The reality of the situation... 2.2

Because they use those ships against you. If they didn't, then I wouldn't care. But they do, so I do care.

Take care. Prepare to run.

Problem is not the ability to invest huge sums in large ships, it's choice of weapons of the pursuer and choice of tactic of the potential prey.

You're on a budget? Get a Cobra. High wake out.

You got a fighter like an FdL? Select your opponents carefully. Opt out if needed.

It's NOT about money, this is ridiculous. It's about envy.

Your ASP can get away from almost everything. Get 2 ECM, submit in interdictions, high wake out. This will prevent you from being killed even by Cutters and the like.

Question: accepting the premise that none of this will ever impact me in any way ...

Am I still allowed to have an opinion on the matter?
Am I allowed to voice that opinion on a discussion forum?

If not, why not? I have an opinion on many things that will never have any impact on me. And so do you.

I feel: it doesn't bother you, is a rather weak argument in favour of a certain feature. Who the feature impacts is not related to the quality of a feature.

I would say, if you like a feature, argue it's merits and benefits.

Although I've noticed Mission pay being cut down across the Board everywhere, I also stumbled over stuff like this :

ELITE-PAX_MSN_Payment.jpg

(if there's no bugs interfering with finishing such a Mission, I'd say that's a pretty darn nice income - arguably though, all hell could break loose when trying to get this guy to the destiination? Could just be a darn difficult MSN)

I was amazingly excited for 2.2. I was severely let down. I've also been equally, if not more angry at the community post 2.2.

Both Frontier AND the community, should be ashamed.

Sothis/Ceos, and what used to be Robigo, were indeed paying too much. I also realize there is an unlisted 'bug' regarding payment in missions.

The problem is that somehow Frontier doesn't want to actually reward game play. I figured out awhile ago that the ships weren't the goal in the game. They are A goal, but they're not THE goal. In the end it is about having fun. The problem is that there were a few, or a lot, of us that enjoyed the long distance (not just Sothis) runs. I also enjoyed the Robigo runs. Now its quite difficult to find missions that are worth the time. Frontier, you need to stop removing game play options from the game. It's not like we have a ton to start with. Also just because you enjoy doing X thing in game, doesn't mean it shouldn't be rewarding.

Onto the community... stop worrying what someone else is doing. You people are just as quick to say "hey... these ship transfer prices are fine, if you don't like it don't do it." Then in another thread post about "unfair" it is that people are making more credits from doing one thing than another. Stop being so hypocritical. Also stop rubbing things in people faces. Though I am going to enjoy rubbing this in, in general it should stop. This whole "well I guess you should just learn to do something else." attitude isn't helping the situation either. Its not just a game, its a sandbox game. You've got just as much right to run your Anaconda between stations trading commodities as someone who's bounty hunting as someone who's smuggling. If anything... bounty hunting and smuggling should pay better. Its more involved work than buy - undock - dock - sell, rinse and repeat until your eyes bleed. The sad part is that the latter STILL pays better.

Also WHO CARES what ships someone is flying. I could care less if the entirety of the people in game ran around in Cutters. Fact is... the big ships have just as many pitfalls as the small ships. No one type of ship is better.

So STOP with all this "oh get over it" and "go find something else." I for one am tired of chasing things that I like and happen to be rewarded for only to have Frontier stop rewarding that type of game play. This isn't a presidential election... stop worrying what the other person is doing.

Also, sorry I ruffled your feathers Ed, but when you play the game, and you see a few select bugs every.... single... time you play the game. It does get annoying. I realize FD can't fix every bug. There are some that have existed since the original beta. Now you know what it feels like to be annoyed with something you try to hard to enjoy.

Bold: I absolutly agree. I would wish Frontier fixed mission stacking instead because without stacking those missions weren't too over the top when it comes to payment. I really do wish David took what he said in that dev diary seriously and actually made it happen.

No it definetly ain't.

Underlined: You're being just as hypocritical. Now: ''It's unfair people are making more money doing other things!'' Past: ''Deal with it, it's perfectly balanced don't nerf it.'' I would like for all the professions to be balanced, it should take work to buy a ship or outfit it. I want what David said (look in sig) to be the case with the actual game. He isn't wrong it sucks when you like doing one thing but it feels very unrewarding doing it. (You can click on the quote to watch the video).

Because in the end you aren't going to see an Eagle winning a fight vs a Corvette. People getting the big ships in a week or two and then getting 10 rebuys for it basicly removes consequence because the only consequence there is ''Oh I'll go to Sothis for a couple of hours and get enough for another 5-10 rebuys''. This inturn also has increased ganking and the people combat logging in big ships. Before Sothis and Robigo if you saw a big ship you wanted to pirate or blockade a system against you could be pretty sure it would be a good time as you would be pretty certain they've played the game they have some experience with the game they probably have some code. Sure it wasn't 100% (it was 80-70%) but it's better than the 20% we have now of people who won't log.

