Going on the recommendation to look into Sol's recently added bodies I was close so decided to have a look around. There is now an unregistered comm's beacon orbiting Europa just sitting there.. spinning making a weird electronic sound but no real morse that I could discern. Ship's computer knows it's there but gives me a blank target under the contact list..

Paranoia is setting in but I see a missile... and targeting reticules... I'm seriously standing on my jump to conclusion mat courtesy of lab 69 but this looks weapons... In fact the whole site looks like a missile base of some sort.



(also it reminds me of one of the early concepts of how an imperial planetary base was supposed to look like all rounded with spokes etc... maybe and abandoned INRA missile base..?)
 
Glyph versus Ruins

Is it possible that the ruins are tidally locked to the brown dwarf? If so, the glyph makes even more resemblance to the ruins.

Also for those writing the Galnet articles, my in game name is CMDR Basch Fon Ronsenburg.

I'm guessing FD will do an official Galnet on this discovery.
If not, I would not mind writing one.

I'm not the most gifted writer, but the one I wrote for Wace's discovery of Col 70 in the UP data got accepted. :)
 
You'll need 16 "things" by my reckoning... if you want to place something on each one of those "EmptyPads" at the same time.

How many "things" are available at each fresh spawn?
Not if you unlock it in stages. and its the combination of the 4 that opens all.
I know clutching at straws but apart from this all i have is why are there two of the long wall stone bits there.
all the others are part of the wall of groups of stones but 2 in the bottom left quarter dont go with any thing.

UP and UA dropped at various ruin sites, have some friendly mobius guys honking away like there's no tomorrow, so far there was no reaction whatsoever. Cant think of anything to test anymore (recording everything) anybody have a "must defo test this" idea??

To me it almost looks like Stonehenge or something. I wonder if we are not supposed to use it to triangulate a star in the sky of the moon itself.

That or the bigger spheres represent the stars in that system and thus map points a specific direction from the main star.

My point is if it is a map the reference point is either the site itself or that system, otherwise a map like that with no legend would be useless.

All the structures appear to be on the surface, but the ancient relic rises up out of the ground- so might there be an entrance to some subterranean parts of this?

Have you tried activating all the antennas beacon or whatever can be activated at the same time?
 
Observations of note:

1. Dark tallish structures on the sides of the "walls" have figures (humanoid, alien) etched or carved into the little alcove at the base.

2. There are what I presume to be "power units" or something in each grouping of metallic obelisk rows and columns (field?). These units will lightup when approached and on one side you can see three vertical symbols or something being displayed (changing). They are made up of small triangles.

3. Some of the relics look like they might fit into the little alcoves mentioned in #1, and a few other places.

4. The star in the system is always overhead.

5. The pattern of the site from above, IMO, resembles a star and planet. Perhaps it is a map of some sort. Or a clue to another location.

has anybody tried to put the alien artefacts into these alcoves to see if any behaviour is triggered?

I thought that and was looking specifically at a ground level "cover" that is also partially covered with sand.

At the ruin site there are rocks which you shoot exposing a symbol which glows when an SRV is near. When SRV drives away the symbol vanishes.

That's a spawn location for scoopable stuff (see video page 73)

Or stealth removal of the breadcrumb trail that was supposed to lead us to this site in the first place ;)

That's all well and good (actually it's great and awesome !) But by "stumbling" (sorry I'm not doing you justice xDeath) upon the site we have no clue HOW to find more of them if they exist.

Fer God's sake Frontier this is NOT how it should work.

As you can see by Mr Braben's post he (they) weren't expecting people to be able to do that.
I'm surprised that they are surprised since nearly every trailer containing a location was triangulated like this except those were either temporary set pieces for the sake of the trailer or rand POI spawns.

Didn't see it on front page: has anyone tried to EMP the site with an Unknown Probe ?

You just gave me an idea. I'm going to ECM the site :D

Any chance of a couple of closeups of the totem? I'd like to see this "alien figure"

It's probably already been suggested but has anyone tried scanning the beacon with a ADS or DSS? I would try myself but I can't get on my PC. Keep an ear out for any weird sounds, or any special events around the site that are activated by scanning.
 
If the obelisks activate when an srv comes into range,

have we had multiple CMDRS wait next to each obelisk until all are active?

Or perhaps activate all obelisks at the same time?

Tried with active/inactive obelisks, tried with pillars activated (to be honest i'm doing this with random people so i couldnt be too sure it was all 'working' as they stated), tried dropping artefacs and all the other goodies as well..basically everything thrown in for good measure.. and just lost the UP to ED being ED.. so i think i'm done for today. but i'm getting the feeling there might not be much more here than engineering mats.
