Didn't they "fix" bynary landing in 2.2?

I thought I read on 2.2 patch notes that bad binary landing had been fixed. If upon landing on a binary system the nav comp detects another high mass (a star) it would break at a safe distance from the closest star.

Yesterday night I passed trought the core of a secondary star old fashion, emerged in its corona at 120% heat, recovered from an hearth attack, popped an heat sink, switched off fuel scoop, distributor and shields, sced away with 4% module and hull dmg.

No biggy, If it wasn't for a close stroke. you know when you jhonk like if there's not tomorrow for the CG, everything is samey, they you fly through a star? That stroke.

Not lamenting, I find binary landings a good unavoidable risk that entertains me, just tought they had "fixed" it.

It's not fixed, it's just rarer and avoidable with split-second reflexes and flawless ability to decide which way to heave on the joystick on dropping out. You can no longer end up directly between the stars with no good options.

I remember reading that and thought that it should not be happening any more. I've since arrived close enough to a closely-orbiting secondary star that I was scooping from it rather than the primary but have not flown through a star yet in 2.2, although it was always a very rare occurrence. If you have video I'd suggest submitting a bug report, maybe?

Yes, it was not a death sentence, but I couldn't really avoid taking heat dmg. When i regained control of ship i was in a 120% heat zone, and no flight skill would have avoided that. Flight skills kicked in in not panicking, using an heat sink, and switching off modules while scing away. And well, I ended up directly between the stars, I had option to make it out alive, but no option to avoid dmg.

No vid. I used to have nvidia experience running that allows you to save the last 5 minutes. But after last nvidia update they have messed it all and now they want to me stay fullscreen in order of it to work. It makes no sense, I have a secondary monitor bought to manage all the 3rd party tools, and since a month ago it worked flawlessy in windowed mode.

Indeed, do some of you happen to know a workaround or can suggest me an alternative recording software? i'm willing to pay (a reasonable price) for a recording software that works in windowed mode.

You shouldn't be able to go through a star now, from the patch notes:

- It is no longer possible to travel through or end up inside another star if you hypespace into a multi-star system. If an intervening star is detected your hyperspace will be redirected onto that star. This process repeats if the new path is also obstructed. Note that you can still end up dangerously close to other stars and get more than a little cooked

So if it is happening still you should raise it as a bug. Give them the systems you were travelling from & to and they hopefully should be able to repeat it and hence fix it.

Be praised EDD that now signals also heat warnings, so I could backtrack the system: Byeia Eurk JI-A c14-25
Making a bug report.

I use Obs project which is free, https://obsproject.com/. Works great for me and also has a configurable Replay buffer.

I'm not saying I could do it either: I've ended up taking heat damage every time it's happened to me (I was back and forth through the core over the weekend and the systems there are lifting with close binaries). The last one,I think if I'd been a split-second faster and gone a bit to the left I'd not have been quite so bad off. The way the rules go now you don't get dropped right in the cacky, just right over it with such significant downward velocity that you're in dead lumber unless you're like a greased weasel on the stick.
