News Elite Dangerous Guardians 2.2 and 1.7 Release Date

This is the first upgrade I have experienced in this game and it was fast and trouble-free. I was quite impressed considering how many people would be downloading it.

For sure. Downloaded in minutes. Ran it for about 3 hrs. One hiccup on the server. So far me like.

Ok, I retract my half recommendation to use steam as workaround for FD's server load issues.
Steam decided not only to update my 2.2 to 2.2, it failed, broke it and fully deleted it only to restart over with downloading it.

Thanks Valve, from now on I'll only use steam for updating when the launcher tells me that I need to download a new version <_<

I only had around 30 mins last night to try out 2.2, so I played some of the new tutorial missions. I must say ED and especially Frontier has come a long way since 1.0. Elite Dangerous feels big budget today compared to 2014. Coming from me, that's a big compliment to Frontier.

I hope the "Elite: Dangerous 2.2" message in the bottom left isn't going to be permanent... I already hate it.

This has happened before and it usually takes a few hours for Frontier to release a tiny patch that fixes the text among other small things.

It is not wayward, nor ranting, to be making a comment about the discrepancy of the heat, question of the lighting, aside. Nor although as aware as one might be able to be, about how PROXIMITY to a low temp sun could still cause indirect heat from transformation / by-product interactions, it ranting, to be of the opinion, that one should not (say such) ... it is simpy , merely, incorrect / unaware of WHY. ranting, is of HOW, one communicates what one does - i should know, i frequently rant. :D

just like one is entitled to be wrong, about who to elect, or similar. one can be wrong, but still entitled to have your opinion / express it.

careful or you'll be up for a spanking about characterisation of 'people who' ... rant.

Nice one guys'n'gals :)

As impressive as your wayward ranting is, why not head over yonder: Latest thoughts on the dark side were covered by Matt D here. You can see a summary here.

New to the forum so bare with. Played ED since Horizons came out and loving. When I heard of the massive update on its way I put the control down for some time to wait. Back in the game now and wanted to see if anyone had some tips on what I could get busy on. I currently own a ASP Explorer that's fully kitted out with around 36M surplus to spare. Any ideas?

Fit it with a 6C first class passenger cabin, and start trucking people. Make sure you are allied with the party you are working for. You'll be visiting amazing places for a heck of a salary.

Thanks mate. I'm currently on my way to Obsidian station in the Maia system, does it have to be a high tech system to purchase cabins? The few that I have visited haven't had any cabins available for purchase...

And thanks for the quick reply...

I saw somewhere (an Obsidian Ant video maybe) that you can pick up passenger cabins at Tourism stations.

I had no idea you could fit passenger cabins in an Asp! Proper shiny. I thought you needed an Orca or Beluga.

I'm out in the California nebula at the moment but I know what I'll be doing when I get back :)

Did the 10% lose for selling ships change?
I'm selling my 100+ sidewinder's and it feels like it a 50% now. Moved one over to see if it the same but 11.3k for stripped sidewinder still feels like 50% lose to me..

Woh! 2.2 update is crazy better in VR now! Insane! [wacky] Everything seems to have much more volume...but hard to explain without seeing it. The hyperspace animation is more fluid and super detailed, pre2.2 you could see the texture edges and it was starting to get pretty boring with all the trade runs. I dropped my jaw when I entered hyperspace in the new update. Stations are insane now, so much activity, texture, and dare I say again - volume. Detail on other ships while in the station is *way* better. Stars are more detailed. Even flying seems different somehow, and better, but I can't put my finger on that one.

Thanks for the update! :)

Love the game, love the update. Wonderful

I would like to put my voice to those that want you to drastically increase the neutron star long jump and turn down the amount of damage done to FSD.

because....

1) Skilled players players get big boost on how quickly they can travel to far locations from bubble
( I'd like you to think of it in time to the core, i.e. reduce travel time there to 10% )

2) Because the game dynamic is fun and it would be good if it were also truly useful, for me it *could* be the single biggest fun feature of this release
( yes love the fighters and GUI too :) )

3) White dwarfs could get the 300% ( currently 50% ) to keep bubble play sensible.

4) Being knowledgeable of surroundings and having a "sense of place" give the boon of faster travel.

5) Creates tactical choke points that players will want to squeeze through, creating more chance of interactions.

thank you for all your great work and please keep it coming.
