it's so quick and minute that it really isn't anything noteworthy
A game with so much different settings and so much diffetent results it´s weird.... isn´t it ?![]()
I think largely due to people responding to VR differently. For example, my tolerance to lower FPS seems higher than most, but I can't stand the shimmering.
We all have different eyes and different appreciation of aesthetics. VR just exacerbates this.
Nor should it. It was nothing. It was the same thing they said 4 months ago. That Twitter doesn't sound terribly convincing.
Any communication we can milk from this is worth the effort. It's like drawing water from rocks when it comes to this issue. That tweet was probably the first acknowledgement of the issues since this thread was first started.Worth a shot anyway, or was it ?![]()
The second via Twitter but yeah much and such the same content
Your desktop resolution is lower than most but I don't think that would give you too much of a boost. My guess is that what you think is good is different to most. You clearly don't mind poor picture quality and/or low FPS due to reprojection.I really wish I could figure out why I'm getting good results with the Vive, when most people apparently aren't. My computer isn't nearly as good as Kapow's, and yet I can play EDH on VR-Ultra (just finished a two hour session on Ultra) and I only get minor juddering in stations and planets when I move my head quickly, which easily fixed when I lower graphics quality to VR-High. While I don't have a Rift to compare to (I drained my new TV and new monitor funds to buy the Vive), and I feel on Ultra visual quality is as good as other VR titles like Steam's Lab. More importantly, the "sparkly" effect I've seen on the night-side of inhabited Earth-Like planets is gone on VR-Ultra, which hasn't happened since 2.1's Beta 4.

I agree 100% with you. I recently upgraded to OC'd 1080 and not even that fixes the issues with ED in the Vive. If you have ED and are thinking about VR then buy a Rift. If you have a Vive then don't buy ED. It's that simple. The fact that FD "responds" to Twitter and ignores their own forum makes it rather clear that outwards picture to new customers is top priority instead of keeping existing customers happy. This forum is officially pointless (considering that thread started by FD gets 0 updates in many months ) and obviously we should all just blast their twitter, facebook or reddit with our questions as all info regarding HTC Vive seems to come from there first anyways....
To the above comments: I have 980ti and i7 processor with 6 cores (12threads), SSD and 64GB ram and I still don't class the experience as reasonable, so I would say that Vive and ED should have specs at 1080 for reasonable experience for those who are considering Vive with ED. Just to avoid disappointment. 980ti gives barely playable version with graphics which look like a minecraft on steroids, but I do know that some are happy with that, so I do not wish to start another debate on standards, but just forewarn potential Vive customers who want it primarily for ED not to go ahead with ED unless they have at least 1080 or ideally Titan X (pascal)
