Oh dear. Even allowing for a very wide margin of error, the shortest that distance could be according to this surveying method is almost 73 meters further than Mengy's measurement -- an error of almost 20%.

Are the ratios between distances roughly the same with your method? If they're similar it's not too much of a game-changer, if they're way out.... Urgh.

There is a longer sequence here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...9-The-Canonn?p=4752875&viewfull=1#post4752875

I know we've seen something similar before but I was thinking each "word" might be a line of an image with the thick blocks denoting start/end - but they are different lengths suggesting not but they are indeed "words"

That sequence is shorter, certainly not the whole sequence - If it's a message it will repeat - so far I don't have a long enough sample to test, still looking for a good 35min recording to be sure

This is probably redundant, but just a reminder for CMDRs recording the audio to ensure they have their device's soundcard set to render & capture the high frequencies. I think, but am not sure, that ED minimums are 24 bit @ 48KHz.

It must be numbers not words.
or words in unicode but this is little ... q_q

Then possibly, characters represented by the numbers, which build into words.

Here is a close up of how I think the message is separated, sorry my drawing skills are lacking but hope this makes sense. will be able to do a lot more once we have the whole sequence (Recording)

Thoughts?

Nutter,

is there any chance you can post the unmarked/unedited version for clarity and comparison, please (possibly in the same post it's from, if possible)?

I figured that sleep is overrated and sat here till 2am this morning.
I will provide a short analysis when I finished work.
incl: 56mins recording, different obelisks, different types, states of obelisk, patterns etc.

Thank you! Awesome!

Make sure to have an eye on your fuel stat of the SRV! :D
My recording ended abruptly with an explosion yesterday.
(tabbed out of game, didn't notice)

+1 for dedication to science!

Hey have people tried recording the obelisks before or after hitting them with healing beams?

I should note that the beam didn't damage the obelisk at all after 5 mins. Class 4 gimbal beams with regeneration sequence.

Kind of reminds me of the PSG.

Heads up on the audio I've been recording, I've been kicked off the game multiple times so havn't had a long string yet. I'll keep at it and update if I manage to get anything substantial. So far 20m is my best.

I think the transaction server is working against us folks. Stay alert.

I found a link between the crash sites and the ruins. Its not much, and its very speculative, but its an avenue at least.

The ruins have always looked like a power grid to me, and it seems there is still some residual power left powering certain elements within.

Now, the crash sites and the ruins site, their planets have 1 thing in common. Germanium.

Germanium is used in transistors and other electronic stuff like solar cells. And in the past, semiconductor electronics were based entirely from Germanium.

From the wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germanium

Germanium "metal" (isolated germanium) is used as a semiconductor in transistors and various other electronic devices. Historically, the first decade of semiconductor electronics was based entirely on germanium. Today, the amount of germanium produced for semiconductor electronics is one fiftieth the amount of ultra-high purity silicon produced for the same. Presently, the major end uses are fibre-optic systems, infrared optics, solar cell applications, and light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Germanium compounds are also used for polymerization catalysts and have most recently found use in the production of nanowires. This element forms a large number of organometallic compounds, such as tetraethylgermane, useful in organometallic chemistry.

Something to ponder.

For those interested, here's what the Ruins look like at various altitudes:

it's not exact, but may assist those searching elsewhere!

o7

Notice the large amount of small cratering about 1 to 2 Km out at the 10 o'clock position and another set (less dense and aligned directly away from the site) at the 1 o'clock direction. These both align with the breaches in the boundary wall.

+repped. I thought you'd coloured the boxes, but apparently not. Difficult to gain anything from it at first glance, this one is going to take an extra few layers of tinfoil and a serious amount of biscuits...

PS I even dutifully headed to the front page. Thanks Riz.

If I can get a longer sample I should be able to section up start to finish the 'words'
