Patch Notes Update Elite Dangerous: The Guardians 2.2 update

More on graphical changes and starports:

There were always some issues with scaling and forced perspective when in starports or sitting in hangars at starports (or at least a lot of starports). That always created some cognitive dissonance in the old vision cognition department.

That seems to have been fixed in the changes... that rocks.

I feel like I should have known better, but I also haven't yet shaken off the feeling that I spent hours collecting the missions and crawling back to the bubble. Now I need to decide which way to go. I think I might havea break and launch some Kerbals at the moon.

For those in the UK seeing slow download speeds, I'm wondering whether it's a problem with Virgin Media. People with Sky or BT seem to be saying it's working ok for them. I have VM's 200Mbit service; as others have mentioned, I get between 0.14 and 1.89MB/sec atm.

Re people commenting on a version watermark on the screen lower-left, I really hope a patch to get rid of that is released asap, not just rolled into some future update. It ought to be dealt with separately much sooner, sounds very distracting.

Oh, new low of 0.01MB/sec. :} Can anybody beat 20 days to download? Hehe.

Ian.

This might be the case - Im with Virgin and whilst download speeds for everything else looked good, not for this patch..............Does Mr Branson not like Elite? :)

Great update. Finally one of my most wanted features from day 1 is implemented: The plotted course is now saved on the galaxy map when you exit the game. Very well...

In Scotland until Saturday and looking forward to getting home and back into the cockpit

Thanks for the update, FD it's a monster of a patch note!

:D

I'm not sure why everyone is praising this patch so much, after looking through the patch notes it seems that very little has changed or been added. I mean come on, there are only about 700 items in the list after all. You guys couldn't make it a nice rounded 1,000 huh??

HA!

Congratulations to the entire team, extremely well done. You guys continue to impress me, especially your communication and engagement with the community. At a time when others go dark for months (ahem) you guys are just about as transparent as a dev team can be. The patch notes demonstrate this to a huge degree.

As a relatively new player, about 6 weeks and 250 hours, it's impressive even to me at how quickly you guys turn out updates and fixes. I'm already excited about 2.3 and 2.4 - and assume that 3.0 will blow our minds.

Jesus !! now thats what I call a patch ! broke my scrollwheel just getting through all those fixes and additions, nice work guys, Triple A gaming is dead to me!

Had a first-world download problem.

Got home to find that my neighbor's plumbing had failed, and they had to download half *my* bathroom wall to get to it.

They didn't clean the job site, either. That took an hour.

Now, no shower, and dodgy W.C.

I think the guy who came up with Power Play was working this job. It will all be fixed Soon (tm). :(

About to try to download Elite. 2309Z, so most of the Brits should have got thier updates, and/or gone to bed. 100 GB cable connection, here.

Looks like the fighter bays can be purched at High-Tech facilities.

Just loaded my Type-9 with a 7D fighter bay (2.3 mil cr). 2 fighters (~16K cr each), 2 pilots (initial cost is cheap but percentage fee on profits could add up) in exchage for 128t cargo rack. Is it really worth having fighters for defense?
Minimum is a 5D fighter bay with 1 fighter.

I wonder how effective their combat is? About to try.

Holy mother of God! That's a lot of new content, but those patch notes?! Jesus! :D Thanks FD! I can't wait to get of work and see the improvements in action!

Some very nice additions to the update, loving it. Well done all the team at Frontier, very nice indeed. Keep up the good work! :)

I can't plot a route in the galaxy map. It keeps failing. If I go through my bookmarks, plot route is redded' out. Any ideas?

I wish FD would stop their trial and error approach regarding power requirements for hardpoints/utility points/ core and optional internals after each patch. Every time a new patch comes out, I am stuck with a configuration that worked before the patch, but exceeds power requirements after the patch leaving me with a toothless and shieldless ship. Its very aggravating. I know... I know ... balance... balance...balance bla bla bla. The fact is that I could manage with an un-engineered ship before, it feels now if I am forced to visit an engineer to have a Cobra running with 2 turreted beam lasers (the weakest) and 2 small seeker launchers. Ridiculous.

Really getting tired of this !
