So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

You know, if it's an exploration CG that's tied to exploring specific areas, then that means that exploration CG-s have evolved - if even only a bit. At least, in the past the "biggest" restriction to such CG-s was that they had to be at a certain maximum distance from the CG base, no? Searching specific areas would be something new.
Of course, if this has already happened before and I'm just behind on the loop, please disregard what I said.

Lets be clear on something. CoR have not and do not get privileged information. We've never asked for it and would never expect it. When FD dropped the whole Rift/Salome thing last year, CoR became pretty much full on roleplay as thats all that was left. Since then the whole thing is back on FDs agenda and CoR have been used as a vehicle to bring parts of the story alive, in-game, via interaction with Salome (who friends anyone by the way), and the snippets of GalNet articles that everyone has access to. CoR *may* get a hint that there's a chance to roleplay an upcoming event that ties in with the story, but it does not get any meat and bones about where things are heading before anyone else does. Other groups who put the dedication and work in have also been included in the roleplay aspect of bringing interaction and events to the game (I think the Raan Corsen story arc is linked, but he is not part of any CoR roleplay initiative).

People have been told that this is a player driven narrative, and thats what CoR and others try to do via the the events they hold and content they create. So far we haven't seen any evidence of that, despite the obscene amount of hours the Rifters and ourselves have dedicated to the Rift mystery over the last 6 months (and some CoR only ventures going back over a year).

You'll get no argument from me regrading FDs lack of actual in game content to work with and how roleplay is no substitute for actual hands on substance, nor no argument on the snails pace things are rolled out (try keeping a group interested and active when there are weeks and months of nothing to go on!). So sometimes roleplay is the only substitute that fills the gaps (I'm talking from a player group perspective here).

Drew is probably as frustrated as anyone since FD call the shots at the end of the day, but at least things are beginning to move. Lets hope today is the start of actual activities that have visible consequences we can all recognize further down the line... then maybe the roleplay aspects can better work in tandem with the story, and not be a substitute for it.

Can't rep + you more.

You don't have to register before you come back to sell the data, do you?

For a CG you have to register before anything you have collected counts towards that CG. However there is nothing to stop you collecting (exploration data, Heike Tea, hobnobs, whatever is needed), going to the designated station, registering for the CG then immediately selling your collected items. But if you sell without registering you will get the profits but it won't count towards the CG. Thought this was common knowledge.

You can register on any station's mission board, even seconds before you start selling the data.

Is it any station now? Is that a new thing for 2.2?
If so can you sell anywhere to contribute, or is it still only at the designated station?

You've been able to register at any station since 2.1 I thought that was common knowledge :p :p

You still have to sell at the designated station though, thank goodness, though even that probably won't be long before people complain enough to get it changed.

*edit* Actually to be fair you don't even need to be in a station to sign up.

Well, I haven't done a CG since the SS1 search, so I'm a bit out of touch! :)

Hawkins Gap and the Conflux are much closer to the bubble than I realised. Thinking about heading to the Gap rather than the Rift, as I figure there are a lot of people in the Rift already. Although I kinda want to go back to the Rift anyway. Decisions decisions.

So EAFOTS EU-R C4-1 is confirmed to be the Formidine Rift [noob]

Well, only by CoR who are a player group. Frontier might correct any errors in such coordinates in a playerCG, or they might not! But it does tie in with the EAFOTSEAFOTS...signal from the Tionisla graveyard clue, which may be encouraging.

Early signs are encouraging that this CG is a more advance exploration CG. Data submitted to the CG collected from places not in the three regions mentioned, hasn't counted to the global progress.

Lets hope that holds true and there isn't a lag issue involved.

Update : any data counts.

Hm, I'm not very far from the Plaa Aec system. Does anybody know if systems have to be scanned after one signs up for the CG or not? Do I have to go back to the bubble and sign up for the CG first, or can I scan the systems, then return back to the bubble, sign up for the CG and turn in the data from earlier?

Go scan them. Then come back to bubble and sign up for community goal. Then sell data.

Doesn't matter when you scan the data, as long as you're signed up before you turn it all in.

That would be great - so anything from those sectors is good? (i.e. all Eafots is fine but not Heart Sector or IC 1848 Sector)?
I wonder why it is that the Federation are competing against it, though - the Empire I could understand but why would the Federation not want Salome's innocence to be demonstrated?
If this is going to last the full two weeks and not finish early, then this will provide the reason for me to get out to Hawking's Gap for the first time. That said, it's not a lot of time to do much real exploration out there, so I might be better off heading back to my work unit in Eafots...

An urgent message from Alessia Verdi....

A statement from the Children of Raxxla...

URGENT! HELP NEEDED!

Open your eyes, independent commanders! Karl Devene launches a major expedition to the Formidine Rift, the Conflux and Hawking's Gap and asks us independent commanders for help? The very person who publicly derided the exploration community via GalNet not long ago? Do you remember this?

Through Salomé we know that something is hidden out there that the major powers want to keep a secret. She threatened to reveal it and was shamefully captured, kept in arrest without contact to the outside, put under trial on false evidence and sentenced to life-long imprisonment. We are convinced she is innocent and that the scandalous accusations against her can be disproved. But only if we have sufficient evidence.

We urgently need data from these areas :

Link : Hawking’s Gap

Link : The Conflux

Link : The Formidine Rift

We’re looking for stellar scans, planet information and any and all anomalies detected. This is our chance to stop one of the most important cover-ups in history. We ask every freedom-loving commander to help uncover the secrets that so many explorers have tirelessly looked for over the past 18 months.

Help the truth! Help Salomé! Don't let the mystery of the Rift be uncovered by the power blocs run by 'people' who have tried desperately to keep the truth from the public for almost 2 years.

Something possibly more worrysome than the Thargoids resides within the Rift, and now possibly Hawking's Gap and the Conflux - humanity needs to now know... humanity needs to prepare for what's coming - we can no longer trust the so called powers who have been corrupted and become decadent.

The Children of Raxxla will be rewarding commanders directly at their home port of Serebov Terminal in HR 6421.

Yes, but the Fed CG has nearly the same text (different wording, same info). I find it rather unlikely that FD officially would release 2 CGs with erroneous descriptions. I would assume they would have just dropped the sentence with the colloquial names in such a case. At least we got strong evidence here IMHO. But you never know for sure, ofc [noob]

I submitted others data and it seems they count for monetary rewards (183 reports, top 5% cmdrs) but no for global progress, as stated by Erimus.
Any update about this? Does the CG really involve ONLY data from these 3 regions? On route to the rift by now, approx 150 jump
