New Galnet article about hyperdrives is interesting:

Talks about Witchspace and strange lights being seen by pilots.

Have we ever heard of quirium before?

https://community.elitedangerous.com/en/galnet

So that article says:

Galnet said:
"In the late 3290s, a new hyperspace system emerged that immediately rendered the Type 2b obsolete. Jump times were reduced to mere seconds, as they had been with quirium drives, without any loss in jump range. Journeys that had hitherto been considered unfeasible were now within the realms of possibility."
So we've only been able to hop about with gay abandon for at most the last 23 years??

/me looks hard at his 6A FSD, it's cost, and wonders if he'll ever jump again :p

On a more serious (meta) note. For CMDRs that have been winter'd, if you have video and you remember, when you enter hyperspace there are a few seconds before your destination star appears in the middle of your screen (dull, small, gets bigger). That was introduced IIRC with the latest stable release. On Winterdiction (w12n*) did your jump destination appear?

*I might not be entirely sober.

Nope, no destination star came into view during my interdicted jump.

Hopefully not off-topic. Galnet today:

"Even today, hyperspace remains poorly understood. Many pilots have reported glimpsing inexplicable lights, and even structures, within the witch-space tunnels."

As for glimpsing inexplicable lights, some were visible ("fairies" or similar to Aboriginal lights from that movie) during jump but were removed some time ago. As for structures, I've seen something but it was only visible for 1 day after server maintenance. I dont have a screenshot so believe it or drop it. "Many pilots have reported" :p It looked remotely similar to this
st0.gif

but more colorful, and only visible first 1-2 seconds when the jump started.

Has anyone looked into the the shapes in the lens flare when it fires off its yellow beams?

Appears to contain dashes and lines?

Finally happened to me after over 100 jumps in the region. Happened jumping out of Pleiades Sector HR-W D1-58. Was carrying two UA's both of which are still here, in Palin's racks. Also had 4 Telemetry Suites. It didn't head off towards Polaris or Merope. Almost opposite direction to Maia and Merope, more towards the bubble but much higher as it were. Dropped me 433,856ls out from the star

Just curious, not sure if this has been suggested, tried or even possible.

Has anyone attempted to wing into an instance where someone has been hyperdicted? Is this possible to even try? Obviously it would require some patience from at least two people. But could it be possible for one person to interact with the alien ship while the other is disabled

Must have been a bug/glitch for me then.

I remember I definitely didn't see it cus I told my mate that you'll know it's coming cus you won't see your destination star aha.

Weird.

Some jumps you wont see the Destination star until your well inside the Tunnel.
I have noticed a few times heading towards Dark Nebula regions that the star wont show up immediately and takes prolly 2 or 3 seconds of flight before it starts to slightly appear.

its not possible the ship disables your wing beacon

Ahhh I'm guessing mine did that then and since I was interdicted by the thargoid ship it continued not to show.

Makes sense.

For what it's worth I few about Maia and lots of Pleiades sectors and out to the Aires Dark Region with 2 UPs for a couple of hours, 40-50 jumps - all I got was about 500,000cr for the exploration data! less the 20k for repairs( no CRCR ! ).
So I dumped the UPs, repaired and got an AFMU at Diaguandri, then I headed back out Maia on the final jump to Maia it happened!
Cargo = 2 Meta-Alloys
Materials = 6 Unknown Fragments

I can see that the event is always the same, appears to the port side, scans, spins ship to starboard, leaves...

But, can we work out if it's leaving in the same galactic direction each time? I mean, is there a candidate destination or is it random depending on how the hyperdicted pilot exited hyperspace?

(couldn't see link to this question on the front page, sure it will have been asked)

I suspect the second one: I've read about many different pointing directions (merope, polaris, my courtyard...).

Seems like it's not only Pleiades and nearby where you can be interdicted:

Now this is interesting.
However, witchspace is nowhere and everywhere, so it was expected. I can assume their perception of space and time is slightly different than ours...
