Patch Notes Update 2.2.02 Update

Thanks for the patch but since 2.2 went live there have been too many game-breakers that still aren't addressed and according to official dev posts aren't going to be fixed in the immediate future. I'll probably (if I can discipline myself) take a 90-day break and reassess whether the game is playable in the new year.

Please, someone tell me what your incentive for playing this game is right now? At the moment it seems to be that everything I could want to do in Horizons has been replaced by a grind or is walled-off by bugs. I don't want to grind even more because it's not fun and ED is already one of the grindiest games on the market. It seems that some of the "freemium" mobile games that offer a choice of "grind or pay" are less grindy that Elite these days. Was that by design? Apparently so.

Not only this issues, but 2.2 also introduced a huge pile of performance bugs which annoys me a lot and ruining the joy. I'm not playing from release of 2.2 and not going to play until Frontier stops attempts to add a new content on the fly, adding more and more bugs and made a one big update fully dedicated only to fixing the existing issues.

What does this mean:

Fix for client and server disagreeing about whether a jet cone boost is active and kicking the player.

It means your PC told the server you were gaining a boost from a jet cone (at a neutron star), but the server didn't agree and the difference caused you to be disconnected from the server - you are 'kicked' from the server.

Thanks spondoolix. That makes sense. However It seems when you log back in from this you are placed in the jet cone and you get torn apart.

And that needs to be fixed.

FD has been silent about it.

Can anyone help?
I am trying to get the update... it goes through all the steps but when it gets to "finalizing update" it drops saying "failed to read from response stream, network connection closed"

My connection is fine, I can play with no irregular lag spikes on other games.

is the servers down?

you have to manually delete some files,I cant remember what the exact names were its in that thread/page somewhere

Is it just me or would anyone else rather FD sorted out the game as it stands, rather than keep coming up with these huge new developments that don't really work? Each time they completely change the way the game is played before I even get used to it as it is. I know a lot of you live and breathe this stuff but I haven't got 100 hours per week to play, although I enjoy it when I can. There's just no choice given to us whether to adopt these updates or not.

For instance I'm still off exploring because every time I left a station in the Bubble I got blown to pieces by an npc, even in a heavily-specced python. If people want the challenge of a life-or-death battle every time that's fine but why not have selectable npc power levels?

I'm just saying I'm still trying to cope with the updates from a few months ago and there have been huge changes since then, a lot of which don't make the game more enjoyable and just introduce more bugs.

Stop doing all this "clever" stuff and de-bug what you've already got. I don't think you're attracting any new players - in fact the learning curve is probably now so steep they're put off immediately.

Just saying............

If you do some historical research, you will find this question on cave walls, stone tablets, and ancient papyruses. :)

Done some research, you're dead right ...

FAS, maybe other ships, was 405 km/s max boost, now over 500 km/s with FA off/turn/boost?

Either I have never noticed, forgot, or its new: My FAS had a max boost speed of 405 km/s but when I boost now and turn with FA off then I can get the speed to go over 500 km/s. Can this be correct?

Can't really tell if its simply displaying a different value and the max speed is actually the same or if its really faster. Maybe its always been like that and I simply did not pay attention previously. I can't find anything in the patch notes or I have overlooked something. Maybe its nothing. Does anybody know?

Was there some change to weapon damages?

I've got a Python with 3 G5 Pulse (+thermal) and 2 G5 Multi-cannons (+corrosive), and couldn't kill a Cobra before it ran/jumped away.

Two days ago, in an CZ, a Cobra would last 10 seconds.

It also seems that when supercruising, you get accelerated and shoot past things way easier now (I've got over 1000 hours in the game, and am pretty familiar/practiced with the "7second" thing. Now I over shoot 75% of the time.

Maybe it's my imagination.

first impressions....No impressed with Passenger mission nerf, missions were always meant to profit the longer and better relations you had with a system not to get nerfed like this, frontier when are you going to learn to fix things like this before they go live, all your doing is killing immersion for players thats all.

I am seeing passenger missions from 20K to 20M for trips within the bubble. Larger payouts over 1M are common where you are allied and in a boom state. Seems fairly reasonable to me. I hauled some granny around the bubble for 20M last night. Four locations all within 200LY but she made me criss-cross the bubble a few times.

I saw a few very long missions of 26-30KLY for 50M to 80M. I won't take these mainly because of the 3 week time limit. Give me 3 months and I might take a passenger for my next exploration run.

Cargo and data missions seem to be about what they were before 2.2.

Would it be possible to confirm if the VY Canis (Gargantuan) Tourist mission is now possible to complete? The surface area of the star was making it the job of many many hours (I failed) to get withing 1000ls so the POI showed on the left panel. Issue was prior to latest patch.

They are always tweaking in the background.
But npc level varies greatly how easy it is to kill something.
Dangerous and above you almost have to work for it. Around expert and they evaporate in front of you.
