I think it is worth reminding everyone that as one of the devs said, the outcome of the encounter with with the thargoids (yes, it is them) is going to be determined by the actions of the players. Which would've made no sense if the aliens started shooting first.

Regarding shooting them. If something forces me out of hype-jump, disables my controls, then scans me rather threateningly; I AM GOING TO ATTACK IT!

They don't try to communicate or anything.
And how do you know the scan isn't an attempt at communication?

The question here is, where there in a wing with you or someone that had an UA? Because i did like 100 jumps without an UA and nothing happend. With an UA they got me around 6min after picking up an UA.

Have there been any reports of hyperdictions far away from the Pleiades sectors?

P.S. rizal72 needs to wake up, front page update time!

Did they ever play with UAs previous to this encounter?

One of the guys HAD a UA on board prior to the encounter, but ejected it and a wingman of his blasted it to smitherins Unknown Fragments.

The other guy - I have no idea. I'll ask.

I don't think these are Thargoids.
Back before some of you were born, I remember getting interdicted by them and their little drone ships.
It used to take every little bit of skill to just stay alive back then, use all the power in the naval energy unit constantly firing a military laser...Those things died hard and they would always launch an attack as soon as they pulled you out of Witchspace, this guy didn't attack.
Totally not Thargoid behaviour.

Thargoid behavior has changed a bit in different version. What we do know, is that they were not the aggressive party in the very first encounters.

If these ships are scouts for a different hive, they may not even know what happened the last time. In that case, no aggression is to be expected.

The last time the Thargoids were faffing about in the Pleiades, they were actually trying to establish contact with humans to get an antidote for the Mycoid that had infected their ships. First contact at that time was with Commander Mic Turner. It was peaceful until INRA showed up on the scene. Mic Turner has his name on a base in the California Sector, so he is definitely not a myth. Details are unclear though.

UAs, UPs and now these 'Scouts' all seem to be interested in our ships. We don't know if they are just making statistics or if they are interested in a certain commodity or technology.

They have also sent out these small messages. They are probably intended for us in some way.

Thargoids may be looking for a Mycoid cure again or they may have fixed that them self and search for something else. Something not human.

We should at least not kid our self in to thinking that the Thargoids are particularly interested in us, as a species. Our worlds are to hot, our technology is naff and our logic is incomprehensible. [???]

He's been captured by Thargoids :O, I'm sure Rizal72 will be on it as soon as he executes his cunning escape plan [wacky]

He will at least have the sense to honk them.:D

I guess the aliens turning up makes escape to Colonia more important given the CG there....or is it safe? Mwahahahaha.

seems my UA bombing and others has triggered the thresholds to bring the alien thargoids out of hiding, and the whole communtiy was against it bad community :p

I'm really hoping that someone with a super-fast engineer modified ship can try and overtake one as it's leaving, so we can see what's under that canopy!

If no one's already mensioned it, check the crashed ship(s) because they might be sending alien-SOS, now thier mates are in the area. I may go looking for a flying alien, with gifts of alcohol and narcotics. Good Idea?
Also, the EMP looks like the Unknown Probe, so I reckon they're made by the same race (Thargoids?)
Fly Safe now the aliens are here CMDRs.

Analysis of an Interdiction:
Unknown Object interdicts in hyperjump, the screen warps to greenish/brownish light, ship gets "bumped" twice/thrice
Unknown Object interdiction causes an "unknown system malfunction" shutting down the ship
Unknown Object closes in from behind the interdicted ship
Unknown Object leaves a trail and has warped space around the "engine ports" similar to UA distortion
Unknown Object turns towards interdicted ship
Unknown Object "honks" before charging up a device (Which sounds like a "Hello" to me)
Unknown Object's device emits light/radiation and "tentacles" are seen, while the device operates "particles" fly towards the Unknown Object
Unknown Object turns to jump out, ship gets back online after the device being used
Unknown Object leaves behind an unknown wake that has a distortion effect to it

What is the meaning of this?

Theory 1:
The interdiction happens with attaching something to our hyperdrive, shutting down the ship completely.
Without any help, the ship will drift dead, so the Unknown Object uses the device to repair the drive,
sifting away the harmful "spores or barnacles" (particle effect).
This happens to show us, that unlike mankind, who attacked the alien race with a virus inhibiting the jumpdrive,
this race is forgiveful and repairs your ship, for you to spread the word.

Theory 2:
The interdiction and deactivation is the product of research on the Unknown Object's
side, they interdicted President Halsey and destroyed the ship in the process.
With the amount of wars raging in our space, subtly taking some ships as testobjects for
the device to operate like it does now, was no problem.
They interdict you, scan you and implant something,
either for contact or for overruling yourself.

Question:
Where do those 'dicts happen?
Most vids i saw featured Pleiades.

Weird thought:
A frightened human might be so shocked, he might speak of the ship
as a "Dark Wheel".

If you feel brave you could bring them some Toxandji Virocide, but that could work either way.;)

I went to two of the crashed ships last night. Nothing had changed at either of them.

I'm disappointed with the spectro of the honk :(
