May I ask how much you have invested in this . . .
game? 'cause it looks more and more like a pipe dream to me. Selling ships for hundreds of bucks, with no real, finished product to show (or even likely to finish within the next two years) -- I don't know, I'm just glad I didn't give them any money.
Once the deliver a finished, working product, that may well change. But not before, and certainly not if they keep selling "ships" for hundreds of bucks (some go for as much as over TWO THOUSAND bucks . . . the price of quite a good gaming computer!). Maybe I'm just too daft to see the benefit, but paying that much money for something I could just as well toil my way towards in the finished game (provided there IS a finished game, of course) is something I'd not do. 'course, I've got a family to feed, I cannot blow one and a half grand on a JPEG.
It would be interesting to know what the consequences are if that entire thing falls flat on its face. My best guess is that the backers would all be shafted. I really hope that doesn't come to pass, but one thing is certain: you guys are in for a long, long wait, and if I was you, I'd stop advertising. The ship prices are very much real money, and some people could get really, really upset.
