I know how easily people overstate the obvious sometimes- Or are overzealous in the praise of other's work.
But that fisrt post- organized as it is...

Guys, your effort is nothing short of miraculous.
I love it, and it's a heart-thumping excitement that I write- Thank you.
This is one of those thigns that are just essential to the life of a game.

Thank you, thank you - a million times thank you.

Used the same GUI matrix for some time now - changed before 2.1 and don't want to lose the contacts looking remotely like they should.

But should I need a change some point, my only criterion as a combat pilot is that I still have to be able to differentiate between radar colours. A lot of the "busier" matrices, or the simpler ones, have a knack for bringing radar contacts towards the same colour.

So I guess thanks for uploading the images with the radar visible and different contacts on them. Makes it easier to find the ones more suited to exploring and those suited for combat.

Hopefully in the future this becomes a proper "thing" and we can change the in-game HUD but without influencing the radar contacts or mission board images etc.

Wow, seems I've missed quite a few posts on this thread recently! Sorry guys! New job has cut my time over the last couple of months. I'll get this up to speed again before 2.2 goes live though! Thank you for all the recent contributions! I'll address each one individually when I do the update.

I'd also like to mention that I've noticed in 2.2 there's another set of NPC Crew pics with a sepia tone to them in the Role panel - I'm not sure how compatible the existing configs are with these, or if we should even consider them at all. I'd love to know everyone's thoughts about this! They're very nice.

Edit: yes, that's his actual skill. He's really that good :D

This made my day. Cheers CMDR! [up] as I've said before, this wouldn't be possible without everyone's input!

Terry - your work is phenomenal. It's really so powerful as a game enhancing resource. If I want a new look I just pop in, cut and paste and am good to go. I don't know if it's even possible being new to the forums, but it would be nice if there were buttons on the entry page for resources like yours. I'm sure that there are tons of folks that hit this thread to use it rather than post on it. Thank you very very much for your efforts here.

Since my eyes are sensitive to hard bright colours i made a softer -made for low interface brightness- Hud while still being able to see properly. The Portraits are not too oversaturated and not too dark.

Thank You! o7

Is there any way to know exactly which matrix loss or gain causes banding clipping or loss of detail in the portraits?

Generally I've found that keeping values on the diagonal at 100 and adjusting all other values will result in good portraits.
ex:
100 -- xxx -- xxx
xxx -- 100 -- xxx
xxx -- xxx -- 100
or
xxx -- xxx -- 100
xxx -- 100 -- xxx
100 -- xxx -- xxx

Hi, I have been playing around with the GREEN HUD a lot to see if I can get the Avatars the right colour, for VR headsets the green works well, this is the closest I have got.
I would love for some feedback on this one.
0.5, 0, -0.5
-0.95, 1, -0.75
0.17, 0.31, 1
GUI Brightness lowered to about 4 pips
The only thing I'm not happy with is the the left and right UI panels show up sort of orange, they are OK but not green, the mission giving page is green though!
Thanks

I can't believe I've never seen this thread until now. I've been using a green hud since my DK2 and it works great with VR and monitors. No name for it, but friendlies and enemies have unique colors, the ship screens and text are green, and the station menus retain a very stock orange which just over exposes some of the portraits.

Here is one of my new favorites. It's styled after the cockpit of the RX-0 from Gundam Unicorn

probably have to look it up on elite codex.

vr at mo so a 80s monitor green with purple highlights is very nice with white txt in menus.

I cant find any link to Elite hud manager source code that works...

Look Ma it's 1980

Yeah, I know it's a bad way of doing things, but I'm at work and wanted to try this out properly when I get home. The theory seems sound according to the arkku HUD editor and I believe the diagonal run is what keeps the contact pictures in a decent viewing scheme.

I love a lot of the designs that you chaps have brought, but I wanted something a little more harsh and a lot more contrasting, no subtle hues, just very different colours. It takes it's name "Look Ma, it's 1980" from the dayglo green (remember those socks... eh? EH!?).

As previously stated; I do need to test this in-game and get screenshots, but wanted it stored in a place where I would remember. Also wanted to get updates on this thread so two birds and all that! :)
