Thrustmaster t1600m controller
Hello, I'm new to the forums and would like to post in the thrustmaster t16000m official thread.
I'm told that I have to post in here first though.....
New meat . . . er . . . pilot? Great! First, forget all the stuff about "It's too hard". It isn't. A couple of bits of advice:
Upgrade to the highest "A" grade Frame Shift Drive (FSD) module FIRST! Then you get some flexibility, depending on what you want to do in the game but in the beginning increasing FSD jump range is KEY! Especially for the Sidewinder and its short legs.
If trading, remove all the guns (yes!) since you will always,
always, ALWAYS run away from a fight (if trading/hauling). You don't fight when you are trading, save that for the HAZRES and your new A-rated combat-Vulture.
Per the above advice about removing weapons, fit a decent shield generator, then fit as many of the largest cargo holds you can. Keep in mind the ones that came with your ship are probably half the maximum capacity cargo hold able to fit that slot. Change them out for the bigger cargo holds.
Next ship upgrades (arguments) will probably be Power Distributor (faster boost recharge and shields/weapons recharge) and thrusters (to go faster). If you are doing it right, guns are about the LAST things you need.
DO NOT BUY ANOTHER SHIP until you need to and not until you can afford to purchase the basic ship, outfit it completely (!) and keep at least 1 insurance rebuy (preferably 2) worth of credits in reserve.
DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR SHIP just because you have some credits. Wait until you actually NEED that upgrade, to improve cargo capacity, FSD range, etc. In the beginning it is difficult enough to earn credit without spending it piecemeal as you go.
I am looking at the t1600m online and the first thing I notice, when compared to my X-56 is that you have no mini joysticks. I was using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and decided to get the X-56 specifically for the mini-joysticks. They allow for great control of maneuvering thrust. Any HOTAS setup is going to feel great compared to flying with mouse and keyboard.
