[CCN] The Christmas Carriers Convoy

Just signed up for a carrier. But I have a question regarding the cargo: What about rare goods? I mean if Beer and Wine is on the list of much needed commodities then I guess Colonia will also be happy with some Lavian Brandy or Indi Bourbon served in a Hutton Mug?

It would be all the better :D Those poor colonial dockers simply have lost their fine taste.

Hi.

Please forgive me for being such a trouble, but I noticed that on the roster you wrote me down as V8UC Alicorn, not V8UC ALICORN.

It should be all uppercase letters.

Not sure how important casing is for the roster, but if it is case-sensitive, I humbly request that my CMDR name be edited so it's all uppercase. You know, so people can add me, if that's important.

Again my apologies. I don't know how important this detail is.

Thank you.

The game doesn't differenciate between upper and lower case, afaik. It's just less screamy on the eye ;)

I'm a words formatting freak, you can say it.

Colonia - humanity's first outer colony, 22,000 light years from our ancestral home - needs you!

Out here, life is hard.

This is the new frontier. Infrastructure is in its infancy and the securities we've all taken for granted back in the Bubble are only just becoming established. There is little luxury out here; only hard industrial endeavour awaits those who venture to Colonia looking for a new start and new life out near the Galactic Core.

The foundations for a strong and thriving community are now in place. The early pioneers who first arrived here got Jaques Station back online. From this endeavor grew the Colonia Citizens Network, bringing individuals, groups, and factions all together in a unique attempt to create a cooperative community and establish a strong colonial identity.

The Colonia Militia now safeguards the growing civilian population by patrolling the region, and offering escort through the mysterious Sagittarii Conflux - the prime shipping lane between the Bubble and Colonia.

The Colonial Marines are ever present, ever watchful, on alert, waiting. Waiting for the first signs of alien or rogue AI incursion into sovereign colonial space.

So what does the colony need now?

It needs people. People like you. People willing to leave the Bubble behind, move out to Colonia and become part of this unique experience. An experience that hasn't occurred since 2150 AD when humanity's first colony away from Sol was established on Tau Ceti 3.

Back then, Tau Ceti was the new frontier, a mere stone's throw from Earth. Here and now, the next boundary is being drawn 22,000 light years into the unknown.

You can be a part of this new chapter in the long galactic timeline - see it first hand, mould its future, and make history.

CCN is inviting pilots to assemble the largest merchant fleet in history. A single convoy of passenger liners, tourism transport ships, freighters and fighter escort. Your goal is to bring the next influx of colonists to Colonia along with much-needed equipment, commodities, military hardware and Lavian Brandy.

This expedition is hoped to rival Distant Worlds in its scale.

The convoy will depart the Bubble the day after the Distant Worlds Fleet Reunion event at Mitterand Hollow, and over the course of four weeks will travel across the Sagittarius Gap, pass through the Lagoon and Omega Nebulae, travel along the Colonia Connection highway--visiting the refuelling and repair outposts along the way--cross the mysterious Sagittarii Conflux, and skirt around the southwestern edges of the Galactic Core before entering Colonia space and arriving en masse at Jaques Station after 30 days of travel.

The Galactic Mapping team will map out a Neutron Highway for those that wish to add some 'spice' to the hyperspace grind during their 22,000 light year trip.

The expedition will be escorted by the Colonia Militia and Colonial Marines for the duration of the expedition, protecting them through the Sagittarii Conflux (a region that has been rumored to contain a dark secret!)

If you are interested in joining this venture and helping shape a new chapter in Elite folklore, fill your cargo and sign up…

Guys, you can't do this. I'm sorry.
:(

I read in a lot f places there never is any emergent gameplay in Elite so... you see- you can't do this.

:p
Coolest thing ever. Love it. [up]

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place and would be happy for a re-direct. I just signed up for the ccconvoy as escort, and was pointed to the militia.

Now I'm seeing terms like "merit point", "civilian vs non civilian" etc. I was wondering if there was a newbie guide to getting started with the militia? Who do I ask for permission on the CCN for the Milita? how do I arrange wings? Etc.... the basic: "here I am, now what do I do?" kinda questions.

I'm an experienced Elite Dangerous player, but new to this aspect of the game. Any help is appreciated.

Hey Jon

Welcome to the Escorts!

The Colonia Militia is the defence fleet for Colonia, run from CCN. It is made up of independent pilots as well as groups who have pledged to cooperate for the good of the Colony.

For independent pilots the Militia is an earned role - so players must complete a task of some kind to earn their place in it. One of those tasks is completing the Christmas Carriers Convoy as an Escort.

Once you reach Colonia, you'll have earned your place in the Militia! (If you want it ;))

If you join the CCN Discord and assign yourself the [CCC] Escort role you'll have access to the Escort channel where the whole thing is being coordinated. It will be much easier to find wingmates and such there.

Hope that helps?

I've signed up my dbx Explorer as an escourt.

Does colonia need more carriers or escourts?
It's not like we are expecting to fight opposing fleets....Thargoid fleets...

To assist my ship choice I ask a couple of questions..

Which would the fleet commander prefer, more carriers or escourts?

Once arrived, which will be more useful, combat or cargo/passenger ship?

I would guess most of the financial opportunities out in colonia would lie in mining, exploration and long range passengers.

My question is Can I be officially part of this despite my current location and cargo? Currently I am about halfway to Jaques station from the bubble, about 11,000 Ly away. I am currently carrying 520 T of Tantalum that was originally meant for the "Repair Jaques Station" community goal, which ended before I got halfway there. I am currently in an Imperial Cutter with a max laden jump range of 16.7 Ly. Can I still join this event be heading to the nearest refueling outpost on the route and continuing with the main expedition group from there when they get to that outpost?

This sounds interesting but I wonder if I would be able to make it out there in a Cobra. Can I buy mining lasers and limpets once I get there?

Signed up.

I was unsure but this weekend I did 17kly in 8 hours proving if I need to (work commitments) I can do this over 2 weekends :) That's not plan A though.
Currently got my 50Ly Rataconda on the list, may change that to a Beluga or even an Orca if I find out that I will have the time (I'll notify if I have a change).

Is it intended to make a game-group for us?
To join it for this convoy....

There won't be any CCN in-game private group, but most pilots will be flying in the FleetComm private group. Info on the OP :)

We have less than one Escort per two Carriers, so a priori we'd need more escorts. But it all comes down to what you like to fly and what you intend to do once you arrive :)

I guess it's okay, but shhh ;)

Of course you will. The pace is less than a kylie a day, and most ships will have 20 to 25ly of jump range. And yes, you can by limpets and lasers in Colonia. Check with EDDB.io to make sure.

Signed up.

Glad to have you with us, Alex :D

I'll be switching from Asp to Clipper for the trip, ranking up right now with the Empire. I'm at knight so it won't be much longer. Do I need to change this somewhere. Have no name for said clipper yet since I'm flying a courier right now. Bite My Shiny Metal Asp got blown to bits then he was done. I'm thinking SS Ambrio for my clipper. If you could tell me how to make corrections, I'd happily do so.

You just post here when you're sure and I'll make 'em :)

I just went ahead and signed up as a freelancer. :) Jacques Station doesn't have mining lasers available so i'll have to buy one before leaving the bubble (need something to do while I'm out there). I'll be hauling 16T domestic appliances. I'm Looking forward to the journey! Can't wait to see what it's like out there!

Anyone notice any passenger missions to Jaques? I'm flying escort, but in a 'conda a single passenger sure would be profitable.

I was at Jaques a couple days ago on Xbox & they sell mining lasers. Size 1 at least.
