Was just trying to help [rolleyes][up] Btw why would you need to re-download it in a few days?

If you don't like to be an alpha tester just don't then, complaining about patching systems is kinda dumb as it makes you look like you dont understand game development.

If you remember the 2.5 patch there were *patches* rolled out after it went live for days after.

As for game development, I've actually Alpha tested World of Warcraft(the original, and two expansions), EVE online, and a few lesser know games. All of those games had actual patches, not full demo downloads. So please tell me what I don't understand about game development, I'm all ears.

I cannot believe that someone would say such an ignorant thing. This has to be a troll post surely.

I was not aware of that particular Paul Neurath game. Have you seen his Underworld:Ascendant kickstarter'd game? I had no qualms funding that one. Interestingly, they're working to push out a vertical slice to early backers, but I don't foresee the drama and shirt-rending we've all come to expect from that phrase.

Of course I have. To paraphrase a millenial gamer lass I know, I stuffed money into my DVD drive.

You understand that only someone with absolutely no clue whatsoever about anything even remotely related to software would even being to contemplate the idea of believing that CIG's incompetence as far as patching goes would even in some far-off universe be considered normal or sensible game development, right?

So no. Complaining about the lack of patching for this game is the first thing that will tell you that they actually do know something about game development. Anyone who defends it has no business commenting on other people's understanding of the topic. Five years in, and CIG has still failed to create something that could be a file-I/O home assignment on a programming 101 course. There is no excuse, and anyone who has any contact with any kind of game released since the invention of read-write media will understand this.

Well that trailer certainly seems to communicate that they consider 2.6 a polished consumer ready product. I'd be really disappointed if I saw that, threw down some cash and found that I couldn't actually progress with any kind of game state. Anyway, glad all those fans got what they wanted after all these years of development.. Space FPS. After Roberts stopped making games and people started playing endless Doom and Quake clones it's good to see that after five years of development he essentially presents us with exactly the same space game everyone else has been making for the past 20 years. Not my cup of tea, I was hoping for interesting ways to live in space ships rather than yet another unload-your-contemporary-semi-automatic-down-the-corridor-but-in-space affair.

Also, this video is essentially re-launching the crowd funding campaign again while suggesting that Star Citizen has "hundreds of solar systems"

Ah, CIG does it again.

1. Has woefully incompetent update mechanism that cannot deliver proper patches.
2. Releases a version that has issues when updating.
3. Says that using a VPN might solve the stalled updates.
4. Offers a suggestion for a free VPN service to use.
5. Said VPN service has a 500MB limit for free users.

[haha] :D [wacky]

Shillizens out in force now with fake profiles being made up to promote that video and free fly in the elite Facebook groups..... It's not right.

What a disappointment that would be for xmas

“We’ve been working with Amazon for more than a year, as we have been looking for a technology leader to partner with for the long term future of Star Citizen and Squadron 42,” said the game’s creative lead and studio head Chris Roberts. “Lumberyard provides groundbreaking technology features for online games. Because we share a common technical vision, it has been a very smooth and easy transition to Lumberyard.”

Wow, CIG have been working with Amazon on this all year, keeping this info from backers and selling the hope for SQ42 in 2016! I can see why Chris packaged this bit of info with the 2.6 release just before Christmas.

Well yeah. What do you expect? Some kind of open development deal where backers are treated with the kind of insight and respect they'd get if they were a publisher?

Also, speaking of publisher, what I've read about the licensing deal suggests that if you want to make your Lumberyard project commercial, you have to get permission from Amazon. So there's CIG's publisher all of a sudden. :D

I wonder what the intercompatability between the two engines is? Will they have to have yet another asset throwaway? What happened to Item 2.0?
To put it in perspective -
SC's engine is CIG modifications of CryEngine 3.7-3.8
CryEngine 5 is CryTek modifications of CryEngine 3.8
Lumberyard is Amazon modifications of CryEngine 3.8

That video reeks of desperation of sucking up blood of thousand hopless new backers who don't know any better. Cleary work of that reputation company.

Yeap it's dead simple, they went with a stronger partner in Amazon (I hope) since Crytek doesn't seem to be doing so well and might not provide the needed updates to the engine.

Star Citizen Twitch is doing great with lot's of streamers and more than 1k viewers ! [praise][up]
