I guess a little gloating is allowed. We should name them "The Ruins of Death" in your honour :D

The closest thing here on earth I think of when looking at the airial photo's of the site are airial photo's of Masada in Israel. That place is old, abandoned and in the middle of nowhere too. It's also spooky, and makes you feel bemused after visiting it.

AAAAAAAARGH!
Thanks Ian!
Oh, well, more work for me...

Well, a minute of science (erh, silence) for our real hero here please !
Rizal you're the real map here, maintaining the front page <3
out of rep so have a (big) virtual one.

Now back to catching up.
(also congrats guys, you're all awesome, didn't wrote yet because not wanting to add noise to the thread).

Hi Nick,

could you please try what i described a few posts before?

1. Rise the 4 Obelisks with your SRV
2. Expose the crystals on top by shooting the surrounding plates with a small laser from your SHIP (careful) so that the crystals remain on top of the obelisks (do not use cannons or srv as the crystals drop).
3. See if something happens (maybe the glowing structures are all on than? Or something else happens somewhere on the site?).

Thanks.

Ciao, Udo

Went to the ruins, thought they suddenly made sounds at ships landing on the grounds, turns out it was someone trying their discovery scanner...

Just wanted to break my silence. I've been following this thread before the finding of the xenohenge (and feeling more like a stalker). I really would have wanted to be on the search for it. Too bad I had to go to sleep. :D The most exciting time in game I can recall, ever (been playing from the 80's and have a soft spot for hard scifi stuff). And props for FD for making it such a splendid looking site! Can't wait to see it myself... Next week I'll have more time for ED. I think I'll take a quick look at the site and then head searching for more of those (if there are any).

I'm at the site now, and have a patch of blue glowing ground, has anyone else found anymore of these, and if so, any idea what it does - if anything

These are underneath the 'cairn' debris usually. Have a look on one of the maps in this thread whether you are at a cairn site and it is missing its rubble.

There is another spot with ground cracks and something protruding out of it--

If anyone feels like looking at more terrestrial mysteries, there's an unregistered comms beacon near Jupiter in Sol which starts talking in numbers every hour close to the hour (think it started at :59 for me):

12 9 19 20 5 14 12 15 3 1
20 9 15 14 5 18 1 22 1 20
5 20 9 13 5 10 12 9 19 20
5 14 12 15 3 1 20 9 15 14
12 1 22 5 20 9 13 5 30 3
12 21 5 4 Charlie

My translation of that is (A=1, B=2 etc with the occasional special):

Listen Location Eravate Time 10
Listen Location Lave time 30
Clue 4C

There's also satellites in Eravate and Lave, though they message at :30 and :10 instead of 10 and 30 like the message.

They put out number sequences which I can't translate:

Eravate:
X-ray
0611111111111111116111111
11101115111111111111111111
15111111511111111111111111
15101511111111111111115103
11111111113015111111111111
11111111510511111111111111
115013111111111310

Lave:
Yankee
0611155555111111111311113
11111111111111111119991191
17111111111111111111111111
11311113665555501111101111
01111011111111111111111111
11111

Some pauses between the numbers seem longer than others, but it's hard (for me) to exactly match it.

There's two more satellites in Achenar and Gateway, but they play the same message as the one in Sol (starting at :40 and :18 respectively), so it's really 3 starting points for the same puzzle.

I'm stumped. Anyone got any bright ideas?

The messages repeat a few times for the Sol/Achenar/Gateway one and twice for the Eravate/Lave ones.

You have to be within 1000ly to see the satellites in the list. This puzzle was around in Beta in various forms (this is the form it took in late beta and to my knowledge no-one cracked it).

This is quite interesting. I wonder if it's Rift related?

X-Ray and Yankee makes it look like coordinates. Where is the Zulu one?

Hmmm. Worthy of attention, even with all the shenanigans...

Edit: The Everate and Lave signals remind me of image files. It might be worth playing with bases and XxY grids.

Interesting, another topic worthy of study I would say. I will have to take a look when I return to the Bubble.

Given there's 3 starting points that all lead to the same 2 messages (X and Y), I don't think there's anything more elsewhere. Could be wrong, but it feels like this is all there is. The 4C (or DC if you translate the 4) clue in the message probably gives a pointer on how to translate the X and Y messages but I'm clueless on how to proceed.

Hey guys and gals, just a thought... Are we so sure that we should be looking in a different system for more of these sites? Or even a different planet? Hear me out...

This site is evidence of an ancient civilisation on this particular planet. It's very likely that whoever built this structure, or town or city, had a sizeable population and therefore it's unlikely that this is the only place they built anything on. There are probably more alien cities on this planet itself. Now THAT would be interesting - evidence that the builders all just didn't live in one place!

What do you think? It's possible FD have only placed one of these things on each planet they're meant to be on, but maybe if they're going for realism... How many archaeological sites are scattered around on earth?

Well it is going to depend on what the site actually is, but yes other folks are looking on the same planet and in the same system, me included. However I suspect we do lack a bit of coordination in our efforts. Does anyone else think that another spreadsheet for Xenohenge searches may be required? Possibly another tab on the spreadsheet linked in Chat_Science on the Discord?

Hadn't considered that idea, though it'd be nice if the X and Y messages were the same length.

4696721[/URL]]Going on the idea that the ruin lay out is a star map.
I've overlaid the image of the site on top of the Magellanic clouds as seen from the system.
I've upped the brightness and contrast to make the stars more visible.

And again over Barnards Loop and Witch Head.

I don't really see anything there, but thought I would try anyway.

On another note, I made gaming news!!! But really it's Davids Tweet that really got me.

SENPAAAAAIIIII

Edit: The monoliths/pillars do not match up to stars in either of these shots
They don't match now, but would they match based on the star position say, 1000 years ago? Or with a different angle?

So long as it is a spaceship - not the Great Old One you let out by mistakenly moving the stuff keeping their prison shut. :D

Well given MB's love of Lovecraft we shouldn't discount the possibility :D. For all we know the ruins are the alien equivalent of Keep the Hell away from here if you know what is good for you.
