Feds forcibly occupy Maia, repeatedly bully Palin, why do people support them in the CG???

Perhaps I missed it, who knows but when has the Empire ever put a blockade on science ? Sure they parked a majestic over the alien ship but I can't remember it being a blockade. And that would be the big difference.

Also if the roles were reversed, I would not participate in the Imperial CG, like I did with the Skimmer factory attack CG, it was senseless and pure provocation with no real impact on anything, so I just didn't take part in it.
And if the Empire was doing a CG to blockade the private research facility of Palin it would be the same story.

Backing a power doesn't mean blindly following it without asking yourself any question. And right now Federals should ask themselves a lot of questions because they can give bad reputation all they want. Lately they're being the biggest tyrants there is, seizing everything by force and threats and eliminating anything they deem against their ideals swiftly...
Empire parks 2 kilometer ship over alien crash site. Not considered a blockade.

I'm not sure if this is you trying to be funny or if you honestly believe. Because if it's the latter...well I don't know what to say.

If that's not considered a blockade by you, then none of the other ships the Federation put near the barnacles or temporarily near Palin's place could be considered a blockade as well.

After all, in both cases CMDR's were allowed to visit they were only not allowed to violate the ships flyspace.

I don't know how to adequately express my disbelief. How can you possibly not consider parking a massive        g ship with a full fleet near something to not be a blockade? This is the hypocritical double standard that I spoke about in my original post.

In purely gameplay standards, there is literally zero difference between what the two of them did. Both had ships near barnacles. In addition the federation had a ship near Palin and the Empire had one near the alien ship. Both only shot at people if they violated air space.

Literally, the only difference was how they tried to justify themselves on Galnet. If you honestly think the Empire wasn't doing the same thing as the Federation...lol

Talking to a few people in game, the answer was always like "blah blah something Imperials!" First off, this is between Ant Hill Mob (first ones in Maia) and Federation, not Empire and Federation. Ant Hill Mob called on the support of Imperial pilots because well its one little faction against the Federation's long range occupying force Pleiades Research Enterprise. Second it's like people are ignoring the fact that the Feds are treating Palin like he's their property. The only reason he went out to the Pleiades in the first place is because the Feds shut down his research base in the bubble and then (probably) led the assault on his base after he started it up again independently.

Why guys? Why are you helping these bullies? I jumped into multiple instances of the low intensity cz today where my sensors were full of red blips (many of them hollow sadly) and like two or three green blips and lots and lots of materials floating around. They have a capital ship already they don't need any more help cmon!

You're asking us why we wanted to take control of one of the single most important systems in the game, away from an anarchist society that allows for murder and chaos to reign in said important system, while the Imperials try to muscle their way into every system possible? Lol idunno.

Why is it bad when the Federation does something, but as soon as the Alliance or Empire does the same thing on a much shorter time scale, there isn't even an inkling of outcry?

It took the Federation how long to send forces to Maia? A half a year? Maybe a year? While the Empire sends forces to the alien crash site in how long again? One week or two?

That one person I just quoted said that having a capital ship with a full fleet near the crashed alien ship is not a blockade. The lack of critical thinking here sometimes blows my mind.

It's one thing to support the Empire, it's another to say a 2km long ship with like a dozen others flying in support directly near a particular object is not a blockade of some sort.

It's absolutely insane, honestly. The mental gymnastics required is mind boggling.

There is a difference, it's the threat that goes along with it, as in the Federation underlines that this is a blockade and that you'd better f-off outta here. The Empire is projecting its presence without outright barring access, like either a protector or a watcher.
Or a blockader. The fact that this is not communicated with the Empire gives it room for interpretation.

But yeah, when you go on site, if you're not reading Galnet you wouldn't see the difference.

However I wish when a blockade was in place it would be a real blockade, with a no fly zone enforced by the fleet.

That would prevent future "mental gymnastic" from happening.

If Frontier has ever said that the losing side of a competitive CG wouldn't get paid ... that is news to me. Link?
I'm trying to figure out a way to go back to that thread; but I've so many posts, and I can't even recall when exactly it was (May 2016?).

So why doesn't that "protection and watching" apply to Federal blockades of a small number of barnacles, that, again, were left undisturbed for months?

That and the Empire fires on people entering that blockaded space the same way the Federation does? Where, exactly, is the difference?

As for barring access, I haven't seen a single capital ship anywhere in Maia for over two days, and granted, I don't have access to Palin either, cause I never explore, but according to a fair number of people in this very forum, he isn't being barred access to at all. Believe a number of people have even mentioned that there isn't even a Farragut at his base either (will have to double check this). While the Imperial "Peace Brigade of Learning" above the alien crash site? Is very real.

Prof Palin is not blockaded, the Ant Hill Mob are not an Imperial Faction, better Law than Anarchy, no need for the Empire to be involved.

Haven't taken part of this conflict because I can't be as-sed to go that far but generally I have no problem swapping sides every other CG I always ask myself these 2 questions

1) Is one of the factions independent? Go with the super-power

2) If its Empire vs Fed? Who is the aggressor and who is the defender? Side with the defender.

With this simple logic I let the Feds/Imps swallow up the independents (after all what is the alliance of independent faction A going to do for me halfway across the bubble?) and when the 2 superpowers do butt heads I help maintain the balance by not allowing one encroach on the territory of the other.

Both are regardless going to expand their territory so be it uninhabited space or taking over independents I have no reason to stop them.

On the other hand border skirmishes that result in territorial gain and seizure can give way to a larger cause and all out war between the 2 powers and that's the last thing we need should a hostile alien civilization ever come to us.

Far as I'm concerned in this situation while I won't participate in this CG, the Feds are taking control of an independent system. While that system is calling for the aid of Imperial pilots, its not sanctioned as Imperial sovereign territory and thus the Imperials are not the defenders so this is simply answered by my first question. Side with the Feds against the independents.

The difference is in announcing your intentions, for the third time !

Announcing your intentions does not make them true, nor does it change the action.

Whether you believe the what the Empire or the Federation or even the Alliance says is up to the individual. And whether those were the true intentions of the faction? Well, only time can tell that.

Because everyone is running his own story and is playing for his personal progress. That´s the price for the freedom the game is allowing.

It's just game mechanics, same as the Imperial Slaves commodity which should really be removed now passengers are in.

It's not that hard to see why as people have pointed out.

Whilst the "Make space great again, gun loving, flag saluting, resource exploiting, jar head goons" will support the Feds regardless, in this case they are fighting a criminal organisation (I won't use the term 'Anarchy' as non of them are Anarchies and FDEV and most of the player base have no idea what it actually means, suffice to say I have not seen a genuine Anarchy in Elite yet. Go read Iain M Banks or Charles Stross if you want to see what a sci-fi Anarchy would look like. Here is a clue: it does not include disorder, crime, chaos or anything out of Mad Max).

Which means even normal nice people will support the Feds in this battle as well as the right wing brainwashed.

Because Feds are space America and space America wants more oil?

You know things are screwed up with indentured servitude is the best option lol

Well at least the Imperials only want to make their poor people work for them.

The Feds are looking to conscript the poor: They want their poor people to die for them.

I agree if the Empire faction was involved there might be a even fight. Imperials do not want to help an Anarchy faction.
