It's not about reading, it's about me thinking that I actually started somewhere else than lhs 3447
All Horizons owners now all respawn at that particular station. I've been blown up enough times (especially during the 2.1 super AI) that I've been keeping track. This leads me to believe that all new players these days with Horizons start at that station. (And I checked. My Freewinder came with an SRV.)
I don't use the latest and greatest mainstream credit farming techniques so that Anaconda was 8 months in the making of building up ships, trading in, and building up again. I was proud of that. I scraped and played the game rather then take the easy money. And even now I still would refuse to run Southis and Ceol just to get another one.
I fought, scraped, and leaned.
I plotted and planned. I'm not upset about losing the Conda because I had contingency plans in place. No it didn't get me millions of credits over night but it did let me build a second ship I could afford to lose. I needed to get to that second ship but a stock sidewinder wasn't able to make the trip. I was temporarily down but not completely back to square one.
Once more. I lost the Conda because I was doing a Passangers mission. I had just reached the final beacon and was in the middle of trying to open the Galaxy map. It's been sluggish about opening since 2.1. While I was waiting for it to open. An Expert Rated NPC Anaconda Pirate dropped in and demanded cargo. I was carrying some for another mission I had at the same time.
Unfortunately the game for me was locked up still waiting for the Galaxy map to open meaning I could nether drop the cargo, run, or defend myself as the game was nonresponsive. The NPC was already opening fire and buring through my stock shields before the map finally opened.
When I could finally close it I was 50% and falling rapidly. I tried to run but stock engines weren't made to outrun Expert NPCs. I made a valiant effort but accepted the inevitable loss.
If I could have responded instantly. I could have been spoolling up and gone by the time he started tagging me.
But a loss is a loss and I had a Vulture on standby.
Except the Freewinder couldn't for some reason jump to where the Vulture was. Route planner kept returning "No Solution". Figured it was another case of stock part couldn't make a jump and went to upgrade the FSD.
Yet I couldn't.
New feature. Station will red out services and straight up tell you Unknown Artifact Interference meaning the station is clearly UA bombed. No reason to be out here with Unknown Artifacts since this is where players start and respawn in now.
Unless griefing new players by making stations unusable was the intent. And we all know there are people who really do want to see Elite burn. *Cold Stare toward topic*
Enough with the Anaconda. I only talked about that because it's only relevance is how I ended up back there to know and bring this up. Otherwise I don't care. I'll get another one and I still will be getting it MY way.
You should be more concerned that people are trying to ruin people's first experience of the game. That might possibly be a valid "Game is Dying!" Claim. At least we as a player base can fix it so people can refuel and reload. Two things that can ruin a new player's day.
I can fix losing a Conda. I can't fix a first impression.
