That's funny.. because I play almost exclusively in open and rarely have to PvP and that's not for a lack of players to engage with.
So you quit within months of the game's release, have supposedly quit multiple times and are ready to quit again?
Nah, Robert's a well spoken troll like the rest of us. I think he enjoys rustling jimmies. Though I've noticed he tends to ignore you if you back him into a corner that breaks his logic.

Asymptotically approaching the limit allows one to test the boundaries, without going way over the top (and not recognising where the boundary was once passed).

Troll can mean many things, it's all about the context, which with the way you debate things on this forum leads me to believe that you do it either unintentionally or are just good at being very subtle with it in your replies. You incite a certain.. anger.. in most of your debate opponents with your steadfast refusal to acknowledge their points (or ignore them altogether). Mind you, this isn't a jab at you. As I said, I enjoy debating the finer points of ED, PvP and Open/Solo with you.

Surely the heat has gone out of this for most people, I remember commentating on this thread (the 1st part) a long time ago and nearly everyone who was going mad about it then (on all sides) have long disappeared. I said then that the modes were staying and people should just live with it, nothing that I know of has been said by FD to contradict that.
I got that much but my poor dumb brain just couldn't look at the sentence and see the message he was trying to convey.

Wanted to address this statement. It's a bit overreaching.
I play in Open almost exclusively, and have had similar experiences to the one you described (hooking up with randos, having fun, etc). Sometimes I play in Solo. It depends on my mood and other factors.
Yesterday I was working the BGS, but I wanted to go grab some mods quickly, and just for fun. I did it in Solo. Why? It wasn't that I didn't want to get shot - I was flying an inexpensive ship, and was going after level 1 mods. All mats, no cargo. It's that I didn't want to waste the time in the event of getting shot. I wanted to get to the engineers, get out, and get on with my "bigger" tasks.
