So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

I have one question. How does exploration data exonerate someone for attempted murder?

Along the same lines, how does it look to aid a "terrorist organization" instead of a recognized superpower?

Don't mistake me, I support CoR and will participate on their side, but it does raise the question as to how it would affect you if the Galaxy knew you aided terrorists.

Early signs are encouraging that this CG is a more advance exploration CG. Data submitted to the CG collected from places not in the three regions mentioned, hasn't counted to the global progress.

Lets hope that holds true and there isn't a lag issue involved.

If this is true then it’s a great new feature for Elite, and it might even be a precursor to actual exploration missions coming to the gam soon! I’m actually more excited about this new mechanic than the CG itself, LOL!!!!!

As pilots with scanners, our consideration the exact nature of what is contained within the scan data is currently only relevant to geologists, other similar explorers astronomers and of course, Universal Cartographics.
Our general evaluation of he data is limited to the credits one receives through sale to UC, the information content for our galactic mapping software and the potential for locating particular mineral deposits.
Otherwise, we tend not to even acknowledge other data that may be included. Indeed, otherwise there is no discernable relevance to in-game mechanics at all - this does not, however, mean that there may not be a wealth of included data.

Just how whatever data that is, and how it can be used for the purpose of acquittal is still a pertinent question.

It seem clear that before proceeding with his narrative into ED, he (and FD) want to understand what people prefers: following a storyline fed-side or faction-side.

I submitted others data and it seems they count for monetary rewards (183 reports, top 5% cmdrs) but no for global progress, as stated by Erimus.
Any update about this? Does the CG really involve ONLY data from these 3 regions? On route to the rift by now, approx 150 jump

Data collected from anywhere counts... this isn't quite how we perceived this CG would work, I guess the consolation is that there is something within 200 LYs of the locations mentioned in the CG text, so it at least encourages players interested to go out there and collect data from those regions.

Great! A comms beacon in the Rift. What does it say? Any Imp or Fed markings?

[noob]

Nope but someone left it there for a reason. Possibly even Salome herself. Going to go near any landable body in the system in case something new pops up

Star with landables orbiting it is more than 100 kls from main star. Im confident something will appear while approaching it

There is to less information of the COR are the good the bad or ugly, so I believe we must be cautious in supporting this faction CG and let them grow more powerful

Michael Brookes just confirmed that the CG's accept exploration data from anywhere, NOT just the specific areas:

Unfortunately not yet, but I'd love to expand the variety of exploration CGs at some stage.

Oh well, it's good to know for sure at least. :|

I am about 150 Ly short of Heart and Soul nebulae in a Clipper with ADS and DSS, so this event has me well placed to gather data. Due to the shortish jump range I will probably not be able to venture far into the rift, but I will do what I can.

From my point of view it's a pity. Now we "risk" to go there, stay there to find something, and not make in time to return before cg ends because of some random data. Obviously it's not about money, it's about *really* binding the cg to a discovery. A lost occasion from fdev.

Well, the previous beacons all had their special times when they became talkative IIRC - could be worth to wait a little... [noob]

"Have you listened to it?" :D

Seriously, any data message or even audio recording of beeps?
I'm quite a noob to exploration but I've never seen one of these before, I'm guessing it's quite relevant!

a mate who is an "expert recorder" is on his way here asap :)
