For what it's worth, I reconstructed the shape on the obelisks

The changes in lighting patterns seems difficult to get data from, but i am still working on it. But, it is also important to consider using this as a symbol. It may mean something.

Please excuse me if this has been posted before.
Under the relic towers, if you use the external cam, you see these things spinning...

Hi,

i have investigated the site yesterday , collected relics and scanned data together with a friend. I found nothing new.

Later last night i decided to take a look at the ruins again. Same procedure. I got tired. I wanted to take a few snapshots from above then and started my ASP Explorer.

Then i saw that i have missed to collect one of the "crystals" from one of the obelisks (they are respawning on every login). I was frustrated that i was unable to make any progress on this discovery.

BUT:

I decided to shoot the obelisk with a laser weapon.

The crystal on top of each obelisk is surrounded by 3 pieces. If you shoot at them with your SRV the fall down - and with them the crystal.

But when i shoot with LASER from my ship just the 3 pieces were gone - the crystal stays in place on top of the obelisk.

I really was tired and went to bed.

But maybe someone else could try this?

1. Rise all obelisks by approaching them with a SRV.

2. Shoot all obelisks at the top with a LASER from your ship. Maybe you have to be gentle to not hit the crystal.

I think the crystal is something of an "active part" if the obelisks because it seems to glow. Maybe if all are exposed this way this activates something? Could someone please try this?

Ciao, Udo

So i went ahead and tried something else, with the Present 4 triangles shapes, i drew straight lines from them and marked the spots where their lines interesected.
The Circles on the bottom, are do to the fact that those structures seem to be places in a circular array. lines would fit perfectly.

The result, seems to be some sort of Star pattern. Ignore the size fo the circles.(im to lazy right now to make them fit the same size..... :p)

Continuing the theme of this discovery being by the players without NPC assistance.
To those that are interested.
We need to search for more sites!!! Nothing helps more than having more than one sample to note the similarities and the differences.
Searching for more sites on the planet is good. Searching the other planets in the system are good ideas. Also checking the planets in the nearby systems would be good.

It has been suggested that we search Sol, specifically the new planets there. And finally Soontill, something about these ruins makes me think Soontill(but I've always thought that). That is where I am right now.

I've tested the main ruins, and it can be clearly heard and seen up to 7.5km out. If you have a good eye you could spot it from orbital cruise.

Based on these shots that I took I would say that most folks could actually be looking for ruins between 10km and 20km and won't have any problem spotting them. Assuming of course the other ruins are of similar size.

If anyone feels like looking at more terrestrial mysteries, there's an unregistered comms beacon near Jupiter in Sol which starts talking in numbers every hour close to the hour (think it started at :59 for me):

12 9 19 20 5 14 12 15 3 1
20 9 15 14 5 18 1 22 1 20
5 20 9 13 5 10 12 9 19 20
5 14 12 15 3 1 20 9 15 14
12 1 22 5 20 9 13 5 30 3
12 21 5 4 Charlie

My translation of that is (A=1, B=2 etc with the occasional special):

Listen Location Eravate Time 10
Listen Location Lave time 30
Clue 4C

There's also satellites in Eravate and Lave, though they message at :30 and :10 instead of 10 and 30 like the message.

They put out number sequences which I can't translate:

Eravate:
X-ray
0611111111111111116111111
11101115111111111111111111
15111111511111111111111111
15101511111111111111115103
11111111113015111111111111
11111111510511111111111111
115013111111111310

Lave:
Yankee
0611155555111111111311113
11111111111111111119991191
17111111111111111111111111
11311113665555501111101111
01111011111111111111111111
11111

Some pauses between the numbers seem longer than others, but it's hard (for me) to exactly match it.

There's two more satellites in Achenar and Gateway, but they play the same message as the one in Sol (starting at :40 and :18 respectively), so it's really 3 starting points for the same puzzle.

I'm stumped. Anyone got any bright ideas?

The messages repeat a few times for the Sol/Achenar/Gateway one and twice for the Eravate/Lave ones.

You have to be within 1000ly to see the satellites in the list. This puzzle was around in Beta in various forms (this is the form it took in late beta and to my knowledge no-one cracked it).

I'm going to go on record and say that I agree that the trailer was not an ideal way of starting this mystery. If it wasn't me the did it, someone else would've eventually. I would give it a day tops. I'm curious to know what Frontier had originally planned.
If it ended up as some new discovery by Professor of Author-insert-controlling-the-narrative Palin. Where he gives the co-ordinates and system out after a CG to collect Soontill relics. Then I think we would be overall more disappointed than we are now. I would prefer subverting Frontiers intentions by dissecting a trailer to that any day. The "NPC" assistance is the most worst method for solving mysteries, just boils things down to CGs and Galnet articles.
Frontier needs to create puzzles and mysteries that are solved by the players. Triangulating positions based on star maps, analyzing audio, subjecting things to certain tests(UP scanning). I should point out that they are a company and can actually hire someone to do that, create puzzles for players to solve.

Well, I can kind of see Fdevs dilemma here:

"Have they figured out the Formadine rift yet?"
"No"
"But there are hundreds looking!"
"Sorry, Lord B."
"Blimey, it's been months.... OK, make the next one a bit easier"
"Done. Solved in 12 hours by one guy, from 2 frames in the trailer"
"Oh, < whoopsie > "

Where is our balance level?

more than three interrelated tasks

Not only is the star map spot on, but my first discovery status mysteriously disappeared when 2.2 dropped. None of the other systems around it (and there were many), had this issue. It wasn't until I filed a ticket with support that it got fixed...which tells me something probably got changed in the system causing the data to get wiped.

Take a read - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ies-Thread-9-The-Canonn?p=4694652#post4694652

What you're describing is in line with what I found at another system.

Hey guys and gals, just a thought... Are we so sure that we should be looking in a different system for more of these sites? Or even a different planet? Hear me out...

This site is evidence of an ancient civilisation on this particular planet. It's very likely that whoever built this structure, or town or city, had a sizeable population and therefore it's unlikely that this is the only place they built anything on. There are probably more alien cities on this planet itself. Now THAT would be interesting - evidence that the builders all just didn't live in one place!

What do you think? It's possible FD have only placed one of these things on each planet they're meant to be on, but maybe if they're going for realism... How many archaeological sites are scattered around on earth?

As for me I left 1B and go to 1Ba. Since 1Ba tidally locked possibly ruins point something on it.

Yeah, crossed my mind too - just point straight on at the potato moon from the ruins and fly in a straight line to see if anything is there.

I'm at the site now, and have a patch of blue glowing ground, has anyone else found anymore of these, and if so, any idea what it does - if anything
