VR animation when jumping to stars rocks - except the swirl - major hurl

No nausea here, but maybe it could be tweaked for those sensitive to it.

On another note I'd love some cockpit shake while jumping, like you get in 2D. I can't imagine that would be nauseating, any thoughts there?

I tried to do it myself, but my neck was like, 'Stop it.'

No problems here, my VR legs are quite sturdy by now.
I can imagine it could have affected me in my earlier VR days though. So not ideal for VR beginners and the VR sickness prone.

So, three weeks later. Has anyone who reported motion sickness in this thread gotten used to the rotating effect?
Definitely still a no-go here, have to close my eyes during jumps or really fixate on the feet :).

It's definitely gotten better for me... as long as I don't look out the side windows, or make a lot of consecutive jumps. The limit seems to be about seven it eight rapid jumps now, and I usually have to stop to refuel after six.

Still would prefer the jump sequence without the swirl, though.

I, love the much improved Sequence of 2.2. But the spinning makes me soo sick! I got used to close my eyes and lissen to the sounds an just wait for the "wuuuuut Bam!" to open my eyes again. So much for the animation part of it.:x I dream of a config Item to tune it down a bit so I could watch... but there are bigger problems out there. SRV is terrible (instant sweat and nausia), Mining gets me sometimes too. But I love my Rift and ED Rocks! So what the hell! [wacky]

I honestly didn't know it was swirling at all during witchspace until pointed out by this thread.

Still doesn't bother me though.

Bring on the swirl ! :D

Exactly, eyes closed 'till the sound queue :), too bad the awesome animation is wasted on us. There are definitely more urgent issues out there, but when I'm travelling a lot I can't help but find it rather silly I'm playing a game with my eyes closed 1/3rd of the time. Mining is ok, I stick to the less revolting asteroids. It gets tricky when the asteroid has some serious spin and is filling up the biggest portion of my view. As if my brain can't decide and keeps switching between the asteroid spinning around its axis / my ship spinning around the asteroid.

The SRV is, as of yet, impossible. I can manage a couple of minutes if I keep the throttle below walking speed. Any "regular" usage causes major discomfort in no-time, after that I'm done with VR for a few hours.

Weirdly, I like the feeling of disorientation it creates. It makes you feel like you really have just done something very weird and laws-of-physics defying. Adds to the immersion :)

That's why I stopped closing my eyes and tried acclimating myself. I like the idea that my character suffers from Witchspace Sickness.

That is exactly how I feel. Its laughable I spent 2k€ for VR to play the game in "audio" mode. [cool] But over all the rest of the experience in Elite is amazingly solid to me.[up]

This is the only time I feel disorientated when in VR.
I was going to complain as well.
It is unnecessary and unrealistic, no spacecraft would spin like that.

I haven't had a problem with any ship flight animations. When in hyperspace I usually am concentrating on blindly feeling around my desk for my beer bottle and straw :)

The SRV however. Urggg I've never actually been motion sick, but that does it for me.

Something that helped a ton is the lock on horizon option in the graphics setting.

On the other hand, if you really want to punish yourself.
Use an Xbox controller
Lay flat on the floor looking up at the ceiling
Recenter cockpit view.
Drive and feel your eyes and body go "Eff You!"

The final swirl does make me ever so slightly nauseous - what I find really annoying is that it's always in the same direction. I think if its direction and speed were varied ever so slightly I wouldn't mind nearly as much.
