Anyone used PS-VR on PC with Elite ???

Well I HAVE IT :) ... and liking it.

Was very bad when i started ... but thanks to your post its very acceptable ( multiplier tip ) I have elite on max settings and multiplier at 1.6 currently.

Need to tweak some more because when moving my head i see a slight stutter.

What did you addapt in elite settings ?

Haha.. Enjoy!!

Some tips from my setup: HMD quality. I have 1.25. but you should go higher.
in game supersampling.. turn it lower (i have 0.65 or something). The setting in the steam file works way better.
material quality high or ultra for better looking cockpit etc?
textures high
Blur off.
Bloom off.
antialiassing all off.
shadow quality has lot of impact so I keep it low.

Also if you don't use the main screen.. turn resolution lower for main screen (640x480). Also helps.

If you're seeing a "ripple" effect as you move your head it's one of 2 things. You're either dropping well below 90 fps or you have Elite in one of the Oculus Space Warp modes, like mode 3 or 4, and it's adding those visual glitches. To see try this - press Ctrl+Numpad1 about 5 times (has to be your keyboard number pad at the right) and it will likely go away. After that press Ctrl+Numpad4, if that brings it back then the issue is dropped frames. You can also move your head up/down vertically using the same keystrokes to see which looks better. So try those 2 settings and see which looks better to you overall.

WIth me this impacted performance quite a lot: steam vr settings: Allow asynchronous reprojection => Check
and allow interleaved reprojection => check.
After that I could put some settings higher and keep acceptable framerate.

I am pretty sure this is all I can get out of my laptop with gtx 850M and psvr.. But it is very playable.
-Check two boxes in steamvr (see above).
-"renderTargetMultiplier" : 1.4 in steam vr config file
-Desktop resolution low
-textures and materials etc all high or ultra
-Supersampling in game .65
-HMD image 1.5 or 1.25
-AA FXAA
-Blur off ambient occ off

I was under the impression that PSVR on the PC had to go through Trinus, which goes through SteamVR. Do the numberpad shortcuts work on that platform?

Yes through trinus. Working like a charm. Must do some more tweaking and hope the 90hz refresh rate comes soon also.

The stutter when moving is in stations and when planets become in view ( more demanding i supose ? ) . But its do-able.

Does anyone know if it possible to run ED WITHOUTH the 2d view being vissible on my desktop ? Now my videocard is sending image to the Psvr AND the desktop. Would be nice if i can switch that 2d screen off somhow so all capasity goes into VR.

Not sure if thats possible since extended desktop is needed. But hoping there is a tweak 😬

Working like a charm...

Any chance you'd post a video showing how well it works? I'm very curious about this, I have a Rift but know many friends who would consider this if it works well.

It's completely unnecessary, it's a misconception that displaying the game in VR and on desktop effects performance. The way it works the video card renders the image, that's what takes all the power. Once it's rendered it's then sent to both the headset and desktop window. It takes basically no power to send the same pixels to two different devices, at least FAR less than it takes to render those pixels in the first place. Now if your headset was registering your front view and the desktop was showing say a rear ship view then yes, it would be an issue as the card is now rendering 2 different views at once.

Not only have I researched this quite a lot to confirm (when I first got my Rift back in April) I've done my own testing with other games that let you disable the desktop window and there was zero performance hit. Not sure if you know the app VorpX, it lets you run non-VR games in VR. That takes a good bit of extra power to do the conversion and even it has a mirror to desktop view option as that doesn't take any additional work for the video card.

Make sense?

Thanks for the explanation... since i'm running at a gtx980M i can use all tweaks available :)

Will try to make a video soon. Do not have much time this week. Its working great ... running on VR high settings and adapted multiplier to 1.5.

Like said i'm having a SLIGHT but annoying stutter when moving my head inside a station. Outside it works super. Refresh rate is capped at 60 ... but they are working on 90. Tracking with gyros is flawless ( but they are also working on using the laptop cam )

Will post a link to video when available

Happy 2017 everyone

Thanks ... will play around with that ( steam vr settings ). I have the multiplier on 1.6 and VR settings high. Thats all i adapted [smile] ... and running very acceptable but want it just a little bit smoother inside stations. Oveclocked my GTX980M to the max .... temperature is still a perfect 68 celsius max during gameplay [up].

Perhaps a stupid question ..... but where did you set the below ?? Can not find ingame and in the nvidia settings

-Supersampling in game .65
-HMD image 1.5 or 1.25
-AA FXAA
-Blur off ambient occ off

Hey all,

Chiming in with my experience on PSVR + Trinus + SteamVR.

You can force async reprojection under steamVR settings, this will write a line in your steamvr.vrsettings file. Enabling this helps with dropped frames, especially when you're on a planet. This also removes the "blur / ghosting" effect entirely from the HMD when you're turning your head. However, it only maxes out at 90.

I'm currently looking at driver : null setting for steamvr and seeing if I can push it to 120fps natively, since we don't have direct mode on the driver yet.

Will update with my findings as I tinker more. Overall, having tried all 3 headsets, the PSVR HMD holds up quite well.

Hi,

I was searching the internet about PSVR and found this thread. I got my PSVR working with steam and ED via TRINUS. The quality was very bad. So i was glad to get the info with this supersampling. I run 1.4 with only a gtx970m and it feels ok for now. The ingame text is very readable now. But my main question is about the 3D effect. It is very poor and feels like 2D converted to 3D. I am not sure what is wrong. If I made a mistake, if 3D is not working with the PSVR or if the VR effect in ED is very poor. I tried other Steam VR games and the same problem there. The VR effect with the ps4 in other games (resident evil, pinballfx, etc) is very impressive and I think this should be also on PC. So what is your experience with the PSVR regarding to the effect on PC?
I hope you can understand what I mean and you excuse my english.
