Ah, right. I completely forgot about that. I haven't really been back to the ruins since we first found it. Thank you very much for this. So far it seems that at least the items match up properly but I don't really have any info on the alpha, beta and what not as no one was really posting that part.

So when I started doing this, all my data was full so I wasnt getting any new stuff from the Obelisks.. However I was Decoding info.. I don't think the data pattern is tied to the ancient decoding.

Hey guys, I'm having trouble getting the mission. I'm at Felice Dock in a ship with an SRV and above Surveyor Exploration rank.

Is there something special I need to do? Am I too late?

The same thing keeps happening to me only I have to keep restarting due to messages not appearing after getting the notification.
I`ll post a pic of my Spreadsheet soon.

Well, so far I am noticing a couple of things:


  1. The combinations that work for some CMDRs DO NOT work for others. Seems it's either randomized per CMDR or something else.
  2. I went around and scanned all the obelisks with a single item in my cargo hold (a casket), I wrote down what they scanned as (Pattern Alpha, Pattern Epsilon, etc.) I then took the associated item (which I noted when I would scan and it would be successful to the appropriate obelisk (e.g., casket scanned successfully on obelisks as Alpha pattern). So I tried taking two caskets to a previously scanned Alpha-Alpha obelisk, it wasn't available to scan. I logged out and back in, and now the obelisk scans as a completely different pattern than before...does this mean it randomizes the obelisk patterns per-instance? If so, that's gonna make it very difficult.

Edit: Tried re-scanning with the 1 casket in cargo like I did when I originally surveyed them, still scanning different. Oh boy. :*(

First off just making sure you know the mission should automatically pop up in your inbox. Also I saw on the Canonn discord that someone said you may have to delete all of the data you have from the ruins previously as sometimes the mission glitches out and it won't pop up if you have a bunch of the ruins data already. Also could just be a server error as a lot of people seem to be having problems right now.

Are you at Felice Dock in Meene? I made the mistake of searching for "Felice Dock" in the galmap and going to the first system it took me to. Felice Dock is a large Orbis Station in Meene. Once you dock there, you'll get a message from Ram Tah. From there, just head straight to the ruins and start scanning with ancient items in your SRV hold.

The 14 is the 15 and the 15 is the 14. I did that myself because when i was scanning i saw one guy who puts 2 obelisk more and i didnt wait for someone to put one correctly and started my own, sorry.

Empty Inbox. But I'll keep looking there I guess. I've relogged a few times now. I have no ruins data previously.

Yep, I'm in Meene. Nothing from Ram. I do have Ram unlocked, in case that matters.

Are you clear that the mission doesn't come on the Missions Board. You just get messaged by Ram once you land. The mission will appear in your Transactions list like a community goal.

Yessir, I'm aware. I looked in my messages inbox and I have nothing. No "incoming message" by the ship computer, and nothing in the inbox or messages HUD sections.

I guess I can leave and re-enter the port? I'll try that and update the post accordingly.

Are there any requirements that I am perhaps missing? I'm here in my Python. it has an SRV slot. I am 1 rank above Surveyor, which I understand to be the minimum qualification. Do I need to come back in my AspX?

I got it when I landed at Phoenix Base for the very first time about an hour ago. Never docked at Felice. I was in an Anaconda and my exploration rank is Pathfinder.

I suspect messages from Ram Tah are bugged, as when I got to the planet where the ruins are I kept getting messages from him saying I had the wrong combination, even though I was in the air dozens of kilometers away from the site. Perhaps even the mission message is bugged too?

Ok. So I have skimmed back through all of the pages and I have been talking to some of the guys on the canonn discord that were at the site doing some testing. From what I have been able to gather it seems very likely that the data you will get is tied directly what artifacts you are carrying. So:

Orb = Technological
Casket = Historical
Urn = Biological
Tablet = Language
Totem = Cultural (this is theory as we haven't found any Cultural data yet)

Looking through the post I only found 3 instances where this did not line up. Interestingly in 2 of these instances the person said they had a relic and something else in their hold. So I wonder if the Relic maybe acts as a wildcard of some sort. This would need further testing.

Also in talking with others it appears that the data provided by the obelisk, and in this case I am talking about the Alpha, Beta, Delta, Epsilon, and Gamma, is completely random and has no bearing on what data you will acquire in terms of it being Historical or what not.

Another thing to note is that that we have to be careful with saying a particular combo of items provide a certain data from a certain obelisk. The reason I say this is that it seems that in situations where the obelisk only requires one item to activate it, the obelisk will still activate properly if you have 2 items in the hold as long as 1 of the 2 items is the correct item. I think this has led to a lot of the confusion of people saying they have received the same data with a different combo of items as the one that correlates to the data type is always the same in those cases. Now I'm not saying that some obelisk don't require 2 items I am just saying that not all of them do and that it can throw off our info.

Quick question: how are people getting data from the beacons? I know we can scan the relics and pillars, but pillars do nothing and relics just tell me that its a relic.
