The Star Citizen Thread v5

I was just looking at https://www.google.com/trends/explore?cat=8&q=/m/0n5v7g2,/m/064hbl (ED and SC, global). I'm genuinely surprised by that, given the hot air over SC...
(Also, what's up with Spain?)

Well its about the false narrative that some of SC fans like to spin. The reality is that no one cares about space games, and of those that care about space games even fewer of them care about SC. Except Spain, they care. It is this little micro bubble that SC lives in that thinks that anything CIG does matters to the outside world.

Hahahahahahaha :D

That might be actually true, I just love to see how they try to figure out their way out of this, as their brand has been tied to CryEngine for years :D

Also sod it can't rep anyone in our little circle jerk anymore, high five guys, we are really Evil's incarnate :D

Sadly me neither! Too much lulz.

Just a guess but I would bet that Star Citizen is dependent on the CryTek licensing. If CryTek folds, someone will buy them and that could impact the licensing deals.

For them to claim ‘not dependent on them for anything’ must mean that Chris Roberts is planning on buying out CryTek. Just my supposition, don't buy stock on rumors!

That's actually geniue question. Yes, when you license engine at higher level, you get source code - but question is, how copyright is handled? If there's no transfer of rights, CryTek folding and someone coming up, buying assets and saying CIG contract is void will land them in legal mess very very fast.

So yes, it is very abrupt PR move from Chris trying to steer away from issue, while in fact fallout can be very damaging to project as hole.

I just love when open source guys usually know this stuff way better than regular commercial vendors who don't face this till fat lady sings - and ohh boy how everyone plays surprise then.

Of course the vote is rigged, it's all bots voting Star Citizen!

They are just damn too effective, as anything Star Citizen named or branded.

...

Or people really think project with no deliveries for 2 years and 2 years late with production troubles under their belt could actually finally fold.

Oh my word, that radar (shamelessly ripped off of Elite, natch), on hydraulic jacks!!!!!

I'm pretty sure when I run with a helmet on, it doesn't bounce up and down on my head!!!! So they replaced the stupid head-bob, with stupid helmet-bob????

If it's like that when this thing ever releases, I can't play it with that in it - I almost barfed 10 seconds into the video!

RSI (or CIG - I don't know anymore...) are the best at marketing and hype.

All other game studios are best at making games.

That's what Google trends says :D
