They used to be octagonal in shape and are made of bio organic matter.

That's the fastest way to get banned here I'd suggest you drop that line of thinking.

"Bio organic" - Sounds about right from what I'm looking at here. First impression is a giant, green bug. You can see the scales, bones, the spine, etc. And it's humongous.

Congratulations Denneb, great find!

I only got one answer to this and it was by someone who was also curious, so I'm just going to ask it again ;)

Can I ask a question about the nonogram, which may well be stupid, but is glaringly obvious to me. Why is the vertical (yankee) going horizontal and the horizontal (X-ray) going vertical?

In this instance, Ver and Hor are designations for columns & rows, rather than alternate labels for the X & Y axes.

Just asking because this seems to fast the findings.

You asked and now you know, please don't kill any kittens and just stop right there :D

In this instance, Ver and Hor are designations for columns & rows, rather than alternates for X & Y axes.

So what does the x-ray and yankee in the original message tell you, if not to read them in that way?

Atmospheric crash site, I must admit :)

The x-ray indicates that the values go on the X axis (across), and yankee message contains Y axis (down) - looks fine to me when I compare with diagram

Indeed. That's from established Elite lore. There is quite a lot of information on the subject you can access with some searching (Drew's website has a nice summary) but yes Thargoid physiology is Insectoid in nature, ammonia based and shares quite a lot of similarities with advanced polymers and plastics.

Once humans figured that last part out they were able to engineer a plastic/thargoid tech eating fungus called the Mycoid to effectively break down their equipment and ships. I hear the hyperdrive was particularly susceptible to it.

posted this already last night, but after midnight and it prolly got buried.

Could someone please confirm at least the 3 artifacts?

"Well another lucky observation that led to a test.

Some of the ancient artifacts and all of the relics don't show up on the wavescanner.
Exactly 3 artifacts are not on the scanner: 2 x orbs and 1x cascet all three in the big circle structure.
(borrowed and updated map + screenies of the 3 artifacts)

- confirmation needed (tested 2 instances)
- ideas needed, why only these 3 artifacts and the relics?

The 4 relics can be found via the wave scanner even when buried (that's how I located them when I didn't have a map). They have a distinct sound and signature. They produce a line in the upper bands of the wave scanner.

I think after the gamescon footage we can assume 99% that there is some ship active somewhere or via some events that play out. Why show it otherwise with the 2.2 skybox stuff as well and a whole week nearly dedicated to just 2.2 (talking about gamescon stuff)

I believe you are right.
I asked during beta regarding the cobra/alien vid and Michael kindly responded:

Thank you for clarifying this. Your wording just raised a simple question for me:

Can we encounter them already in the live build? Oo

No this is a 2.2 thing. There is something coming before then though - the hunt on the 28th might be more interesting than you think :)

Michael

So if that hasn't changed, there is a live thing flying around somewhere.

Not sure if you can man, But Im sure I didn't ;)

Findings are a bit fast though, I give you that. But previously were disturbingly slow one could say...

I would say the opposite. Findings were normal and now they're disturbingly fast...

The x-ray indicates that the values go on the X axis (across), and yankee message contains Y axis (down) - looks fine to me when I compare with diagram

But you do not read them that way. I just wondered how the decision was reached as it seems backwards to me.

Thanks for the response, Eagle 5. Here's my next question: Is what's listed in older Elite lore considered canonical for ED? In other words, can we know for certain this is Thargoid?

We know Thargoid ships used to have organic hyperdrive and thrusters (or drives of some kind).
Their hulls have a more industrial look. Probably meta-alloys. :)

maybe they are alien babies and sent out to explore a bit like a generation ship, I'm thinking like the founders in DS9 sent out infants to distant worlds.

Now they call for their mommy
