That's definitely a transparent dome with structural struts around it, with something that looks a bit like a pair of UA/UP heads inside. It looks to me like there is also some frosting around the cockpit struts, just as we see in our own cockpit during the encounter. It may not be water ice over there, though.

I'd love it if somebody with a PC beefy enough to play in 4k would go hunt one of these encounters in solo and take a few Alt-F10 screenshots for some super-hi-res views! Sadly my PC isn't up to the task :(

What if it's not a cockpit but a radome like on today's planes, the round sections inside could be a sensors array just like they could be on the UA/UP's

Finally got hyperdicted inside the UA shell. Was making my way back to Maia after picking up a UA. I was using economic jumps and I'm sorry to say I was so awestruck I didn't really do much science. Now I'm off to try and find another...

I took to 8K shots that center part gets pretty bright for anything with eyes would be painful; (right click view and click again for 8k)

On another note, Chopper and I were talking to some people last night who said they didn't have a UA on board during the encounter. But I believe each of them had an unknown fragment on board. Which is arguably one of the more important parts of the UA. This is the canister part that breaks off when you destroy them, for those that don't know. Another theory we have all been discussing a little is whether or not the trigger is if you have EVER encountered a UA at all, or had one on board. The only real way to test these ideas is to find someone who has not bothered with any of the alien stuff to date and have them fly around looking for it. The RNG aspect of the encounter will definitely make that take a while, however.

Cant say if its Coincidence or not but I flew around Pleiades for 2 days constantly jumping and didn't encounter a single thing. I visited a Crash Site where I was scanned by the UA`s multiple times. Grabbed an Unknown Fragment and 2 jumps after leaving the planet I was Hyperdicted.

Probably something that was supposed to be implemented at the start of the first contact but Frontier didn't activate it for whatever reason.

Also just a theory: Maybe it's not the Aliens themselves disabling our ship, maybe being interdicted from hyperspace simply has that effect on our ships?

Yes it's been mentioned before. I think it's largely a gameplay aid to prevent you being stranded in a system since the fuel for your attempted jump will have been taken.

Of note, however, I just checked my own inventory and I still have my UA and my fragments after the encounter. He did not have a CRCR and was taking module damage. So maybe that's why they took it?

I can confirm that my Fuel DID in fact fill up after the encounter.

and after my ship powered up, Even though my ship seemed Frozen the actual Temp of it once Computer Rebooted was 22% Heat and still Frosty.

For anyone still looking for UP's for science stuff with the Scout and despite them being very rare, I can confirm they still spawn in the Atmosphere of Ammonia worlds. Using the Spreadsheet from the front page I managed to pick one up in Pleiades IR-W D1-55 Planet 6 at 23.5 mm.