High value target, doesn't react well on hull damage, demanding, elie rank and luxury cabin (aka orca or beluga).
Sounds like a hell of a ride.

Even if the destination is only 1000 ls away from the jump point.

This is contradictory.

It's about fun.
Players enjoyed the LRSM because they were fun.
Nothing has changed about the mechanics of LRSMs, just the payout.
OP complains it's hard to find missions that are worth the time.
This contradicts the claim it's about fun.

So either you enjoyed the missions, or you enjoyed the payout for those missions. Both are fine of course.

You know, for the almost 1 month-& 7 betas-that I was playing the beta, I didn't once see them reduce the price of transportation missions. That is why I am absolutely convinced that this is a bug. The payouts for branched missions is a dead giveaway too.

You can have both you know. Progression (by making credits for the next FSD upgrade or whatever) is also enjoyable. Doing something and gaining no progress isn't very fun even if the activity itself is. I guess this is also why people who get to the end game ships via Robigo and Sothis then stop playing because in their mind the only progression in Elite is to get a bigger ship. Of course that's not true and it's not in most cases but say with piracy, apart from maybe helping out an anarchy faction via piracy and such there isn't much else to do. You can't rank up with some pirates federation and if there was there isn't much of a reward in the end to justify that progression.

My reality of the situation of 2.2.

Its the same as 2.1 but with more "stuff", some nice tweaks, some balance fixes and a couple of bugs.

The balance fixes are hard to argue, tho some clearly are doing. IF 1 person can look me in the eye (in a virtual way) and say they thought that manure hauling should in any sensible universe pay more than illegal human trafficking, high risk bounty hunting or piracy, assassinating people in hi security systems, or hauling high value cargo........... IF anyone truly believes that it makes sense logically, then i can respect their view that the balance changes are silly. I dont agree with them, but I can respect it.

But really..... does anyone think that?

This is what you are saying should be the most profitable job in the universe

As for the rest of the delivery missions..... bugs to be fixed.

I think they already said that they are investigating.

I love 2.2 but I do agree about the community screwing things up for some of the players out there.
Problem is we have different camps.
The power play PVP'ers AKA "The call of duty in a space ship" guys. They spend all day whining about how pvp is unbalanced in a game where it is quite literally impossible to balance pvp. They want everyone to struggle as much as possible so there is less competition. Half of these guys are so desperate for a fight they will attack any player they see and force many more relaxed players into solo.
Then we have the "immersion above all" players who are completely willing to break the game so that they can feel like their mom's basement really is the bridge of a ship. Sorry but you are still sitting there in a roller chair. Not flying at superluminal speed.
Then we have the mild mannered play for fun type that gets the backlash from both other groups.

Your post is a perfect example of why we need the down vote button back, talk about a biased childish attitude.

It does not matter if you do not like pvp, it is part of the game, as is the developing story; and many people who play are invested in seeing both areas developed further. If you took part in those areas you would know there are long standing problems, as well as new ones that need to be addressed for the overall health of the game, its community, and more importantly longevity and player retention.

This game is not tailored for your personal entertainment, the developers have to consider all spheres and the players who take part, and if you cant deal with that you should probably leave.

Haven't tried any PAX Missions in V2.2 live yet (read too many disturbing reports about Stations insta-killing departing Players), but I as well remember 25M payouts being reserved to destinations like Colonia or SagA during all Betas.
Thus, this one raised my eyebrows as well.

Will have to run at least one of these to make up my mind. If it's a standard risk profile, I'd also say it would have to be a bug.

Doing something fun isn't fun if there's a bit less (not no) progression? And that smaller reward makes the fun activity, in a game, "not worth someone's time?" I find that a hard concept to grasp. But then again, the most activities I enjoy have no payout whatsoever or peanuts. Might be a mentality thing.

Want some french fries with that salt?

Not sure how badly Sothis/Robigo was nerfed so can't say if it's only a bit less progression or a let less progression.

I think it's a bit more of a spectrum thing I guess. I mean back when there weren't that many loggers on Xbox piracy was fun and back then I only demanded 5-10 tons? It's a combination of things I guess. Reward, Progress and the activity itself that determine how much fun you have. If the activity itself is a lot of fun well then you might not need motivation in the form of reward and progress. If the reward is good but the activity itself is boring well then it might still be fun for some people aswell but most people will do it for that reward and then go ahead and call it a grind, especially if progress is slow. I'm no shrink but this is how I think it works, more or less.
